Good morning to you all, have an issue that has been disturbing me for some days now. I happened to work in a reputable organization, sometime in 2018, I lost my job and I decided to go into business but lost everything in that business because I was duped, since then life has not been easy. Have searched for jobs since then till now and nothing seems to be happening. just two days back, my supposed fiance who has been so supportive called and told me that she's giving me this year that if nothing good happen and I get married to her, that she's quitting the relationship. the big question is if she really loves me and want to spend the rest of her life with me, will she give me a deadline? |

please my Nairaland family I really need your help, last year March I invested my life saving in a cocoa business but fell into a wrong hands,I lost everything. my house rent expired and I could not renew it, I had to pack out and presently am squatting with a sister. my friends have all deserted me, nobody calls again and the painful of all is that I lost my dad two months back. is as if whole world has crumble. so many times have thought of taking my life . |
On the occasion of his US debut and despite being the significant favourite against an opponent who had been given little more than a month's notice and had lost his only previous world title fight, Joshua suffered four knockdowns in what became a one-sided upset. He was eventually rescued in the seventh round by referee Mike Griffin when, after returning to his feet for the fourth time - the two knockdowns in the seventh followed two similarly hurtful ones in the third, which came after Ruiz Jr's only knockdown - he was no longer able to defend himself. The 29-year-old had established himself as the world's leading heavyweight by so memorably retiring Wladimir Klitschko in 2017, but so unexpected a defeat has damaged his reputation, contributing to his desire for a rematch in the winter. 'Look out for the end of the year, and what's next,' said Joshua, like Ruiz Jnr aged 29. 'It's an upset, it's unexpected. I was the favourite. One shot hit me on the top of the dome and rattled me a bit. I tried to stay in there a few more rounds but the better man won. 'I don't underestimate anyone. He's a decent puncher, a decent fighter. He was the better man. 'I'll tidy up, brush off the cobwebs and go again. But it's a minor setback. 'Trust me, where I was at in life, I've dealt with more s*** than this, with some real big losses, and bounced back.'If I was to look at my setbacks back then then I would have been f*****. I didn't. I kept my head strong, fought like a champion, and bounced back. 'I didn't even ask about a rematch clause because I was so confident I was going to win. If it's there, we'll go again and I'll get the titles back. I'm going to beat him up. 'I'm not dwelling on it. You just correct it, you adjust, you sit down, you focus and you go again.' Joshua also revealed that he had also already spoken to his mother Yeta Odusanya, and his father Robert, who had given him some advice. 'My dad's upset, which is a natural reaction; my mum's cool, she doesn't come to the boxing and separates it,' he said. 'Everyone's in good spirits; losing isn't a good night but it's something we can learn from.'My dad said "Tighten up and get smart; when things are going good nothing's going wrong, then something bad happens, you realise".' Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn, who had previously secured the now-suspended Jarrell Miller as his opponent, also revealed that the UK is the likeliest venue for the rematch that can be expected to follow. 'We didn't know what was coming next, in November, December, now we do,' he said. 'But there's a lot of pressure on that fight; the rematch is huge. 'For me, it should be the UK, but we'll sit down as a team and look at everything. 'I know it didn't go our way but we said we wanted to create a night that people would remember for a long time; unfortunately they'll remember it for a shock defeat and an incredible night of boxing. 'But that's okay; revenge will be sweet and I believe he'll get it.' |

South African Universities to offer Bsc Witchcraft The South African Minister of Higher Education and Training, Blade Nzimande has announced plans to have witchcraft included in the curriculum from 2018. Speaking to representatives from student unions around the country, the minister announced the shocking move and urged future university entrees to consider taking Witchcraft. “There is a lot we can learn from witchcraft, like how they fly in that winnowing basket. Imagine if we learn that skill. It will eradicate traffic jams and everyone will just get in their basket and fly. It also means we will not be importing fuel anymore.” Blade said. The announcement was met with boos and bottle throws from the packed auditorium who had gone to the meeting hoping the minister would announce a 0% fee increase for the coming year. The unperturbed minister also invited renowned witches to make an appointment with his office so they can have their skills tested and those outstanding would then be hired as lecturers. He also invited witches from across the border, promising them permanent residents permits. “I spoke to Gibs (Minister of Home affairs Malusi Gigaba) and he agreed to issue witches from outside South Africa with permanent residence permits. I heard Malawi and Zimbabwe have an impressive collection of witches. We are hoping they will heed the call”, he added. Applications is said to be closing on the 30th of September at midnight, after which an appointed panel with conduct interviews. There currently is an opening for 109 witches. – The United States has dismissed a suit by Godson Nnaka asking for $550 million of the Abacha loot – The US-based Nigerian lawyer had argued that he was entitled to the share of the money after the Nigerian government had recruited him to get the money – The court ruled that the lawyer was not entitled to the money has his temporary letter was not renewed The US is set to repatriate over $550 million of stolen funds during the regime of late General Sani Abacha after a case instigated by a Nigerian lawyer was dismissed. Vanguard reports that a US-based Nigerian lawyer, Godson Nnaka, had requested for $320 million from the Abacha loot from Nigeria. Justice John D. Bates of the U.S District Court had dismissed Nnaka’s claim and insisted that he was not a party to the forfeiture case filed by the US Department of Justice in conjunction with Nigeria. The office of the Attorney General of the Federation had filed an opposition to Nnaka’s motion for the payment and asked the court to bar him from filling similar cases.Justice Bates said that Nnaka did not meet the basic prerequisites to be considered as a proper party in the case and to be paid the amount he requested for as he was not qualified to represent Nigeria. The judge also ruled out Nnaka for the payment since he had not won any judgment for Nigeria. “Neither Nnaka nor his purported clients are parties to the forfeiture matter and neither of them can win judgment through this litigation.“The conclusion dooms Nnaka’s motion for charging lien. At common law, the charging of lien is applicable to a judgment or decree obtained for a client by an attorney. Until a judgment or decree has been obtained, the right to impose a lien does not arise. “Even the most basic prerequisites for charging lien are missing here: Nnaka has not won a judgment for Nigeria; indeed, he had not successfully entered appearance on Nigeria’s behalf. A charging lien in the amount of $320 million is not called for. Nnaka’s claim against Nigeria must be pursued in another case: 16cv-1400. “Unless and until Nnaka’s claim to the defendant’s assets are reinstated by the DC Circuit, Nnaka’s participation in this case must now come to an end,” the U.S judge ruled, paving the way for Nigeria to draw down its huge cash. Abubakar Malami who is the minister of justice was in the US for the judgement said Nnaka was merely trying to delay the return of the Abacha loot by the U.S by making a claim that Nigeria must pay him 40 percent of the loot. The minister noted that although Nnaka was recruited by Mr. Olujimi, the former attorney general in 2004, he had not recovered anything. He said Nigeria will not pay Nnaka the $320 million he is asking for since he is not qualified to practise law in the Maryland area where the case is taking place. The court also ruled that the lawyer could not claim to be representing Nigeria as the temporary letter given to him by Olujimi was not revalidated by Mohammed Adoke during the Goodluck Jonathan administration when the forfeiture case resumed in 2013. Malami said that the case filed by Nnaka had delayed the return of the Abacha loot but the recent judgement dismissing the case should make things move faster. “We trust that this Order denying Nnaka’s frivolous claim to the Abacha assets, will help to allay the fear of the Nigerian general public arising from an online medium’s article which stated that Nigeria stands to lose $320 million on account of Nnaka’s Motion. “We also hope that this Order will help to correct the many falsehoods and half-truths published in the past against the Office of the Honourable Attorney General of the Federation regarding this matter. “This is a positive development for Nigeria.” |
Oby Ezekwesili has denied reports credited to
her that Buhari’s policies were responsible for
the current economic recession.
Former education minister, Oby Ezekwesili,
has denied reports credited to her blaming
President Muhammadu Buhari’s policies for
the current economy recession experienced in
the country.Vanguard had on Monday, September, 12
reported that the former minister in a
whatsApp message last night, September, 11,
described statements by the minister of
information, Lai Mohammed, that the past
government was responsible for the current
economic decline as incompetent lies.
The convener of the Bring Back Our Girls
(BBOG) group in the Vanguard report was
said to have noted that it was myopic to
think that if Jonathan were to still be in
power, we would be worse off.
According to the report, she said the truth
about Nigeria’s recession is that it was
caused by the Buhari’s unguided rhetoric
and uncultured body language.
According to Vanguard, She said: “Firstly,
there is nothing we are buying today that we
weren’t buying five years ago, therefore it’s
not our purchase that put pressure on Naira
but withdrawal of funds by foreign investors.
‘’After the election, the President created
instability with his statements about how
everyone is corrupt and how everyone is
going to jail.
‘’The instability made foreign investors to
liquidate their investment and change their
money to dollars. In the process of trying to
flee, they were willing to buy dollars at any
price, which lead to high exchange dollar
rate.“Even though some of them were not ready
to run away, but want their money in dollars
to save their investments from devaluation,
the president gave a bad signal by banning
deposit of foreign currency into domiciliary
accounts.
“That was enough for free market believers to
see the draconian handwriting on the wall,
that was the beginning of dollar rush.
’To make matters worse, the President came
up with another outrageous policy of
rationing dollar to certain sectors and
blocking many sectors out. That was the nail
in the coffin which facilitated the emergence
of free fall.”
However, Ezekwesili in reaction to the
Vanguard article, accused the media
organisation of spreading falsehood in her
name.
Meanwhile, Oby Ezekwesili who was a vocal
critic of the Jonathan administration
following the abduction of the Chibok girls by
Boko Haram has expressed disappointment
over the activities of the police that are
frustrating the BBOG campaign, adding that
President Muhammadu Buhari is going down
the wrong lane.
Speaking on the backdrop of police
restrictions on the BBOG protests, the former
minister noted that the BBOG has a right to
protest as stipulated in the 1999 constitution
and that the police should not in any way
halt the group’s peaceful activities |
Days after President Muhammadu Buhari launched the #ChangeBeginsWithMe campaign; there is allegation that the idea was stolen. The campaign was launched on Thursday, September 8 as a way of promoting the concept of change but it seems the minister of information, Lai Mohammed may be shrouded in an intellectual theft scandal. Premium Times reports that an associate of one Akin Fadeyi said He met with the minister of information in December, 2015 to introduce him to a project, Not in my Country, which he believed correlated with the current administration’s change mantra. “The idea was to appeal to the minister to get NTA and Radio Nigeria to play ‘Not In My Country’ as part of their administration’s campaign against corruption,.” The associate said Mr Fadeyi submitted the proposal to Mohammed who asked him to make several changes but later declined it. “They submitted the final version of their proposal to him after ending each episode with ‘Change Begins with Me’ as he directed. “He immediately said it was a brilliant idea because it achieved ‘the power of one minute.’” “He just suddenly disappeared since then and made it very difficult for Mr. Fadeyi to reach him for updates about the proposal. “Months later, he started publicity about ‘Change Begins with Me’ launch without signing any contract with owners.” The associate claimed the video played at the launch of Change Begins With Me was similar to Not in my Country. “The minister just sort of made a little change here, a little change there, and ran to town with the concept.” The minister however denied the allegation and said the Change Begins With Me campaign had been in the pipeline before he was appointed. Williams Adeleye who is the spokesperson of Mohammed said: “We started working on ‘Change Begins with Me’ before the honourable minister was nominated and we’ve been working with the agency that produced the campaign.” “So let him go to wherever he likes then we’ll meet and go and sort it out there.” |
The United Kingdom is “begging” Nigeria to initiate process that will see to the return of $85million allegedly looted by Dan Etete who is a former minister of petroleum.Dan Etete’s frozen loot is waiting to be recovered in the UK The Evening Standard of London which is a UK newspaper explained that Nigeria’s failure to send a proceeds-of-crime submission to the judge of a UK court is slowing down the recovery of the fund. The money is reportedly frozen in NatWest bank account in London. The money is believed to be part of the proceeds from the award of the licence an oilfield containing an estimated nine billion barrels of crude by the former minister to malabu oil & gas for $20 million. However, the federal government sold the oil field to Eni after a disagreement between Shell and Malabu over the ownership of the field. The newspaper said : “Last week, the two governments agreed criminal assets stolen in Nigeria and seized in Britain can be returned to the West African country, but such breakthroughs are rare. “Buhari’s governing style is also a source of frustration. Critics say he is slow in his decision-making, which allows the EFCC to wallow in indecision. “Buhari’s critics say his approach means that much-needed funds from corruption cases are not bringing in revenue for an ailing economy ravaged by low oil prices, and the oil blocks themselves are not being developed.”The Malabu Oil deal resulted in the siphoning off of $1 billion from a $1.3 billion international investment in the oil block through ‘fees’ to Etete’s company and middlemen. Justice Justice Edi said : “Given the large sums of money involved that are effectively paid to a former minister to a bank account in the Middle East, the whole exercise is backed by murky instructions.”The Guardian reports that the account is being fingered as one of those involved in an alleged fraud case before a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos but Mrs Jonathan’s counsel, Gboyega Oduwole has filed a case before the court, informing that his client is unhappy with the EFCC over the recent move to freeze the account |
