Politics › APC Pushing Nigeria To The Brinks – PDP by viczing(op): 6:51pm On Mar 16, 2015 |
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) now confronted with the reality of failure in the 2015 general elections has intensified its frenzied deployment of false alarms aimed at throwing the polity into chaos and wreck the electoral process. PDP National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh in a statement on Monday said “having been exposed in its hypocrisy, lies and empty promises, the APC in obvious frustration is now engaged in dangerous mind game using wild allegations in a bid to cause panic, balkanize the nation and create the way for a reign of anarchy in the country. “For the APC, it has become a matter of ‘if we can’t have it, then let’s destroy it’. In the last couple of weeks, this opposition party and its leaders have engaged in dishing out dangerous false alarms in a bid to discredit the electoral process, heighten tension, create fear in the minds of the people and push the polity to the brinks. “For instance, how else would one explain the false alarm by the leader of the opposition, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu on Thursday, March 12, 2015 alleging that there were plots to assassinate him, a phantom claim which was followed on Sunday, March 15 by the APC in a statement that there were plans to kill their Presidential flagbearer, General Muhammadu Buhari. “Also, on the same March 15, the APC in a yet another statement falsely claimed that the Federal Government paid N9 billion to ethnic militias to foment trouble, before, during and after the general elections. This was immediately followed by a release on Monday, March 16, in which the opposition, in their unrelenting effort to further discredit the process, alleged that the Federal Government has hired an Israeli expert, Gyora Berger to sabotage card readers on election day. “In the same vein, on March 4, 2015, the APC released a false alarm claiming that there were plots by the Federal Government to frame its leaders and sensitive INEC officials and manipulate the electoral process. This is in addition to another statement on March 9 in which it alleged of plots to harass its financiers and cripple its operations ahead of elections. “We are aware that the APC has lined up many of such false allegations and nuisance alarms, which would be methodologically released to the public to swell the tension as the elections draw nearer. “APC’s history of lies has become legendary. Nigerians may recall that this party in their penchant for deceit had in June 2014 alleged that a plane carrying Kano state Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso to attend a rally in Ekiti to support Governor Kayode Fayemi’s re-election bid was denied landing permission in Akure, only for Kwankwaso’s Director of Press Affairs, Baba Dantiye to announce that his boss was at another event in Kano and had no plans to travel to Ekiti state. “It is indeed clear that the APC has no positive agenda for Nigeria but on a mission to grab power at all cost, failing which it has perfected plots to unleash mayhem and destabilize the nation. “We therefore alert the entire nation, especially security agencies, electoral officials and our members to be vigilant as these allegations could indeed be a subterfuge by the APC to cover a grand plot to unbridle violence on innocent citizens”, the party said. The PDP also charged its members to remain focused on the campaigns and not allow themselves to be distracted, especially seeing that it is enjoying the support and confidence of majority of Nigerians. The party restated its commitment to issue driven campaign leveraging on the enviable records of achievements of the standard bearer, President Goodluck Jonathan for which Nigerians are determined to give him a deserving second chance, while berating the APC for dwelling on lies and insults without articulating any positive programme for Nigerians. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/03/apc-pushing-nigeria-to-the-brinks-pdp/ |

Politics › Over 30 FEDECO Ballot Boxes Intercepted In Delta State by viczing(op): 6:41pm On Mar 16, 2015 |
OVER 30 FEDECO ballot boxes have been intercepted at Onigbo-Ugbo Junction, Delta State, on the Benin-Onitsha Expressway by the officials of the Delta State Police Command.
The bus with registration number, Edo USL 832 XL, was said to have picked the materials from a luxurious bus heading to eastern part of the country on Thursday evening.
The man behind it allegedly zoomed-off immediately after handing over the consignment to the driver of the smaller bus, who has been arrested by the police following an alarm raised by residents in the area.
A source, which pleaded to remain anonymous, said the boxes had symbols of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the materials alleged to be used to raise money for the party’s presidential project.
But the state Secretary of the APC, Chidi Okonji, dissociated the party from the consignment, saying the party would never be involved in any form of electoral infraction and that the party was not aware of any funding raising. Another APC source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said: “I am not aware of anything like that. If at all it is true, it must be the handwork of the PDP because there is nothing they cannot do. The PDP can stage manage anything.”
Confirming intercepting the consignment, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Delta Command, Celestina Kalu, claimed the boxes had the inscription of FEDECO on them, adding that they were part of the materials used in the 1979 and 1983 elections.
Kalu said upon interrogation, it was discovered that the conveyors of the items intended to use them for Osusu (local banking system) within communities, adding, however, that investigation was still in progress.
As at the time of filing this report, Public Relations Officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Delta State, James Popoola, said his office was not aware of ballot boxes that were intercepted.
Meanwhile, the state PDP Publicity Secretary, Deinghan Ray Macaulay, has appealed to the police to carry out a thorough investigation regarding the ballot papers, even as he distanced his party from the illegality.
“The PDP could not involve itself in anything like that when we are sure of victory at the elections particularly in Delta State. We are getting upper hand so we cannot do a thing like that; it is only those who are not sure of victory that can do such a thing and foment trouble. I strongly appeal to the police to carry out a thorough investigation into the matter,” he said. http://dailyindependentnig.com/2015/03/apc-pdp-bicker-interception-fedeco-ballot-boxes/ |

Rilwayne001: Following the meeting by the National Executive Council held in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, where some members of the Labour Party (LP) purportedly endorsed President Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in this month’s election, the leadership of the party in Abuja on Sunday said it had not endorsed any candidate.
The Chairman, National Caretaker Committee of the party, Salisu Nuhu Mohammed, said the endorsement of President Jonathan was done by those he described as ‘impostors’ and not the real party members. His words: “We have on many occasions stated this and I need to re-emphasise this even at the pains of being accused of repetition that Labour Party is not fielding any candidates at all levels in the 2015 elections. All those who parade themselves as leaders of Labour Party and go about deceiving members of the public on their status, are impostors.
“The so- called NEC meeting said to have been held on March 11, 2015 in Ibadan was an illegality, it had no powers to adopt any person or persons for any political office.
“For the avoidance of doubt, LP has not gone into any alliance, merger or understanding with any of the existing political parties including PDP, APC and any other party for that matter,” Mohammed added. “Therefore, we are not endorsing President Jonathan of the PDP or General Muhammadu Buhari of the APC. I hasten to add up for all those who might have been deceived by impostors, the more than N1million workers are not amused by the antics of one A.A Salam,” he concluded.
Mohammed stated that their members are free to exercise their franchise and vote in line with their conscience and not according to the dictate of A.A Salam.
The caretaker chairman equally lamented how the Ebonyi State Governor, Mr. Elechi Martins, who is not a card carrying member of the party would dissolved the party in his state to save himself from impeachment by the state House of Assembly.
“In a bid to save himself from the impeachment, Elechi opportunistically obeyed a directive given to him by the PDP to collapse the LP in the state into PDP. It seems there is no limit to the absurdity of the likes of A.A Salam will be willing to go in their desperate bid for personal aggrandisement.”
Speaking on the NLC election, he stressed that the party was worried about the unfolding event, while urging that Ayuba Waba and Joe Ajero should consider the overall interest of the Nigerian workers above any other interest and sheathe their swords.

[s][/s] Orikinla: I was one of the VIPs invited to the much publicized Showbiz Interactive Night with President Goodluck Jonathan Sunday evening on March 15, 2015, at the Eko Convention Centre of the Eko Hotel and Suites on Victoria Island, Lagos. And it was a star studded spectacular night of fantastic musical and comic performances by both older and younger musicians and comedians, including King Sunny Ade, Sir Victor Uwaifo, Orit Wiliki, Ras Kimono, Gordons, Klint the Drunk, Funny Bone, Harrysong, Kcee, Oritse Femi, Dbanj, Timi Dakolo and Waje. And almost all the most celebrated Nollywood stars were there, but Genevieve Nnaji, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde and Kate Henshaw were missing at the event coordinated by President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Mrs. Ibinabo Fiberesima-Egbuka and her immediate predecessor Segun Arinze who made the event a night to remember. Richard Mofe-Damijo and Ayo Makun, aka AY of "30 Days in Atlanta" fame were comperes and they were very good. Famous singers Yinka Davies and Waje interacted with me as we sat around our table with famous actor Joseph Benjamin and another actor.
President Jonathan came with his special entourage, including Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State, Tony Elumelu, Chairman, Heirs Holdings; Mr Jim Ovia, Chairman, Zenith Bank Plc and Jimi Agbaje, gubernatorial candidate of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) for Lagos who interacted with several people. I waited until after the event to say hello and we shook hands with "Up Gregs!" the common praise chant used by both present and old students of the famous St. Gregory's College, Lagos.
Interacting with President Goodluck Jonathan and Jimi Agbaje did not change my mind on my decision to endorse and support the presidential flag bearer lof the All Progressives Congress (APC), Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd) and APC’s Lagos governorship candidate, Akinwunmi Dolapo Ambode who will definitely succeed Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola in 2015, whether the hypocrites and sycophants of the PDP like it or not. Jimi Agbaje does not have grassroots support and actually waiting for how the domino effect of President Jonathan winning the presidential election will favour him which is unrealistic for any serious political leader. And his political media campaign is misconstrued by the agency he contracted. Majority of the voters in Lagos state don't even know what BOLD IDEAS Jimi Agbaje is talking about when he has never been bold in his contributions to the development of Lagos state. How many people has he given jobs? How many people has he given scholarships? What achievements can he prove he has achieved for Lagos state? [s][/s] biased fool, you blind I hope it doesn't affect your generation |
