Jonah 1. Jonah a messenger sent by God to preach repentance in Nineveh but rather went on a travel on the sea to escape. In verse 5, the mariners tried to make a calm situation of the tempest God sent by throwing of their wares(goods), to make the ship light. My point here is "making the ship light". In normal reasoning, making a ship light can increase its vulnerability to the storm. BUT, THE ACTUAL REASON FOR THAT ACTION (throwing their wares in the sea) WAS TO APPEASE THE gods OF THE SEA. Being in the riverine area could bring such knowledge. It is a common sacrificial act. Now look into your life, i don't know what is making you heavy as a doubt, sin, pleasure, etc. Know that that is why God sent that situation you are going through. Make a sacrifice by emptying yourself of those heaviness by putting your faith in the word of God. It is the answer and would still the storm.. God bless you. |
