Nigeria will meet Spain in the final of the Under-17 World Cup after the West Africans team beat Germany 3-1 in Thursday's semi-final. Striker Macaulay Christanus took his tournament tally to seven goal when he opened the scoring for Nigeria in the 10th minute. The Flying Eaglets doubled their advantage eight minutes later when Yakubu Alfa found the target. Germany controlled possession for much of the match but without creating the chances that Nigeria was able to do. German playmaker Toni Kroos narrowed the deficit in the 33rd minute. Into the final minutes of the match, Nigeria made attack the best form of defence, preventing Germany from pushing numbers forward in search of an equaliser. Then in the fourth minute of added time, Kabiru Akinsola scored to seal the result. This will be Nigeria's fifth U-17 World Cup final, with a record of two wins and two losses. Spain has twice previously reached the final, losing on both occasions. Spain will be without its outstanding playmaker Bojan Krkic, who was sent off in the final moments of the semi-final win over Ghana on Wednesday

Bordeaux has been officially included on the list of UNESCO World Heritage sites. This distinction recognises the beauty and unity of style of Bordeaux’s architectural heritage, which has developed harmoniously over the centuries and remained remarkably well-preserved. The Bordeaux World Heritage site is the largest urban entity to be so honored. It covers 1,810 hectares, or half of the city, from the outer boulevards to the banks of the Garonne. Bordeaux, the capital of the Gironde department and an 18th century architectural gem, owes its beauty to architects spanning a number of periods: Jacques Gabriel (Les Allées de Tourny), Victor Louis (Le Grand Théâtre), Jacques d’Welles (the municipal stadium), and Richard Rogers, who designed not only the Beaubourg Centre in Paris, but also one of Bordeaux’s courts of law Nigerians in the City please send wonderful pictures and stories about this beatiful city, i hope to visit in January 2008

A tourist visist to a place like Arochukwu in Abia state was really eventful. I had the opportunity with other International Volunteers to visit the historical town of Arochukwu last saturday. We visited the Eze Aro, he's the most senior of the Eze's in the Community. Also we visited Eze Amanagwu and Eze ibom. We were shown an historical museum in Ujari, chains, masks, ancient padlocks and doors used long ago were shown to us. The Aro people are educated and intelligent people, you will find a woman of 80 years speaking English with such clarity and fluency. The drawbacks visiting a place like Arochukwu is the roads. The roads are bad and suicidal. The yam festival just started and the climax is the ending of the month , 29th precisely.I hope to be there again to catch a glimpse of this historical town with an history for slave trading. If you an Aro person please tell us more about the Aro people and its 19 communities. I will post pictures next week |
There is no doubt about the sincerity of purpose on the part of Professor Charles Soludo, Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria , towards his now suspended re-denomination policy on Nigeria ’s national currency, the Naira. The major contending issue is the method or the manner in which he presented the policy among others to the generality of Nigerians without, according to the government, a written authorization from President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua The news of the suspension order expectedly elicits dimensional feelings among Nigerians, depending on which side of the divide you are. For the pro-policy, it is a bad news, good news for pro-establishment and perhaps an uncertain news for the future of the Nigerian currency. However, after the pros and cons of the policy have been debated in the public arena since it was announced, there is need to look at the areas of conflict between the government’s stand against that of the head of the apex bank. However, the main focus of the policy, which borders on how best to enhance the strength of the naira against the dollar in particular, and the need to bring about the much desired respect for the value of the currency in general, undoubtedly ought to be supported by all right thinking Nigerians. These two-fold desires are what prompted some Nigerians to quickly give kudos to Soludo on his bold move, without paying attention to the political implications of his action. The Naira is our common heritage and the need to make the at par with the Dollar is a sensation. The value of your local currency sometimes the viability of your own Econmony. The proposed Naira at par with the dollar should have allowed to see the light of the day. Some day we will get there. |
Whats happening, Nigerians are being killed Greece the other day, today Turkey. Really sad, may the Gentle soul rest in Perfect Peace. |
I sense there is a power struggle going on within the various arms of government. Whatever, I think the issue as important as our monetary policy(ies) should be left for the experts as it directly affects the nations economy. Of what use is the independence of the Central bank if it can not be trusted and allowed to take independent decisions. O.K Soludo may have faulted by not informing Mr President of the plan, the president has come out with greater fault by listening to the advice of the politicians to overrule the apex bank's decision, annoyingly by the minister in charge of justice ministry. Two wrongs do not make a right we all know and I believe the president should be in the know of this. What should have mattered to the president is the overall interest of the nation and not the interest of a few individuals who would do anything to maintain the status quo. What has just happened is a big embarrassment of international proportion, and Nigeria once again is becoming a laughing stock in the comity of nations. INDEED, NIGERIA WE HAIL THEE.O |

Rioting broke out yesterday in the northern Greek port of Thessaloniki as Nigerians, mainly young demonstrators, confronted the Police in that country after the death of a Nigerian immigrant.Greek television showed footage of dozens of smashed windows and several damaged cars. Police said the victim, whose name has not been made public, had been selling CDs and DVDs illegally, and that he jumped from the first floor of a cafeteria to escape a police inspection. His injuries were fatal and he died on the spot. |
But the Defence Minister urged caution, saying: “There is a limit to which we should expose the Nigerian Army or before you know it, the insulation of the army from civil life to professionalism will be compromised once again.” Emphasizing the internal security functions of the army, the COAS said it was regrettable that in spite of all the army was doing in fighting crime, maintaining peace and tackling armed bandits in several parts of the country, no state government deemed it necessary to assist the army with vehicles to move men and materials during the crises in Port Harcourt. |

The Cape verde island is a place to visit. In all the islands, however, is a fascinating mixture of African and European custom and conduct. This is best reflected in the foods on offer, with Portuguese foods (such as fish- and seafood-based dishes, olive oil, garlic, lemon and sausage) and African foods (stews, beans, maize ) comfortably combined on most menus. I met a few Nigerians there. The island is full with festivals and entertainment. There are lots of pretty girls and sceneries. Swedeen is another place to visit, i was opportuned to go for a volunteer program in the city of Malmo.I enjoyed myself for 14 days.i met few africans but never met a Nigerian. I later learnt one of the guys i travelled with is a Nigerian but carrying a Seychelles Passport. South Africa another place to visit, you will meet lots of Nigerians in Pretoria, jo'borg and other interior towns. Even in swaziland which is part of south africa, there are so many Nigerians who shuttle sa to swaziland, life there is not as hectic as south africa, these places are wonderful places. But in all sincerity i have all always loved Nigeria and it is the place to be. Its good to travel and see some of these wonderful places but am sure home is stil home I can 't say maybe if i i visit places like canada i might never come back for a long while , time will tell |
The entire Process is still the same, curruption |

In spite the dirty tricks employed by rival bidding city Glasgow , Abuja has an Olympian calm and only the result of November 9th 2007 matters to her. Therefore Glasgow stands warn that, meekest is not synonymous to weakness. Abuja can also employ the same tactics of selective naming and shaming that Glasgow has excelled herself in, since the Nigerian Federal Capital Territory (FCT) proved, she is not a push over. Glasgow must move away from her subterfuge which entails employing pressure groups to derail Abuja ’s bid. Nevertheless, she has every right to confront the Nigerian city on the rules that dictates the norms in such competitions. |
Too bad, he didn't bargain for it. I always pity people like him , he looks so innocent. What could have made him do it, i heard he was promised $4000. Meaning he could have been doing it for long. Any which way , let justice take its course. |

Submiiting original documents facilitates easy processing . You cannot be applying for a student visa and you submit photocopiues of your credentials. I have not heard a case where the embassy misplaces documents. The closest is they retain some of your documents and call you to provide original documents for proper identification. |
