Sad,My major concerns are what were the criterias to be a contestant in the Guilder ultimate search. Swimming i was told was a criteria, if it is, how did the deceased succeed in getting to the final stage without swimming abilities. Evidently there was foul play on the part of the organisers because someone who was certified fit just a few days ago suddenly drowned. I have not swimmed in the last 10 years but i am confident without doubts that i can swim anywhere anyday. Thus the organisers must answer the following questions 1.Was the deceased certified a good swimmer? 2.Now that he's dead what are the precautionary measures against another occurence? 3.Would the family be compensated? 4.When would GUS 4 start again? |

Even President Yar' Adua welcomed the President General of the IJAW NATION ONLY Recently. Don't doubt this: the day Alamiyeseigha returns to Bayelsa, there will be dancing in the streets from Yenagoa to Wilberforce Island, congratulatory messages in the media, a 21-gun salute by the combined forces of ethnic militants and kidnappers of the Niger Delta., and the media so complicit in this matter will report it all with relish and flourish. This is the sad thing about our country: on every score, in every matter, we find it so expedient to strike the recursive note. What do you think |

Mourinho has to come to terms with who he is. He has to come to terms with the fact that he has more admirers worldwide, in and out of football, than those who can’t stand him. Even those who claim to hate him in their positions as fans of other club would jump at the opportunity to shower him with affection if he were manager of their side. Now that the damaging boardroom disagreements are in the past, it is important that Mourinho is simply left to be himself. More importantly, it’s crucial that he continues to be himself, rather than what the opposition wants him to be. Chelsea’s continued success under him depends on him being himself. He knows it, the players know it and we the fans know it. Indeed, Brand Mourinho is a worldwide phenomenon. For instance, I can say while Chelsea share top billings with Arsenal and Manchester United as foreign-based clubs with the biggest followings, Mourinho alone undeniably occupies the dizziest height of popularity for managers amongst football followers. It is not uncommon to hear fans of other clubs tell you that they have affection for Chelsea only because of Mourinho. When you see comedians compete on who can do a better Mourinho impersonation or kids on football grounds sliding on their knees in near-concrete football grounds – all in imitative celebration of The Special One - you begin to imagine how much of an icon he is in popular culture, even in places far geographically removed from the Premiership or Champions League football. As the new season starts over the weekend , Mourinho's Chelsea are geared to succeed. Up Chelsea.

I'm disappointed when they put myname on the list of illiterates who claim to be billinaires. The truth is Jimoh Ibrahim be educated and intelligent , am sure he doesn't have the financial education Dangote has. To the best of my Knowledge the Dangote i know one on one is a humble and humane person , so much money.Your level of education sometimes does not guarantee your financial prowness. What Jomoh is missing is that People like Dangote have been there all this years, is why he's been favored . What baffles me is why Barrister Jimoh is crying out loud now. One thing he must understand is education is no guarantee to success. The Dangote story is a classical example.I celebrate people like Dangote who despite low educational qualifications still find their way to the top. For Jimoh, your brilliance is what is sustaining you and you are a sucess story to the educated folks. But please the languages used are insultive;Illiterates, drunk, debtors, useless |

BAGHDAD -- Two suicide car bombs exploded yesterday amid throngs that poured into Baghdad's streets after the Iraqi national soccer team edged South Korea to reach its first Asian Cup final. Police said at least 50 people were killed and 135 were injured Celebratory gunfire after Iraq's 4-3 victory at the game in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, killed at least one person and injured 17, police said. Among the wounded were two police officers and an Iraqi soldier. A love of soccer is one of the few things that unite Iraqis across ethnic and religious lines, and violence dropped to unusually low levels as Iraqis sat transfixed through the nail-biting match, broadcast live on Iraqi television and radio. They then streamed onto the streets, waving flags and pointing guns skyward in celebration. But barely two hours after the gamed ended, a suicide car bomber killed at least 30 people and injured 75 near an ice cream shop in Baghdad's western Mansour neighborhood, police said.

China is the fastest growing economy in the world. There is no nation that doesn't depend on chinese products. The chinese are welcome wherever they go, Agreed there are unscrupulous elemnts amognst them but you can't take it away , the chinese are good at what they do. Nigeria should take a cue and learn from china. Even with communism the chinese are still thriving in all spheres. The 2010 olympic as i was told by a chinese friend would be the best in times of infrastructure and facilities. Have u visited china before, try and visit you will appreciate the revulution in terms of industrial, strucural, economic and tourism. The China i visited 3years ago i was told is better than before. Kudos to the Chinese. |
Oprah’s conclusion is based on the fact that a Nigerian of Igbo extraction was caught with $500,000, which was alleged to have been stolen from a foreigner through the Internet fraud popularly known as 419. So, why call all Nigerians rogues because of the sin of a few bad eggs? Oprah regularly tells her life story: how she was sexually abused by close relations, how she ‘walked the streets’ (Americans’ euphemism for prostitution), etc., but nobody has ever deemed it fit to tag all American men as incestuous because of Oprah and others’ experiences. She did drugs – just like the typical American teenager, but nobody has cast all American youths in the mould of drug abusers! So, why should an individual that is supposed to know better sentence a nation to odium for the infraction of a tiny fraction of its population? I urge Oprah and her likes to disabuse their minds about Nigerians. Nigerians should be united in refutting generalized insults like this. I implore Nigerians in the Diaspora to please counter and caution Oprah. Be wary of requests for money from strangers, and if you fall for a scam, blame your greed and not Nigerians. |

Human Security is a new way of approaching security at the local, national and global levels which focuses on the security of people rather than the security of states. According to the Human Security approach the best way of ensuring international peace and security is to first ensure the peace and security of people. Within this new approach both violent and non-violent issues are considered security threats. Things like poverty, disease, human rights, economic instability and environmental degradation. Threats to Human Security are present in all parts of our world; whether it is the pollution of industrial America, water scarcity in the villages of Kenya, unemployment and discrimination in the banlieus of Paris, threats to freedom of the press in the Philippines or violence in the streets of Baghdad. Do you think the focus on Human Security has had on conflicts all over the world, as well as the attempts to create peace in our world? |

PUBLIC outburst against the controversial sale of the Kaduna and Port Harcourt refineries by the administration of President Olusegun Obasanjo may have yielded results. The new owners of the two plants, Bluestar Oil Services Consortium, owned by businessmen, Alhaji Aliko Dangote and Mr. Femi Otedola, has reportedly bowed out of the deal. Dangote Group of Companies and Zenon Petroleum, owned by Otedola formed the consortium to manage the plants. They staked about N92.3 billion ($721 million) to get the nod of the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) to run the refineries. Soon after the deal was sealed, eminent Nigerians and organised Labour faulted the exercise, alleging that it was not transparent. In fact, the sale of Kaduna Refinery was greeted with a wild protest in the state while employees of the two plants resorted to prayers for the arrangement It was also learnt that the consortium was pulling out of the refineries due to the outcome of its due diligence on the plants. The firm reportedly discovered that the amount it offered for the refineries was far above their real value. But the opponents of the transaction said that besides the fact that the exercise was not transparent, the plants were under-valued. Bluestar acquired 51 per cent in Port Harcourt Refinery for N71.8 billion ($561 million) and Kaduna Refining and Petrochemicals at N20.5 billion ($160 million). |
Police commissioner in Lagos last week declared an immediate arrest of preachers on Lagos buses. What do you think about this development. |
By Nigerian standard Dangote can claim to be rich without paying taxes, influuencing govt to buy refineries and other govt investments at a give away price. The nigerian environment is not transparent enough for a business mogul like t Dangote to do business without getting his hands soiled. The purchase of the refineries by Dangote to me is indictment on his business acumen and transparency. Oprah operates in an environment where transparency and financial prudency is the order. An am sure she can declare and explain how she got her assets. But to a large extent am happy that a Nigerian could say he is as rich as that.with all businesses here and there , there might be some truth that Dangote could probably be the richest black man. What about Adenuga Jr of Glo, i beleive he's richer than Dangote. The challenge is now open, Forbes magazine we await your verdict. i SHOULD BE NOMONATED TOO AMONG THE RICHEST IN THE WORLD. ITS FUN TO HEAR YOUR NAME AS THE RICHEST VIKIVIKO THE RICHEST ON NAIRALAND |
I just heard that the new change in guard as the World's richest man. To say the truth the criteria for chosing the richest man in the world is not only faulty but currupt, what is the cry about Dangote saying he is richer than Oprah and worth 8 billion us dollars. If Dangote is worth that much, i think the EFCC has a lot of work to do. Because a man who acquired prized investments from the Federal governments of Nigeria on a give away price courtesy obj should not be counted among the richest. He should tell us how he made his monies. Also which level is Adenuga Jr of Glo ranked |

The united states of Africa is utopia. There are so many factors militating against the idea. From language to tribal differences, cultural to historical differences. The African continent has a thick population which will make it difficult to govern.Even in confederal systems the odds do not favor a unified Africa. This kind of system will make countries like Nigeria, South Africa and Egypt super powers. While countries like Togo, Eritrea, Benin, Cape Verde minnows.I think the best option is strengthening of the Regions. From North to West, East to South. So far the southern countries have shown more integration towards a unified africa than the rest.Only perhaps the romance between Ghana and Nigeria. The united states of africa is a project that will be realised in the future. So lets support the idea by showing more love to our african brothers wherever. |
Our present Plight as a nation has nothing to do with our independence This are only trying times for the corporate entity called Nigeria Agreed People are are unemployed, stricken with poverty but its not only in Nigeria, go to Romania, Bulagaria, uk , Brasil the unemployment rate are the same. Political independence has been achieved in all parts of the world only economic emanciaption is still a problem mostly in all third world countries. If not for independence i don't know where we'll be today. Our problems are self inflicted thus meaning it could be corrected someday. We have leadership problems too, someday we 'll get there. To say the least Nigeria and Nigerians are doing better, |
Nigerians in the diaspora cannot be said to lack direction because so many could have left with reasons good . Today the Country is rated among the Poorest, people are really suffering and everybody is desperate to travel. Agreed Nigeria is really hard but not too bad for people who have connections and networks. Nigeria is a land of opportunities, a land of plenty, a land filled with Milk and Honey only for the wise. Travelling abroad is good as it helps to expose and facilitate hard earned success. But being abroad is no guarantee for success. Over the weekend i was in Cape Verde on a volunteering job and i met Nigerians saying they will never come home again because things are bad,the standard of living in cape verde is not better than Lagos. I took it upon myself to inform about changes in Nigeria, i told them if you are intelligent and wise in money bizness you can make at least 400 dollars a day in Nigeria. I told them about HYIP Programmes ongoing in Nigeria where people make monies in doubles every month. Personally i don't think i can stay out of Nigeria for more than a Month. I make money daily, that even my families and Friends do not make abroad. The mentality will soon change , It will be fine Regards to Nigerians in the Diaspora, This is not not to say Nigerians abroad are not okay, it is only a clarion call that soneer tahn later Nigeria will be back again. One can come into quick wealth in Nigeria than anywhere in the world , Truly Nigeria is sweet and Great. Up Nigeria |
