The children of Horton's Kids face hardships every day. Sadly, these hardships include neglect of basic needs, poor self-esteem, and horrible violence in their neighborhood and schools. To help them overcome these obstacles and realize their potential, Horton’s Kids needs volunteers to serve as mentors to children.

Horton’s Kids’ volunteers and staff serve as a second family to children living in Anacostia. These children are in need of mentors to hang out with them in a fun, social environment. Hours are flexible and the benefits to the children are priceless.

Volunteers have the flexibility to spend time with their mentee either on their own or on fun, social field trips with other mentors and their mentees; field trips include attending sporting events, going to museums, playing at the park, and more.

Mentors strive to help their mentees form a trusting relationship, build life skills, improve school attendance, build socialization skills, and improve confidence.

Horton’s Kids provides workshops to help mentors develop the skills and knowledge they need to work with the children. There are dozens of boys and girls ages 10-18 waiting for a mentor. Issues these children may face include:
• Neglect of basic needs at home
• Poor self-esteem

CelebritiesSammy Okposo Back In House On The Rock by vikiviko(op): 11:59am On Sep 27, 2007
It was a show of grace to grass.

Sammy Okposo rose from a singer to be an international  figure under the choir department of  House on the Rock church[CHOSEN TREASURE].

Sammy was spotted at the 3rd service of the church, after almost 3years of suspension. His sins as i was told as to do with women affairs. He was unnoticed , he sat on the last row reserved for backsliding christians.

His nonchalant attitude led to his expulsion, he was a lead singer in Chosen TREASURE.
i HEARD that sammy called Pastor Paul on Phone , and he was shouting Baba BABA , pASTOR paul shouted on him for calling him Baba.
Pastor paul i was told took a snipe on sammy yesterday at the Church's Midweek service where he preached on the terrible ambitions of some men like sammy.
Sammy please find a way to repent and be part of the forthcoming EXPERIENCE 07

CelebritiesEmeka Ike And Jim Iyke In Really Stinky Adultery Mess: by vikiviko(op): 10:13am On Sep 24, 2007
Last week, I got to hear that Emeka Ike and JIm Iyke were pulling some stunts with a mutual friends wife,  One version of the story has it that Emeka was the one stunting on the lady and when the truth came out, he tried to blackmail Jim, saying he was the guilty one,  This version is from the JIm husband( so I guess it's more authentic, no?) The man who resides in Houston, Texas said he noticed his wife displaying some strange behaviour and went to Emeka for advice. Emeka Ike told him Jim was sleeping with his wife whenever he wasn't around. The man confronted Jim, who denied it and they set a trap to find out the truth, and Emeka Ike was nabbed in a hotel room with the lady.

From the gist, it was gathered that Emeka Ike and the lady in question have petitioned the FBI, saying the aggrieved husband is a 419er and a visa racketeer, hoping to get him deported. He has filed his defence and says he leaves everything to God, but remains bitter that after 'financially helping Emeka Ike for over 10 years, he would turn around to stab him in the back.'

Emeka's defence is that Jim is the one stunting on the man's wife, and that he has never had any need to accept any assistance from the man (huh). He attributes all the developments to pure jealousy(whatever, dude, ) and that the truth will come out eventually. (If you say so, dude!)

I'll keep you posted on the events as they occur,  (I just wish most Nigerian actors and actresses could act half as well as they stir up controversies! And to go all the way to Yankee and start dragging their names in the mud? Thats not cool, )

TravelRe: Ndlea Arrests Seven Drug Traffickers . by vikiviko(m): 6:35pm On Sep 19, 2007
Kudos to the NDLEA.

The fight against drug in Nigeria is the responsibility of all and sundry considerding the staff strength of the NDLEA WHICH is just 3500.

I had the opportunity of having a chat with the Director of Admin and Finance of the NDLEA Dr Daniel ISMAIL, he told me the many challenges of the NDLEA.
The recent United Nations document which spotlighthed Nigeria as a potential drug consuming nation.
One can but imagine what Nigerian youths will turn into if hard drugs like cocaine are easily affordable.
The dother day , men of the NDLEA traced a farmland in Ikorodu area of Lagos where cannabis is been planted.
Nigerian youth who are desperate to travel should be carefdul because they are easily singled out to be profiled by this barons.
This Barons know the kind of persons they use, pretty ladies fall ino this categories also.
You need to visit the NDLEA prisons to see beautiful girls caught in the act.

TravelRe: Travel/ Volunteer Events by vikiviko(op): 5:57pm On Sep 19, 2007
There is more variety than you would expect. You can go for a long or short term placement, individually or with a group. You can pay for the experience; sometimes your travel or living expenses will be covered. If you have development experience, you can apply to be a project leader or for a grant to fund your own project. Whatever your experiences, in most volunteer positions you will find yourself presented with a wealth of possibilities beyond those outlined in the job description and you will be able to stretch your ingenuity and creativity

TravelRe: Canada Study Visa Palava by vikiviko(m): 1:28pm On Sep 12, 2007
Student visas for canada must be applied exactly 90days before the commencement of the academic year.

So be weary of the date you are suppose to resume and the day you intend to submit.

Student applications in canada are always cumbersome, make sure all your documents are in place.

If you need assistance in any documents preparation or advise , let me know

All the best.
TravelRe: Tourism/visiting Visa Success Stories: by vikiviko(m): 10:16am On Sep 11, 2007
I have applied for a tourism visa to Turkish Republic of North Cyprus some months ago .
I was told to provide my details and travel itinery.I paid for a 2 weeks city tour of the capital and my accomodation was provided by a volunteer organisation in Cyprus.
My visa was posted to me via the internet, unfortunately i didn't make the trip due to engagements here.
Tourism visas are mostly granted to journalist.
But ordinarily if you are applying for a tourism visa, make sure you have secured an accomodation as in paying for it and arrange a tour agent to secure a scheduled tour program.
We have so many kind of tourismfrom sports, religion, business and academic
CelebritiesCaution Friday Kujah by vikiviko(op): 10:06am On Sep 11, 2007
Yesterday i was invited by colleageus of mine who are journaLIST to the Eko hotel in Victoria island, lagos to have a chat  with super Eagles Player Osaze Odemwingie and Austion Ejide.

I arrived there an hour before schedule, we waited endlessly b4 they finally arrived, they apologised and told us to wait.

Then madness eruptedness, Soccer Ambassador Friday Kujah became hysterical and said osaze should not grant us interview because we are fake journalist, everyone there identified himself, from the EDitor of Daily Trust Newspaper, to a staff wrirter in Sun newspaper, a photo journalist fron Encomium, a reporter form TV3 CABLE,

They invited us to join them to eat , but we chose to remain ourselves till after the chat.In the process of trying to talk to osaze by a colleague of mine, friday kujah slapped this journalist and was boasting he will arrest him and close his media house.
what is this country turning to, a soccer ambassador slapping a journalist and hindering the boys from talking.

OSAZE WAS BEMUSED WATCHING.

I CONDEMM THE ACTIONS OF KUJAH, HE WAS RUDE, ARRogant and more or like an executive area boy trying to get something out of osaze.
at the end of the day, osaze did apologise though with contempt.

i now wonder the behaviors and actions of some this Super Eagles players, they are fools of themselves and arrogant.

This man called kujah is known to be a problem to press guys whenever they approach  players of super Eagles for interviews .
please anyone who knows kujah should please caution him
SportsRe: Super Eaglet's Victory Attributed To Yar'adua's Good Luck. by vikiviko(m): 9:45am On Sep 11, 2007
Yar'adua is a lucky man i want to believe.
For Nigeria to have won the world cup at his time in office would always be mentioned in history.
history and posterity as a way of judging leaders who one time or the other have ruled men and nations.
they either celebrate, eulogise, cast or wish you away.
am sure every Nigerian can attest to times of IBB, Abacha, Abdulsalam and Obj.History has posited a story for us all to readin all spheres.
So i celebrate with the President and commander in chief, up Eaglets.
