A young man who determined to blow up a plane and take is own life must be said to be sick and at a state of suicidal mission, how can you stop a man determined to take is own life ?

It was the spirit of Christmas probably that stopped Mutability.

Parental guidance stopped when he left the shores of Nigeria.

In this age of Cyber Parents must be very watchful of there wards, the internet alone can train up a child in the way Muttallab chose if parental guidance is suspect.

Its no time to apportion blames but to detect and report every suspecting Muttallabs.

Politics / Nigerian Expats Decry Attempt To Blast Us Airliner by vikiviko(m): 6:15pm On Dec 28, 2009
Nigerian expatriates in Doha have condemned the attempt to blow up a Northwest Airlines plane as it prepared to land in Detroit on Christmas Day.

They are especially pained that the man suspected to be involved is a fellow Nigerian Umar Farouk Muttalab, the son of one of country’s top bankers.

Nigerians here have joined their government and their countrymen back home in condemned the acts.

Qatar Tribune’s Ikoli Victor spoke with Nigerian residents in Doha. Excerpts:

YUSUF IBRAHIM Nigerian IT Professional “I am totally against any form of terrorist act.

My only consolation here is that more and more Nigerians are coming out in large numbers, as evident from the posting on the internet, to condemn this barbaric and wicked act.

I do not recollect having read about people of other nations, particularly Muslim ones, whose nationals have been accused of terrorist acts, coming out in public or otherwise to condemn the acts.

As a Muslim I know Islam does not support acts of terrorism.

I also don’t believe all Americans, or any right thinking person for that matter, would assume that all 150 million Nigerians are terrorists.

CHUCKS INNOCENT Nigerian expatriate “This is not only bad morally but also because it would shift the glare of the World on Nigeria.

Nigerians will now be subjected to thorough profiling at international airports worldwide.

The already dented image has been further affected; the act is un-Nigerian and must be accordingly dealt with.

An unanswered question is if truly the father made a call on US embassy to monitor the son’s tendencies, how did he fly from Lagos and Amsterdam? I think the security lapses at our airports are becoming too obvious”.

OLUSEGUN TAIWO Nigerian Engineer “First and foremost, this attack has nothing to do with the Government of Nigeria; secondly no suicide bomber is from a wealthy home.

The International media should be responsible and reasonable in reporting its commentaries on this issue as investigations are ongoing.

However Nigerians are not known for terrorist acts so it’s a case that must be thoroughly investigated.”

BAYO ANJORIN Nigerian Health Safety Officer Its unfortunate that acts of terror are perpetuated with the aim of destroying lives and properties, in this case I condemn the act and feel troubled why a Nigerian is involved, the home-grown fundamentalist extremism in northern Nigeria should be checked bearing in my mind that al Qaeda and like-organisations that are part of the syndicate of terror would seek a foothold anywhere they could find one.

The federal government should top up security checks at our airports and improve on new means of security.

ADE AJAYI Nigerian Quantity Surveyor We are embarrassed by this incident and we strongly condemn the alleged action by this young man, but it should be seen as isolated incident.

I don’t think we have organised Islamist militants in Nigeria who are inclined to such a criminal and violent act.

We condemn such as acts of extremism and actions.

Politics / Nigerians In Qatar Talk On Yar'adua's Health by vikiviko(m): 6:32pm On Dec 11, 2009
Suffering from sickness, president must quit: Nigerian expats

The prolonged illness of Nigerian President Musa Yara’dua and his treatment at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, has sparked off rumours about political uncertainty in the country and has become a matter of concern for people living in Nigeria and abroad.

The president has been diagnosed as suffering from acute Pericarditis (an inflammatory condition of the coverings of the heart).

The continued illness has also prompted many people to seek Yara’- dua’s resignation on grounds of ill health, while there are others who feel that he will be in good health soon and resume his duty.

Qatar Tribune’s Ikoli Victor talked to a number of Nigerians living in Qatar to find out what they think about their president’s health and its implications with regard to their country.

WALE ADU Qatari Diar staff I wish the president quick recovery, but it is sad that information regarding his health is being kept secret from the public.

I am also embarrassed to find that our leaders rush to foreign hospitals to seek medicare.

Does it mean that our national hospital in Abuja and other hospitals and health centres across the country are useless? I really worry for the Nigerians who do not have the money to afford costly treatment abroad.

I hope that he is fit to resume his duty soon.

GBENGA ALADESANMI Music teacher I wonder why did the president go abroad for treatment this time when a couple of years ago he had a liver transplant in Nigeria.

I do not know how serious is his illness.

I hope he gets well soon and serves his full term in office.

No one in this world knows the time, the place and when they are going to die.

I am patriotic and will pray for his quick recovery.

In fact, we should all pray for him and the country.

Yara’dua has done much for Nigeria in his short term in office, so I want him to be healthy fast.

DAVID OLARENWAJU Construction engineer Yes, the President is sick.

Who doesn’t fall sick? Please let’s rise above rumours and pray for his early recovery.

I wonder why Nigerians, especially those living abroad, find nothing good in their country and they keep complaining.

GODWIN AWINORON Qatar Airways staff The president’s ill health has dogged his administration right from the beginning.

A sick man cannot govern a country like Nigeria that has a number of problems.

I hope he is fine soon as that is in the best interests of the country.

OJ MILLAR Dohanaija president The call for nine-day prayers for the president’s recovery is a welcome development.

The nation will suffer more if he continues to remain sick.

He needs to get back to office and complete the seven-point agenda he has set for governance.

I wish the president quick recovery.

OLUSEGUN OLUWATOYINBO Nigerian tourist We are aware that our president is seriously sick.

We wish the president a speedy recovery and our best wishes are with him.

However, we are concerned about rumours that some people are against the Vice President Goodluck Jonathan taking over from the sick president.

Nigerians will not accept it.

BODE LAWOYIN IT specialist As Nigerians continue to wait for their president to recover, an online news site Saharareporters has said that doctors have insisted that he requires a prolonged stay in the hospital, at least till the end of January for proper medical care and therapy.

It is for Yar’adua to decide whether he wants to resign or stay in office.

Politics / Re: Scrap 36 States Now —anyaoku by vikiviko(m): 5:27pm On Dec 02, 2009
Regionalism will be our greatest undoing it failed in the first republic.

Regionalism or Unitary system will only succed in creating majority and minority states which is our bane today underdevlopment, curruption, nepotism etc

Nigeria is too sophistiscated and too large for one President to manage. I suggest we operate loose confederation an association of sovereign member states, that by law have delegated certain of their exclusivity to common institutions, in order to coordinate their policies in a number of areas, without however constituting a new state on top of the member states
The 36 states in Nigeria should be sovereign to have its flag, anthem, religions, time zone, police etc
The American example is a good one for us to learn from , though there's federal because of the unity in diversity. However how diversity is our major problem here. There is no point staying together with too much attachments to ourselves.
The 36 states should be allowed to develop on its own while adhering to the laws guiding the confederation.
Under a loose confederal system the proposed constitution is built on a confederate structure where state law is superior law, and the individual states retain their sovereignty and independence, including the right to secede.

This structure encourages competition between governmental units and ensures that government continues to obey the wishes of the citizens.

The central government's task is to take care of the common good as defined by the citizens in their collective capacities, ease cooperation, provide the states and the citizens with alternate solutions to their concerns, and provide cohesion and guidance. But if the people of one of the member states reject confederate legislative proposals, it has no power to compel enforcement.
Politics / Nigerian Pastor Wields So Much Power In Ukraine by vikiviko(m): 5:31pm On Dec 01, 2009
Pastor Sunday Adelaja of Embassy of God Church is been tageted for indictment on allged fraud and treason. He pastors the largest church in Europe, plots have been uncovered that a section of the Ukrainian government is behind the drama.

The charges are part of the plot to edge him out of reckoning in the forthcoming presidential elections in the country. Lawyer to Adelaja, Mr. Femi Falana who has urged the Nigerian government through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to intervene in the matter said the on-going persecution of Adelaja which has gone on for almost a year is as a result of the influence of his Church . Mayor of the city of Kiev, the Ukrainian capital, Lenoid Chernovetskiy described the current ordeal of the Nigerian pastor as an indication of political repression that may have been designed to whittle the support base of Adelaja.

The Ukrainian Minister of Internal Affairs, Juriy Lutsenko had accused Adelaja of involvement in the fraud that closed down a company in the country- King's Capital. But Lutsenko's condemnation of Adelaja has been said to be in gross contravention of the laws of Ukraine which forbids any man to be labeled criminal until he is proven guilty.

Today Pastor Adelaja cannot under current restrictions leave Ukraine and he is the victim of a vicious and deliberate plan to discredit and ultimately destroy him and the Embassy of God purely for the purpose of checking their growing influence and by such means the political chances of those perceived to be his friends.

Father deliver Ya'r adua from cancer and death.
Impress on him to accept Jesus as lord and savior, because by his stripes he can only be healed.
You own the hearts of kings , father decide today what you will do with his heart either to resign , die in his sick bed or accept Jesus and continue in office.

From me, Quick recovery.

Let God be judge!
