Jobs/Vacancies / Re: UBA Aptitude Test: What To Expect? by visitor30(m): 11:03am On Aug 25, 2011
doreesy4k:

please where is the venue of the text i want to gatecrash

read gmat maths, antonyms and synonyms, know the name of the GMD , chairman, the meaning of their logo that is mustard seed, the name of minister of finance the name of secretary gen of UN

You are free to gate crash!
But as long as u have an evidence to show that u got an invitation in the form of either an sms or an email printed out. The reason is that they have a list all invited guest for the aptitude test. (so either an sms forwarded to you by your friends who were or invited or an email sent to them. You can print it and go along with it)

I did gate crashed in 2004 & got the job. thought left few yrs latter. my friend in Zenith bank who was invited forwarded his invitation letter to me. the invitation letter was not customized one back then. so it was easier printing it out from my email account.

During my time, you need to be familiar/good with the basic arithmetic. I call it arithmetic, because its the basic foundation of mathematics. example profit & loss, Ratio etc.

Pass mark den was 60%. We where told that the result will be out the next morning and we should come prepare for interview, for those who will be successful. It actually came out as promised the next day.
I did my interview the next day. The funny things there was that nobody knew it was UBA, but we all knew it was one of the 1st generation banks.
It was during the aptitude test in one of the questions, asking when the UBA was established that we knew it was UBA.

Go to their website and digest every information about UBA. Date of establishment [example: When it came into operation;  pre & post merger (ie former standard trust bank/erstwhile UBA to give you the Legacy UBA, which is the current UBA of today.
when I say everything, I mean every information about them, like who was the past and who is the current CEO/MD

Also know your current affairs regarding Nigerian financial sector. meaning of most of these abbreviations ( examples: NAFDAC, ICPC, NDLEA, NDIC, AMCON,  etc) You can add more. Try and know their Core Values and their mission & vision statements also.

I wish you  all the best!

Car Talk / Re: Have You Bought A Ride From Coutonou? -share Ur Experience Pls! by visitor30(m): 10:52pm On Aug 12, 2011
Am loving this thread because it is a sure eye opener for a lot of us. be that as it may, I want to ask here again, it seems that from what a lot of us are saying here is that majority of the cars on car stand/shops in Lagos all come with GENUINE CUSTOMS PAPER? I beg to differ here, reason being that even cars that come in through our own ports can also be cleared with fake Customs paper. Right or Wrong? I stand to be corrected here, because I've heard agent say they can also fly cars from our port here in Lagos.  A friend of mine said we go thief am commot from Wharf and just give Customs small thing, den go get papers outside.

like Femmy & others have said here, the choice is yours as a buyer to make, whether to have your vehicle smuggled through the land boarders of you pay the correct Customs Duty and have a free driving experience each time you are on the road.
The variety in the choice of vehicles is what makes the Cotonou experience a better deal. Some will say order your vehicle from the US or Europe and have a better deal. but I tell you it has its own issues when the person decides to fail you.
Am still recovering from such nasty experience, even when the person is a close friend. Human beings can fail you when it comes to dealing with MONEY.
People all I can say is be wise and be warned! Shine your eyes and ask loads & loads of questions.The clearing process has been made simple and its something you can do all by yourself. Most of us Nigerians are not patient enough to wait for something, we are always in a hurry and that is why a lot of us falls victims. Out there there very good and honest Cotonou car dealers who can get you what you what and at your terms.!

One Love!

@visitor30,

Thanks man for wanting to help. But like i said, i already went for the training. i did that at Afrihub Cisco Networking Academy. Right now, i know so much, but they are all theory and all my configurations are in packet tracer.

Well, since you've got ur configs in packet tracer, its still d samething, though a lot of folks say this GNS3/Dynagen/Dynamips is better. me think d bottom line is for wan to know the basics, which i think you have from the cisco academy. am still tryin ma hands on the GNS3/Dynagen/Dynamips thing.
i was able to get past the error i posted earlier on, but right now the only limitation am having is that ma system is a 1GB Ram. so am looking for an upgrade anytime soon.
Computers / Re: CISCO Thread: CISCO Professionals Identify Yourselves by visitor30(m): 5:16pm On Mar 30, 2009
@House,
i know its been quite a longtime. i've been veri busy at the office tryin to tidy up sometins. However, i've got som issues wit my Dynagen & GNS3 setup. everything is running very fine,except i cannot telnet/console on to the routers in my sample lab, attached is the error message i got when i try to telnet/console to the router.

@Toya_tc,
I know how u feel when u wanna do somtin nad u're limited by environmental factors. I tink my colleagues in our warri office, went for a course somwer in warri der, for a cisco ccna training wit hands on lab training. i will get in touch with them and get the name of the training center for you.
But if we can get this Dynagen thing rite, its worth more than any training one can get, believe you me.

@Nateev,
wats up man, can u take a look at the attached error i got in tryin to run telnet on my Dynagen, will sure appreciate any solution.
Another problem scenario am lookin at is, how do u add a host/pc to you dynagen or are u going to use virtual pc or ur local system as ur host. and how do u do same with GNS3?

Thanks to all of you!!!!

@nateevs,
thanks 4 ur posts. i've net had time to do any configuration since then. had some task at work to perform. we wer asked by our MD to block internet access too all other staff except the managers. so wer working on that task.

@qutebloke.
as for the trainin video u can use torrentz to search for it and then use utorrent to download the file. wen u search with torrentz, it will give u different sites to get it, go to thepiratesbay to get the file, but be sure ur internet connection is fast.

@house,
we all can share in this forum as its not meant for just d initiator of the thread. we can share watever experiences or knowledge we have on cisco devices. i wish all of us a blessed day and will post ma experience leta.

@natvees,
Hey man wats up and were have you been.
succeeded in downlaoding the files and installled the dynamips on my system. i was able to downlaod an ISO file. going through the setup video my ISO file came out as a .bin file system and d example in the video uses an IMAGE file system.
On the Dynagen Sample Labs, that which came with installation on Sample1 uses a .net file system and after editing with either notepad/wordpad, it refuse to save tellin you that you dont have access to save the file.
In d video tutorial d file format der is diff.

@nateevs,

well dat happens to b d user name i choose, am no longer a visitor to this forum, only seun wont allow me change ma user name and still retain all ma previous post.

talking about sadikhov, i actuall 1st came in contact wit that site way back in 2006, but i was wrkin wit a bank den and was lookin 4 a way to improve ma ict skills and change jobs. well d rest is history now.

Like i said b4 now, this thread is a dream come through and an answer to d prayers of most of us here. its reali gonna afford us the opportunity to learn and share from the knowledge & experience of others.

In my own case, i reali dont get to do much on the cisco router we have in d office. its just 4 our internet connection. d switches we have are not cisco switches and as such ma cisco trainin & cert is not bein put to productive use. no much of Hands-on working experience.

But with the dynamips, i believe by the time i set up a system for it, i can sure play around nd get lots of stuff done.

let me try the rapidshare link again. pls how were u able to hide d url to ur rapidshare site & replace it with ''here'' would like to learn dat, so i dont go about displayin full addresses of url links. Thanks
Computers / Re: CISCO Thread: CISCO Professionals Identify Yourselves by visitor30(m): 12:02pm On Mar 02, 2009
@Nicesoul,
wer u able to check the website i mentioned sadikhov try dis = http://www.sadikhov.com/forum/index.php?showforum=81
you can get a lead way on how to get d dynamips gns3 emulation application here.
What am planning on doin is to get a high end system to use for this project. to be frank wit you man, we sure need this Hands-on becos its wat will seperate us from the ordinary professional. i remember an interview i went for sometime ago, i was ask how many routers do i have on my current netwrk and how often do i work on d routers,
Computers / Re: CISCO Thread: CISCO Professionals Identify Yourselves by visitor30(m): 10:43am On Mar 02, 2009
Hello people, i must commend nateevs 4 the effort and time in setting up a thread like this one on CICO. I'm a cisco certfied CCNA nd wrk as a system/netwrk admin in a small firm here.
This is a very nice thread on this forum, in preparing 4 ma CCNA 2years ago, i joined a forum called sadikhov dot com, a very nice forum and you meet people who re ready and willing to share their knowledge, experience and materials with you at no cost.

i remember wen i was about to write ma CCNA, i need to practice wit the latest dumps after my study, on dat same forum a guy who just bought the dump with his cash, uploaded d link to d same dump he bought just about a week.

What am i sayin here, wit people like nateevs and the rest of you guys making excellent contributions here, i want to sey dat we are ready to make a great change in our society nad especially here in naija.

But like some1 said here, we re most times limited to access to study materials and the few people who have them will want to give it out to you 4 a fee. am not sayin that is bad, but i've come to realize, from our Asian brothers that d more u share your materials and experinces the more you get to learn same too. Thanks to all you guys.

But as for the DYNAMPIS i've heard about it even downloaded it but yet to start makin use of it. wer i wrk, we have just a single cisco router 4 our internet access and dats it. so talkin about Hands-on(both at home & at wrk) like Nicesoul mentioned is problem in itself.
We all do knw also, dat all these stuff too cost money and which most of us dont have free access to.

But however, wit a thread like this one(I pray it stays this way and achieve its success) we are about to break that barrier and move to the next level.
@nateevs, the Rapidshare link is not working, please do somthing about it.

Career / Re: Best Paying Professional Career In Nigeria? by visitor30(m): 9:27am On Feb 02, 2009
B.O.S.S.:

But how true is this? My colleague whom we had our masters together in the UK was inerviewed in the UK by Exxon-Mobil and though she went to Nigeia last September, however she just told me yesterday that she's been offered the job and would be paid 10Million Naira per annum.

How true is this information? More so, when she was having the interview in the UK, she said she'll be paid 12Million Naira per annum (according to her) but she's now said 10Million Naira. Do they really pay that much in Nigeria (I mean the oil companies?)

She's only 26 by the way. And she's not working as an engineer but as an accountant.

Anyone with an insight?
GUY, u be nigerian so, or u don loose touch of happenings in d country? I know of som1 dat mtn pays 14Mil/annum and other people who earn much more than the quoted figures.
YES THE OIL COMPANIES IN NIGERIAN PAY THAT MUCH & SO MUCH MORE,
