Career / Re: Salary Structure Of Etisalat, Zain, MTN, Glo? by visitor30(m): 9:15am On Feb 02, 2009
VOM:

It depends on your field, this information is for sales people.
Etisalat is the highest paying telecomms coy(in the gsm sector)(though new and one cant say its tested and trusted in tne Nigerian market), followed by mtn(u can build your career here),then glo(no job security and its un structured)finally zain(also an excellent place to build a career).
Whatever decisions u take on a career move should based only on what the pay is, make adequate research about thye coy,and most importantly pray for God to lead you,he wont mis manage ur life,
cheers
I quite agree with you!!!

Career / Re: Whats The Need In Changing Another Job by visitor30(m): 10:56am On Jan 30, 2009
Tgirl4real:

Basically, they believe the more jobs they change the more their chances to climb the corporate ladder faster. Guys use this to boost their CV.

I don't support this trend. I believe in employee loyalty. At least, stay with your firm for a considerable length of time before jumping to another one except if the working condition is not favourable. Money is not everything.

In as much as we all want to say that Money ain't everything, lets face the fact and be truthful to ourselves, why would i want to stay in a firm that wont pay me so much for ma worth, just because am being treated so well. on what basis. Money usually comes first b4 we talk about Job satisfaction and not the other way round. I'm victim of the school of thought that use to believe that its job satisfaction 1st before Money. Now am paying the price of such a stupid decision i took when i left my Banking job for where i am today.

People, Its all about the Benjamin's 1st and then all others will fall into place, just ma 2kobo contribution shah, Tnks
Autos / Re: 2006 Jeep Liberty (straight From US). Sold by visitor30(m): 6:50pm On Dec 27, 2008
@post,
great vehicle u've got there. but i must say that the price is too high for what you are asking.
An old school friend of mine is bringing same model for 1.6m directly from the USA to the door steps of another friend of ours.(cost of purchase, cost of shipment and clearing cost is all what the guy is paying for)
i can understand that the price of dollar to the naira has gone up, but try negotiating with the person that offered 1.7mil. you never can tell what will come out of it.

my two cents!!!

i want a powerbike but my fear is d mechanics here they dint know how how to repair it here
If you say so, how then do the guys who own those bikes there in Lagos fix or maintain their bikes?
You can find out from middleman where to find a good mechanic that can fix your bike, when you eventually get one.That should not be a problem for you. Thanks

Romance / Re: She Keeps Many Boyfriends And Insists They Are Platonic by visitor30(m): 3:23pm On Dec 10, 2008
@Topic,
Its okay for her to keep such male friends.

Don_Ese125:

Quite frankly,i'm very suprised at the immaturity that's vividly portrayed in some of these posts. What's with all these peeps advising him to have a horde of female "friends"? That's not only immature,its stupid. He's 35,he's not a kid anymore. If he honestly believes that there's no hope for them,then he shld take a walk. I think that would be a mistake if the girl is innocent. Having a lot of guy frnds doesnt mean a girl is cheatin,e.g-my 1st best friend is a guy,my 2nd,a guy & my 3rd,also a guy,but i'd certainly not cheat with any of them. D only tin wrong wit what she did was not pickin d call in his presence. That in itself isnt necessarily wrong,because there are some people who are very private. Her not taking d calls in ur presence doesnt necessarily mean she's hiding sumn,she cld just be a very private persn.

But what i definitely don't agree with here is the fact that she takes those calls in private, to me no matter the kind of privacy one might have in life such things are not allowed in a relationship, we are talking about two people who are in a relationship here oh, not just mereĀ  casual friendship or hanging out or something like that people!!!

Why won't she be able to take those calls in front of the guy and she goes on to talk for hours as well? Common people, She is taking him for granted and not showing him respect at all.

Sincerely speaking, if i may ask the ladies in the house how many of you can take such from your man, if he tells you that he has nothing to do with such girls, just a platonic friendship

Please try talk with her and tell her how you feel about the whole thing. Communication can go a long way is solving a lot of issues in a relationship.

ishmael:

I don't understand ur answer very well. Are you saying if a job advert requires a Bsc Degree, someone with HND + PGD can also apply for that same job and will be considered?

Ishmael, the word you used there is APPLY!!!
Yes they can apply and if the company's employment policy allows them to get past the screening stage so be it.

Why're you asking MrCrackles what he meant by this statement!
MrCrackles:

I say yes you can! grin
Or your question doesn't require a YES or NO answer!!!!

Certification And Training Adverts / Re: Ccie Training Now In Nigeria. by visitor30(m): 8:19am On Dec 05, 2008
@Chidoski,
CCIE=Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert is the highest certification in the Cisco career certification path of the internetworking area of the ICT world.
Go to www.cisco.com and read/learn more about it. But before you can ever think or dream of that cert, you must first pass the Cisco CCNA exam, this will give you a background foundation/undersatanding of what networking is all about, if you want to follow that path.
Career / Re: After Your Msc Abroad: Stay Or Go? by visitor30(m): 7:55am On Dec 05, 2008
while i quit agree with most of the posters about the stress & difficulty in getting a job after an Msc abroad, i will equally like to state few observations here.
A lot of people that go abroad for their masters degree programme are people that just left NYSC and without any prior working experience. you come back and you expect to get that very fat and wonderful job? come its not don that way, thats why most time you have to stay back and get a few months working experience to be able to fit in.
I equally agree that it still boil down to the particular course you studied. if i may ask most of us, what is the main reason why we went for the Msc in d first place?
A lot of us just went because we had the means or resources to do so, without actually thinking about it or making adequate plans of what will follow after the degree.
Some quit ok, do get good jobs after the whole programme right there in d UK and back home too.
But i think the best thing to do for most engineering graduates that have the means and resources to pursue their Msc abroad is to try and secure a job here in any of the small companies here, no matter ha small the pay might be, work there for a year or two and secure a study leave without pay, den go for your Msc. that way your are sure of job by time you get back home and from there you can opt for a better paying job, because you now have both the working experience and a degree abroad to add to your CV.
A friend of mine who is currently doing his Msc abroad after working for about 3 yrs now, is being called left right and center for interviews by most of our multinational companies why?
Because, he has gotten some yrs of oil & gas working experience and now undergoing an Msc program in very good school out there.
But, everybodies case can't be the same. I believe with faith and prayers, we all can make it someday, its just a matter of time all things will fall into place.
But if you don't get a job immediately, try staying back and if after 6months or a year, you still don't get anything i will advice you come back home and who knows!!!
Wishing you all the best,

Career / Re: . by visitor30(m): 12:03pm On Nov 05, 2008
@Poster,
What is your filed of engineering? It all boils down to what you want in life and what your career goals are.
As for me i read elect/Elect Egineering, worked in the bank after my NYSC, but i left two years after, because i wanted to be in pure engineering sector. I ended up as an IT support engineer in an oil & gas servicing company. But today(more than two yrs na) i tell you am back to the bank, but in their IT dept and talk about pay its far far more than what i was earning.
So the choice is all yours to make!!! Follow your passion.

Poster that was a real nice piece. Keep up your good write up and i believe the Etisalat team will surely get to see this. like a poster offer to make sure dey see it. Good luck to Etisalat, am waitin for you guys,

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Oceanic Bank Vs Etisalat Nigeria by visitor30(m): 7:10pm On May 23, 2008
@jalo,
i will disagree with you when u say that telecoms is not it.1st and foremost what did u study as your 1st degree and are you talking about any of the three big telecoms company like Glo etc or the PTO's like Mutlilinks etc or their servicing company?
Etisalat is paying so much, that i knw of. i know of people people that have left MTN for them. Even VISAPHONE that just came is doing same. In the telecom industry you get updated with latest technology and if you are not an engineering or science inclined person or someone that has no passion for it, you cant fit in. I was once with the Bank and i left even with the fat salary, where time dey to take even enjoy you money. Its ok if you wanna build a career there, but i left becos i was not enjoyin the job, not because of the pay its all about your passion and satisfaction on the job. but still with good pay too.
@poster,
what i will say to you is nothing different from what most people have said here, But i will say, ask yourself this simple question? WHAT DO I REALLY WANT IN LIFE AND WHERE DO I WANT TO BE IN THE NEXT SAY 10YEARS. Its all about your passions. right now both jobs are paying good salary, so go for the one that you feel you will get satisfaction from and will also take you to your promise land, with good career growth and plan for your retirement as well.
