Who has success stories as regarding topping up agm batteries with distilled water from time to time?
I do understand agm are said to be maintenance free but research says that's not entirely true and mentioned they could be topped up.

So I do want to understand, if it's been practiced and not just theoritical view.

Oh! I added distilled water to a gatson 12v200a battery of about 9 month old due to the fact that it wasn't retaining charge and found out the cells where dry. After adding water the battery started getting hot and losing volts, so I had to quickly drain out the battery.
Any insight on why it became hot after adding water because before I added water the battery was cold.

When you add distilled water to your battery, leave it open and connect your external battery charger to it, while charging, it will be hot and some of the distilled water will escape. When its fully charged, you can now cover your battery. If you notice the battery is swelling up while charging, then your battery must have gone bad.
The battery wont be hot when you charge it subsequently except if the battery is bad.
I've done this for all my 3 batteries and they are still going strong. Hope this helps

I want to upgrade to a registered Nissan Pathfinder 2005 or 2006. I have a Nissan Xterra 2001 auto transmission in good condition with AC, 4 brand new tires to sell or betterstill add,money to exchange it for the Nissan pathfinder. Can you work something out?

You're correct, I know two people who have been using it for over five years

I have one of it in my bedroom, I've been using it for almost 4 years now. Its so sensitive that if anything goes wrong, it goes into protect mode immediately so as to save the inverter.

picture (1) connection shows that d two battery will discharge and charge at same rate while picture (2) shows that d battery DAT connects out will discharge and charge faster than the second battery.

To choose the best parallel connection, i will advise u stick to picture (1).

From my experience, it could work. Let him first of all check if their is a spark when he tries to connect the positive terminal and the negative terminal. If he gets a spark, he might be lucky. However, if the heat has melted the container and the container couldn't hold the distilled water, that is where he will have a problem.
I actually bought my battery (slim battery) from a friend that works with one of the GSM telecommunication company and you know most of the telecom companies buys original batteries. I really didn't want to abandon my batteries for these china made batteries.
There is no harm in him trying it out. He really has nothing to lose.

You remind me of experimental days when we cut open a sealed agm lead acid battery and apply distilled water or electrolyte for revival sake ! I believe the op uses a sealed battery and not flooded , I also read where the op said somtin about "swollen/bulged" battery . I don't really advice a DIY client to toy around acid - battery for safety sake as the chance of revival is highly infinitesimal !

This thing is very simple. Infact, i just did same this evening for a UPS 7.5ah battery. The battery is fully back to life. I couldn't get AC water so last night i kept a container on top of my car outside and collected rain water. When i came back from service this morning, i filtered the water with a new handkerchief and poured it inside the battery and charged it till the battery was full.
Now, the battey is back inside the UPS working very very well. Batteries don't die easily ooo. Rain water can also serve as distilled water. If you can't get ac water, use rain uncontaminated water.

He was Indeed a great priest and a teacher. I served him as an alter boy at St Michael's Catholic Cathedral Minna. He also thought me English Language in Government Secondary School Minna (GSS).
