"I declared my assets and the Vice President also did. Those who feel otherwise about our assets declaration should come up with our hidden assets.

If they knew that we have more than what we declared then or now, I challenge them to expose it locally and to the international community...."

"I can't be championing ANTI CORRUPTION war and still be lobbying them(NASS) to pass the budget I presented to them about six months ago. Lobbying them with what? I can't be championing ANTI CORRUPTION war and still be lobbying them(Judiciary) to respect the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, lobbying them with what?

"We must put pressure on the right quarters. Although, we must allow every arm to exercise its due diligence....."

Nairaland / General / Why SARS Will Not Be Disbanded – ACP Jimoh Moshood by Vitalnews9ja: 10:24am On Jul 04, 2018
The Police Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters, ACP Jimoh Moshood, has said the killing of seven officers in Abuja has shown the need for the Special Anti-robbery Squad (SARS).

The officers were killed in Galadimawa area of the Federal Capital Territory on Monday night.

Speaking with reporters in Abuja on Tuesday, Moshood said efforts were in place to arrest those who killed the officers in the line of duty.

He added that the force would not leave any stone unturned in bringing the perpetrators to book.

"The killing of the policemen goes a long way to prove that the call for the disbandment of the SARS is not justified,” he said.

Nairaland / General / 2019: PDP Will Get Only 10 Votes In Southeast – Timipre Sylva by Vitalnews9ja: 9:26am On Jul 04, 2018
Former Governor of Bayelsa State, Chief Timipre Sylva has said the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, will score only 10 votes in the South-east during the 2019 general elections.

He noted that if the region could deny the PDP about six million votes in 2015, the party should expect greater disappointment.

Speaking at the South-East mega rally for President Muhammadu Buhari’s second term bid, Sylva said: “I know for a fact that the South-East did some magics in 2015.

The zone delivered eight million votes to PDP in 2011, and in 2015 the votes were reduced to two million and in 2019, 8 million votes will be delivered to APC in the South-East and further reduce the votes of PDP to ten votes.

“The present administration has done well for the nation. Those complaining are those who enjoyed the profligacy of the past. The majority of Nigerians are with APC and President Muhammadu Buhari”.

Nairaland / General / Ranching: You Owe A Land Only When You’re Alive – Presidency by Vitalnews9ja: 9:18am On Jul 04, 2018
Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Chief Femi Adesina has said that people owe lands only when they are alive.

Adesina said this in connection to the challenge being faced by the government in acquiring land to build ranches for Fulani herdsmen.

Responding to a question on ancestral attachments to land on AIT programme, Adesina said, “Ancestral attachment? You can only have ancestral attachment when you are alive. If you are talking about ancestral attachment, if you are dead, how does the attachment matter?”

Adesina further stated that it was wrong to describe the attacks on farmers as one directed against Christians.

He added, “Hundreds have been killed in Zamfara, are they Christians? People have been killed in Birnin Gwari, are they Christians?

“What is happening is criminality, pure and simple, and it must be brought to an end. Government has a big role to play in this but the people themselves have a role to play.”

Politics / 2019: Pdp ‘exposes Oshiomhole’s Agenda’ In Taraba, Delta by Vitalnews9ja: 8:01am On Jul 02, 2018
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Sunday, accused the National chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Adam Oshiomhole of deploying false assertions, propaganda and instigating confusion to manipulate and muzzle the electoral process in Taraba and Delta states come 2019 general elections.

It, therefore, asked Oshiomhole to steer clear of the states as the plot will be stiffly resisted by Nigerians across the country.

PDP spokesman, Kola Ologbodiyan made the revelation in a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja.

In his words, “We want to assure him that such cannot work in Delta and Taraba states, no matter the machination, as the people are solidly behind the PDP in our quest with majority of Nigerians to rescue our nation from the clutches of the APC.

“Instead of wasting his time fixating on PDP states, we advice Oshiomhole to direct his energy on how to save his crumbling party from the misfortune of being stuck with an unpopular candidate in President Buhari, who has become the fixed omen of inescapable electoral humiliation of the APC in 2019.

Politics / Ekiti Guber: Fayemi Rubbishes Fayose’s White Paper Banning Him From Election by Vitalnews9ja: 9:43am On Jul 01, 2018
The candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC, in the July 14 gubernatorial election in Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi has rubbished the White Paper raised by Ayo Fayose-led government in the state to ban him from seeking political office.

He said that the Supreme Court had ruled against such White Papers in the past on the ground that a citizen’s right to seek elective positions in government cannot be breached based on the report of an administrative panel of inquiry.

VITAL NEWS recalls that the controversial White Paper issued in January 2018 had barred Fayemi from contesting elective office in Ekiti for 10 years.

However, speaking on the controversial matter, ahead of the governorship election, which is barely fortnight away, Fayemi told Vanguard in an interview: “The White Paper cannot stop me or anybody for that matter. Yes, it used to be the case in this country that you can use an administrative panel report or a judicial commission report to orchestrate the ban of a political office holder, but that period has since gone because it became very clear that this was a witch-hunting tool.

“And this is a settled matter by the Supreme Court courtesy of the case between Atiku Abubakar and the Federal Government that you cannot use the report of a commission of inquiry or an administrative panel to ban anyone from public office.

“To the best of my knowledge, I have not even been asked to show up in any court over any allegation. Rabiu Kwankwaso also went through the same experience. He was governor in Kano, went to become a minister and, when he was about coming back as governor, then-governor brought a commission of inquiry report.

"Of course, it was rubbished and the man became governor. I am not the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) but there is judicial precedence.

“Therefore I am sure that the so-called White Paper is of no effect. If anyone has any concrete/verifiable case against me, he/she should prove it in court.”
