Greetings from California!!
In honor of my friend babsfad who just got approved today, I am willing to pay the full cost of GRE for one candidate here who needs it; pls if you can comfortably afford it , leave it for those who can’t.
It’s funny when I look at the happenings in Nigeria from here; it’s quite appalling! Am not discouraging anyone, and this is strictly my opinion but, I believe Nigeria is not for the youth, therefore run while you can. I was living above average in Lagos before I left, but guys, according to the Bible, there is the glory of the sun, and that of the stars and moon, and each one is different! I tell anyone that cares to listen, run, it’s not easy here, but , ‘easy ‘ is in levels. The God that did it for me, will do it for you all.. He is the same God!
For those yet to be approved, put every advice and info you get on this thread to work, do your homework, have faith in God; and you will scale through. Exactly two years ago, I was on the other side.. it’s a lot different now. I give God all the glory!!
Once again, thank you to all my bosses; bigfrancis, justwise, deetus, lagosismyhome, etc. for giving selflessly to this group since I joined in 2016, May the good Lord continue to increase you guys on every side.
Peace and blessings!

You jumped the gun, you should have asked me to clarify my stance first. As is typical of the overly religious Nigerian, you seem to equate "love for god" with ubiquitous using of his name, even when it is not relevant. I do not understand why corrupt people, people who don't prepare in advance, the lazy and those seeking to abuse laws think that god blesses anything they do, as long as they add his name to it. The Bible is clear, God isn't mocked, whatsoever a man does, that shall he reap. I love God... but it's not those that shout lord lord who will enter into the kingdom.

In the very same post by the fellow seeking God for favor for a visa, it is quite obvious many of his proposed visa responses were rehearsed lies. But yet he asks god to bless his labor! Let's be clear, the average Nigerian is about the most religious individual on earth. I guarantee it has zero to do with genuine faith, but a false religiosity borne out of lack and frustration. I'm not impressed by your loud prayers when you need a visa, it's what you do with your faith when no one is watching or when you have all you need that matters most. Good luck.
We are Nigerians and therefore saddled with the innate belief in God from time immemorial. A typical Nigerian believes that God will do everything for him/her. Understand my point, am not imposing belief in God on you, by all means, believe in anything that you fancy; but bringing the contempt to the public demoralizes the many that put their belief in God. For me, being spiritual does not mean suspension of the brain.
Writing 'God', or 'god' makes no difference in this context.
Some peeps here have had the worst interview, but somehow, they got the white paper, while some, after their top-notch preparations and dependence on self were denied. It's all about hardwork and grace. I just wanted to point this out. Cheers.

My dinner nearly went the wrong way after reading that. CMU ranked the #10 business school in the states? Just off the top of my head - UPenn, NYU, Cornell, MIT, Harvard, Stanford, UCLA, Northwestern, U Chicago, Yale, Columbia... the VO will just laugh you out to a blue paper. Obviously your "god" didn't tell you to read and prepare.
Twood, I have been following your obscure comments about God in all of your posts here; what really did God do to you? It's quiet nauseating ! Please, keep your obvious hatred for God to yourself and do what this thread is for!

Local flights in the US very strange

You wee pay for flights normally

Pay for the seat you wee seat on separately

Still pay for you checked in bags and if too much you pay additional fee

Are you sure there is no payment for walking around the airport or breathing the air?[/quote]

Hi everyone.. So this is saying 'thank you' to y'all .. I asked a lot of questions; some of them were stupid but I asked them anyways and got replies.
I settled in pretty fast; .. Everything is moving on well..
Deetus, walspring, slimmy05, impreioux, warriboy, and mzbee. Thank you!
To all the newbies; pray; do your calculations well.. Be truthful and it's more than seeing America in movies; make sure you have enough money before you board any flight to America; well as a student of course.
Peace!

Hi fam'..how are you all? So for those that travelled recently to the US, which food items are not allowed? and also mode of packaging.. Emirates baggage allowance is 2 bags each 23kg; is this strictly the rule or is there exceptions?
My flight is next week.
Thanks y'all...
For the Newbies:
Rule 1: Ask questions
Rule 2: Listen and read instructions here carefully.
Rule 3: Pray,Pray,Pray.
Rule 4: Repeat rules 1,2,3.
Should be writing next from obamaland.
Bye!

Hi Mayflowa, will be entering the US by next month, and my passport will expire April 2017; will be in Nigeria by December, and I plan to renew it then, will I have issues at the POE?
Mayflowa:

You can actually renew your passport before six month to its expiration. I had same issues but it was renewed without stress. Like 9 month to Expiration. Renew your passport before filling your DS2019.

However if you choose to go with your current passport, there won't be any issue at the embassy. You only have to go do renewal before you travel lest you will be denied entrance at the POE

Indeed the earth and everything thereof belongs to Almighty God.
I joined this thread last year with no prior knowledge, today, see where the Lord has brought me. Indeed those that seek him never lack any good thing, and his time is never late!
Ok, yesterday, I realized the mistake I made in my ds160 form, I was momentarily deranged.. I was so afraid.. then I changed my prayers to "God by the blood of Jesus, I cover every error in my application form".
Fast forward to this moring 3am, I was just singing all the worship songs I know..I got to the embassy by 6:30am for 6:30am interview.I said at the gate, I must not leave here without the white paper.
The hustlers at the embassy no gree I just bone dem pass. cheesy
After all the long security checks, we entered the decision hall. The lady at window was busy denying students..I didn't allow the number of blue papers issued to deter me. I said another prayer, ' Holy ghost blow me to the person that will approve my visa."
Immediately I was asked to go to Window 8; I quickly remembered a guy's testimony about window 8...there and then, I knew God has done it..
VO: goodmoring miss, have a seat, why are you going to America.
Me: to pursue a master degree in computer information systems.
VO: why this school?
Me: aside from its affordability, the school has a well structured curriculum that is practical oriented which aligns to my career goal. Also I got interested in an ongoing research by prof willams wimberly(at this stage, he stopped looking at me and started typing).
I paused, and continued..I sent him a mail telling him am interested in the research.
VO: which other schools did u apply to?
Me: uniofmaryland, northcarolinauniversity, unioftexasataustin and calums.
VO: what's your GRE score?
Me: it was waived due to my work experience.
The man provoke, that's not true,Uof Maryland required gre,(at this stage, he was seriously looking at me) I quickly said, yes that was why they refused to admit me.
VO: when did you finish bsc
Me: 2010
VO: what have you been doing?
ME: working at .... As d IT Manager
VO: are you married
Me: No, but am engaged
VO: any children
Me: No
VO: have you travelled before?
ME: haven't had the need to until now.
VO: who is supporting you with this?
Me: my Uncle
VO: what's his name?
Me: xxxxxx
VO: what does he do?
ME: he owns a security company, imports cctv cameras and installs for banks in Nigeria.
VO: looked at me for 30secs, starts typing..... Den the golden words....your is approved.
I am grateful to God the owner of the whole universe.
To my father in the faith, bsp oyedepo...
To DeeTus, guy ,God must change your story this year, this guy painstakingly drilled me set for interview. He kept on calling!
To all the nairalanders , big francis(crushoflife); slimmy2005, justwise, purplesummer, mrmann1.my nigga warriboy21,and a host of others...thank you from my heart cool grin

Thanks babes.
purplesummer:

I don't think that section refers to who pays your flight ticket, I believe it's asking who your sponsor is, ie who sponsors the trip. If you are going to tell the VO that you are sponsoring yourself because you are a working class then your account statement should show it. If your uncle is your sponsor (notwithstanding that you are paying for the flight yourself) then you have to indicate that accordingly.
My humble opinion though.
