Crime › Man To Die By Hanging For Stabbing Neighbour To Death by vizboy(op): 4:30pm On May 16, 2013 |
Benin – A High Court sitting in Abudu in the Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo on Thursday sentenced one Sunday Ilawe to death by hanging for stabbing his neighbour, Blessing Ehigie, to death. Ilawe who stabbed Ehigie with a knife on Oct. 13, 2004 at Egua-Evbu Village had earlier pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge of murder. The Judge, Justice Uro Erameh, convicted Ilawe, after the five witnesses called by the Prosecution Counsel, Mrs Stella Okojie, proved their case against the convict as required by law. The judge found the convict guilty of stabbing Ehigie in the neck and stomach which led to his death. He also held that the convict was arrested at the scene of crime while still holding the knife he used in committing the offence. Erameh emphasised that Ilawe also made confessional statement to the police, adding that the statement alone was enough to send the convict to the gallows. He said that the defence counsel failed to prove that the convict had mental problem before committing the murder. johndwayy: Army begins offensive against Boko Haram, raids Sambisa camp May 16, 2013 | 12:34 pm
KANO – Nigeria has begun an offensive against Boko Haram Islamists, raiding camps in a remote northeastern park, while more than 2,000 troops have been deployed to retake territory seized by the insurgents, a military source told AFP Thursday.
“Our men raided some terrorist camps in the Sambisa Game Reserve,” in Borno state, said the senior officer who requested anonymity. “So far 2,000 troops have been deployed to Borno,” he added, declining to comment on the forces sent to the other affected states of Yobe and Adamawa.(AFP)

yeboyes: I agree with what you have said as it is the ultimate truth.Without advanced intelligence gathering techniques in place ,our boys will just be shooting innocent people at will and will even fall into ambush on the regular. It may however be too late for them to get good intelligence at this stage as this should have been done at least a few months before this SOE.
The DSS or DMI should have planted moles inside Boko Haram sect at least a year ago who would have been giving them info on what BK planns to do next.I however doubt that this has happened as over the past 3 years Boko haram has carried out numerous attacks successfully and caught the security forces napping.
The Nigeria factor always messes things up in the end.Our Military and security services needs a shake up at the top. Competent and well knowledgable men like me should be hired to restore some discipline to these sectors. Our Military is anything but competent ,we should be glad that we have never faced a formidable force otherwise we will realize how indiscipline, lack of foresight, lack of of commitment and planning has weakened our armed forces.Did we not get our asses kicked in Bakassi by Cameroon's army? I Read through all ur post and somebody came to mind. Hmmm MUSIWA |
