Reediano: It makes sense. Thanks! |
![]() |
Reediano: But it does not switch off my data completely. It switches it from SIM 2 to SIM 1. |
![]() |
Reediano:'s Yes I use Battery Doctor. Do you really think this could be the cause? If so how can I configure it to stop switching my data SIM? |

Has someone noticed this problem with this phone? If one sets SIM 2 as the data SIM it keeps setting itself back to SIM one, even though the 3g setting still remains in SIM two. What could be causing this? |

francis247: The one I've experienced is that sometimes when I fix the Data SIM as SIM 2 it changes it to SIM 1 by itself, but the 3G service remains in SIM 2. I wonder what could be causing this. |

Does anyone have a link to where I could download a comprehensive User Guide for the phone? The Quick Start Guide they bundled with the phone is too concise and the Manual for the Hot is not among the ones available for download at their site: http://www.infinixmobility.com/ng/ |

Mizzzbeee: From all indications the fault is from Etisalat. I arrived at this conclusion because after dialing *#06 the IMEI that appeared was the same with the one at the back of the box. Now, IMEI is supposed to be 15 digits but when I text DATA to 8186 the error message which Etisalat returns includes a totally different 14 digit IMEI which they claim is mine hence it"s invalid e.g "The device imei 2536xxxxxx3928 is invalid." On the other two Infinix Hot I bought, it returns the IMEI which is on their box less the last digit hence they still return a 14 digit IMEI. It's as if they've configured their system to skip the last digit of the IMEI even when the first 14 digits are correct. That's it! We are throwing away their yeye SIM and rocking GLO BIS. |

Jephz: You text to 8181? But on the box of the Infinix Hot the sticker says text DATA to 8186. |

Mizzzbeee: I thought the Zero's Gorilla Screen is stronger than that of Infinix Hot? |

VKasparov: Sorry, my mistake. This is an older version. New version comes out January Insha Allah |

Dotng: It's already out. You can get it for about NGN38,000 at http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free-3-Gifts-JiaYu-S3-4G-FDD-LTE-5-5-Inch-MTK6752-Octa-Core-Android-4/32233820769.html |

Why all the excitement about BB IMEIs? Could one use it to activate BIS on Android? Pls fill me in on this as a complete novice in that area. |

AmazingZeus: Thousands of Infinix Hot were sold. Among these lot how many are enjoying the free data? Are you telling us thousands of these codes were generated by people like you? Haba, u be Etisalat staff ne? |

agabaI23: I didn't call. I sent an Email to their customer care service care@etisalat.com |
![]() |
Mizzzbeee: I did and got the reply: "Dear Customer, your device is not eligible for this offer". |
![]() |
Mizzzbeee: I checked and the IMEI on the pack corresponds with what I got when I typed the code *#06#. When I SMS the activation code for the free 500MB the IMEI that Etisalat returns in the SMS telling me my IMEI is wrong is not mine (it's even 14 digits when IMEI is suppose to be 15 digits). |

Sunglow: For Tablets check out: http://activities.aliexpress.com/best-tablets.php The good thing about Aliexpress is that 75% of their products are shipped free of charge and the fees are not much for the 25% that charge shipping fees. |

xule20: Sorry I just couldn't help quoting you. Do you know the Chinese phone manufacturer Xiaomi is now the 3rd largest phone manufacturer in the world (next to iPhone and Samsung)? Do you know the brains behind this company were major western telecommunication gurus who decided to move to China to manufacture phones that would combine the features of iPhone and Samsung into one phone? I just saw the JiaYu S3 mentioned above at: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free-3-Gifts-JiaYu-S3-4G-FDD-LTE-5-5-Inch-MTK6752-Octa-Core-Android-4/32233820769.html The 3gb RAM version was selling for just $204 (NGN 37,751). If the specs on this phone was on an iPhone it could go for about NGN200,000. If it was found on a Samsung Galaxy it would be about NGN100,000. Gone are the days people bank on brand names. Small wonder Samsung Galaxy recorded its highest loss this year. 29 Likes 1 Share |

francis247: Imagine! So who pinned the Etisalat sticker on the box of Infinix Hot stating that they were allocating 500MB free data on activation along with other goodies? I think the Nigerian Ombudsman/Consumer Protection Agencies should start looking into these scams. |

Thanks for this useful post. You've saved me a lot of time I would have used searching on Aliexpress. It will be JiaYu S3 Insha Allah. I will add it to my wishlist awaiting its launch in January. 1 Like |

The 500MB free data on activation and the 100% instant bonus on all purchases of 200MB data and above for 12 months is a big scam. I text DATA to 8186 in order to activate several times and I kept getting the message “the device imei 3536xxxxxx3928 is invalid.” At times it gave me false hope by returning the message “You have a pending request, please wait for confirmation” but to no avail. I bought three pcs of Infinix hot during the Konga 12-12 shopping festival; till date none of them had been activated. I emailed Etisalat customer care and they told me to supply them with the following details for each of the phones: Etisalat Mobile Number, Device IMEI, Device Type, Device Offer, Error Messages, Channel of Purchase and attach a scanned copy of the receipt. I did all that accurately and they informed me that they are carrying out an investigation and that they would reply me within 24 hours. No response till date. That was how MTN, Innjoo and Jumia deceived Nigerians that they would provide free data for some Innjoo phones bought at Jumia. I bought two pcs of Innjoo i1s back then, did all the necessary texting and emailing to no avail. Why do these reputable establishments and service providers have to use deceptive tactics in order to sell their products? They should realize Nigerians would still patronize their products even if they don’t scoop so low. In more civilized societies they would be held to account. |
