THIS MAN HAS AN UNENVIABLE RECORD OF SPENDING AKWA IBOM'S MONEY LIKE HIS PERSONAL MONEY.BELOW

As SaharaReporters found out, Mrs. Waziri is currently living by the creed she disclosed at that Lagos retreat. We have documented a series of corrupt activities engaged in by Mrs. Waziri, in concert with her fellow Benue-born brother-in-crime, federal Attorney General Michael Aondoakaa, to collect bribes from—among others—the governors of Cross River, Akwa Ibom and Rivers States. Up till today, Mrs. Waziri has not tried to debunk any of those reports.

In an update, our investigators in Abuja have found that Mrs. Waziri is in receipt of another "big gift" from the Governor of Akwa Ibom, Godswill Obot Akpabio. Courtesy of the thieving governor of Akwa Ibom, Mrs. Waziri is now the proud owner of a Mercedes Benz GL 450 Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV).

The four journalists released by kidnappers in Aba yesterday are now the subject of deep controversy following their disclosure that their abductors robbed them of N3 million ($25,000). In their testimonies to their colleagues shortly after they arrived in Lagos yesterday, the group, led by Wahab Oba, the head of the Nigeria Union of Journalists in Lagos state and a staff of the federal ministry of information and communication, Adolphus Okonkwo of the Voice of Nigeria, Sylvester Okere of the Champion Newspapers, and Sola Oyeyipo, another Lagos-based freelance journalist, said the kidnappers took away the money from them as soon as they were carjacked and driven into the bush. In an account captured by the Lagos based Punch newspaper, Oba said, “When we went for the NEC meeting, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Obong Godswill Akpabio, gave us N1m as fulfilment of his promise to bankroll a national seminar which we had in the state three months ago.

“He also gave each NEC official N100, 000 as transport fare. I also had some money on me because I had been travelling recently. Other people had some money on them too.

“The kidnappers collected all the money. If you value what they collected from us in terms of cash and other things, it is almost N5m. We had about N2.6m cash and the car which we bought not long ago valued at N2.4m was also stolen.”?

These explanations constitute the first time that professional journalists are admitting in public to have collected bribes, in this case called “seminar bankroll” or “transport fare.” It is leading to a public gasp about the way journalists do their official business, and the legality of carrying such huge funds around in contravention of the Nigerian money laundering law. The men spent eight days in the den of the armed men in deep forests in the Southeast.??

Saharareporters had reported that the journalists, in addition to participating in a National Executive Council meeting in Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom State two weeks ago, also visited Governor Godswill Akpabio and gave him a special award tagged 'Responsive Governance Award'. It is unclear what Governor Akpabio, a notably corrupt governor, may have accomplished to win the “award,” or even whether the award was officially recognized by the NUJ bylaws. ?

Five die in scramble for governor’s largesse
By Iniabasi Umo

Five students were killed and several others reportedly injured during a riot by students who wanted a share of the ₦15 million distributed by the Akwa Ibom State governor Godswill Akpabio. The tragedy occurred yesterday at the Government House Uyo and the Ibom Hall where undergraduate students and unemployed graduates gathered at the instance of the state governor.

The inability of some unemployed graduates, students of the University of Uyo, Uyo City Polytechnic and Akwa Ibom State College of Education to get a share of the money led to a stampede.

Mr. Akpabio had announced a ₦10 million largesse for undergraduate students who were supposed to get their money at the Government House. His running mate in the gubernatorial election, Nsima Ekere, was billed to distribute the rest ₦5 million to unemployed graduates who converged at the Ibom Hall.

Trouble started with the rumour that organisers of the event have taken away ₦4 million out of the ₦10 million given to the students. After waiting for more than four hours for the remaining ₦6 million to be shared, the students started a protest.

The protest turned into a stampede as security agencies tried to remove them from the premises. In the ensuing scramble, gunshots were fired by the police and the protesting students responded by hurling stones at the police officers.

At Ibom Hall, a few fortunate unemployed graduates got ₦1,000 each but the rest had to run away when they heard the gunshots. Matters worsened when the protesting students were joined by others in the adjourning streets of Oron and Wellington Bassey road leading to sporadic shooting which extended into the night.

During a telephone interview, Essien Udoma, the Student Union President of the University of Uyo, confirmed that they were invited by the state governor to collect ₦10 million but people under the aegis of Concerned Students for Gosdwill Akpabio, the organisers, made away with ₦4 million.

He said seven students comprising three each from the Akwa Ibom State College of Education and Uyo City Polytechnic, and one from the University of Uyo have been hospitalised in an undisclosed hospital. He refused to say how many were killed in the riots.

In what amounts to a reaction, the state government has banned all groups from gathering at the Government House for any reason. The commissioner for Information and Social Re-orientation, Aniekan Umanah, said any such rally should be taken to the PDP secretariat.

I beg to disagree, the old order is the indolence of the Nigerian electorates(and just like in the middle east). The conspiracy of silence by the governed to rather than ask question would keep quiet. The lack of will by the marginised majority to build, nurture and sustain a credible platform to respond to the cheating acts of the leaders.Imagine how long it took a simple freedom of information bill to be passed in Nigeria! It took the sustained campaign by a few members of the society to insist for the following
1.Electoral review.
2.Opening of the political space which compelled INEC allow more political party registration.
3.Bank reforms and transparency in the capital markets.
4.Inclusive citizen participation in budgeting.
5.Judicial challenge to obnoxious colonial laws like Public order Act,
6.Revival of the coroners inquest in questionable deaths etc.
7.Deregulation/privatisation in important sectors of the telecommnunications, power, tertiary education etc.
8 Sustained call for state police and review of appointments that are exclusive preserve of some of the chief beneficiary of the old-order.
9.Sustained war against corruption and social injustice
And the list goes on,
Labelling the order as one zone against the other is an escapist approach. The Nigerian elite come a long way, they dont know zones or language barriers. The common language is FILTHY LUCRE stolen from our common patrimony!the few concession so far achieved come from more awareness  and creating more awareness would acheive even more returns. The courage of the judge that sent a Bode george to prison and a priest who rebuked him openly,a vociferous public outrage against aondoakaa, ibb, ibori, cecilia ibru, etc paid  off after all.The poor guys that stood against ballot snatching during the last election and the political leaders like Tinubu who insisted to use the instrumentality of the law to achieve their political objective represent the new order.
My friends,we are the new order! The innocous facebook network brought down almighty govts in egypt and Tunisia.Forced arab dictators to yield more grounds to the led and initiate political reforms otherwise thought impossible and we are here talking celestial political calculus that had been bandied for years to keep us in perpetual fear. The ultimate winner is the Nigerian on the street not the proclivities of a few to invent propaganda voting blogs, demonise tinubu or prepare us psychologically for a pre-determined outcome.Right now.their cookies are crumbling!

Mr Beaf again! You are just too much!I am sure your physical look will never betray your controversy-prone vitriol!(something tells me you are 1 fine handsome green snake-under-a-green grass-dude(lol).You are the most consistent enfant terrible of nairaland and with a little tone to your response, you will win more people to your misunderstood activism.I hail oh!
Now at least I know you are from the ND,we both love ND,it is only an enemy of ND that can wish a GADAFI to be a NIGER-DELTAN,Gadaffi that called his people cockroaches and rats!Imagine going to seek a bride anywhere and your name is GADAFFI or you are from Libya, they will use insecticide on the person!
As an intelligent strategist, would you ever want to lead a place like Niger-delta to war?Well,I wont. The best that can be done is guerilla tactics, come to the mainland, sabotage and flee to the creeks! Now in mass military campaign, would you ship the whole people with babies, pregnant women and the aged to the creeks. The collosal logistics and the human capital it will require would make it less attractive, particularly when the gej story is a glorious story of the ND that would be told kids yet unborn and not kids in the CREEKS.
On Tinubu, the last time I checked,he is older that i am,In yorubaland, you dont call someone older than you by his name, let alone tell him to SHARRAP.So pardon me as I wont be doing that.Tinubu gave gej what he asked for.methinks, gej wasnt fair to tinubu and the yoruba leaders,Tinubu is clearly too intelligent to want to sacrifice the love he has for the ND for gej.Remeber,he was the only governor that never abandoned the fight against resource control. He sustained the sympathy of the lagos press for the struggle for resource control and even rallied southern governers to have a platform like the northern governors.Tinubu knew most ND didnt approve of that ill-fated remark by gej.At least Cheif Clark didnt complain,IYC didnt,MEND didnt.so what is the basis of your accusation of tinubu as insulting ND.Pls,remember GOD,dont sow to the wind.
Now,on your pet project gej-sambo 2011,I would rather you change strategy.Truthfully, your passion for gej almost had me convinced but ,just like most NLders, you are embarrassing the president(apology to ima Niboro who told Aba-aji to shut up and stop embarrassing gej). You show little restraint at any opposing view and rather than get more sympathy for gej, sadly, you are not helping. If political power would go back to SS,dont you think you need people's votes and their affection.

@ EzeUche, you must not give up.Darkness can only rule over light for a shortwhile said Peter Tosh. You must give your resentment of this ignomy as much publicity as much as people. The people must have insisted that he addresses them!Failure to insist on their right to be informed by those entrusted with their political mandate/destiny is cowardice or lukewarmness.Imagine, fashola saying he would not address us yesterday!he would have lost almost his votes and kissed bye-bye to Alausa! The igbos are not cowards! They are not,for Godsake, political neophytes.Somebody must do more to energise people into activity that would build quality control into the process that produce their political leadership! If this man goes away with this attitude,no one should blame him or tinubu again
PoliticsRe: Wahala Dey Oh! Buhari Leads On All Polls by volasunkan: 1:25am On Mar 04, 2011
This may not actually result into electoral success for BB.The most important thing is that great credit must be given to those people like Tinubu who stood firm to oppose pdp even when it was the fad to 'move under the umbrella'.Now,everyone is realising that pdp can be defeated!I am sure even if pdp wins this election eventually, their arrogance would likely abate. The common man stands to benefit once  he is aware that his vote is a strong tool to effect change in political leadership. And if gej eventually, loses(he wont be the first in Africa anyway),his legacy of free and fair poll will tower far above the acheivement of every Head of State we ever had as a country.Pls let us stop this senationalism, heaven will not fall if Jonathan loses, and his loss does not mean the niger-delta loss,if he loses,he would ve lost because of his personal political faults and the liability of pdp widely acclaimed notoriety! Now can Niger-delta 'kill Nigeria",It is less likely, the geography is sparcely populated, low agricultural activity and perplexing heterogenity would slow down mobilisation for secession. The itsekiri and some other smaller minorities may be reluctant to go where the majority would likely be the Ijaw!
So far,the battleground has been niger-delta.Making your community a battleground is a terrible military error. The Yoruba consider it a taboo! Now,quite frankly,it is only an eglitarian society that can guarantee equal rights to ascension to political leadership not by threat which breeds resentment and acrimony.I will insist that,as far as I am concerned,Nigeria will be great again.I am feeling my country, pdp has woken us up at last!

The political debate organised by the Justice, Development and Peace Commission (JDPC) of the Catholic Diocese of Umuahia for governorship candidates in Abia State, was yesterday, temporarily halted by the Abia State Governor, Dr. Theodore Orji, who walked out of the forum.

The state governor walked out on the priests, governorship aspirants, party members from various political parties as well as journalists, after protesting that he thought the debate was a forum where he would talk to voters in the state, “not knowing that the hall was filled with members of Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA).”

The governor, who came when about four other candidates were already seated was consistently booed by the capacity crowd when his name was mentioned during the introduction of participants at the event. This development made him very uncomfortable to which he looked at every corner of the venue and did not see the kind of people he was expecting to see.

As a result of the booing, the Chairman on the occasion, Prof. Emmanuel Meje stood and rebuked the crowd, insisting that all participants must be respected irrespective of party affiliations. It was at this point that the governor gave signs calling for the microphone, which was handed over to him. People thought he was going to kick-start the event as the chief executive of the state but instead he said he wanted to make an observation and spoke thus: “When I got the invitation, I was told that I will be coming to talk to voters in the state.

I have now noticed that this hall is filled with members of the Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA) and I should not be seen talking to them,” he thundered and walked out of the hall amidst jeering and shouts of “go, we don’t want you” from the crowd.

Baffled by the action of the governor, even when he was persuaded to stay, Meje and others told the audience that the debate must go on. The event, which was organised in collaboration with the Kolping Society of Nigeria was attended by Chief Chris Akomas, PPA; Chief Stanley Ohajuruka, Labour Party (LP); Chief Paul Ikonne, Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and Mr. Obioma Onyeaghala, Community Party of Nigeria (CPN).

Others were Chief Ako Atuloma, Congress for Democratic Change (CPC) and Mr. Emenike Owanta, Democratic Front for Peoples Federation (DFPF). Ohajuruka, who spoke after the debate said the booing of the governor was embarrassing. “I was disappointed with what happened because we needed to accord him some decorum as governor. I tried to persuade him to stay but his mind was made up to leave because nobody could have known the next thing that would happen if he had stayed, ” Ohajuruka said.

Yesterday’s incident was the second time in eight days he was booed at a public outing. The last one happened in Aba on February 24 at Enyimba Stadium during the flag-off of President Goodluck Jonathan’s campaign. The governor had hardly taken the microphone when the people began shouting him down, among other unprintable things said to him. The governor appears no longer comfortable in any forum where he encounters members of his former political party, PPA.

In a recent briefing of his campaign team at the Executive Chambers of the Government House, Governor Orji had expressed worry about the activities of the opposition parties, which he said seemed to have taken over the state, especially at the grassroots.

While re-inaugurating his campaign team for the 2011 general elections he had told them it would “be a shame that we have people like you while the opposition still exists. The opposition has been doing what they like in the state, forcing themselves on the people while we are doing nothing about it.”

Now I see you have multiple issues with Tinubu. Is he a criminal? In your own world,he is.But frankly, this is not your world.Becareful what you do to your consciense? It's sheared with so much hatred for your fellowman.Kai,I will rather die than have this amount of hatred for a person! You are fighting for yourself, igbo and the 'fishermen'?You must be the messiah we await!(lol).Tinubu is a strong pillar of democrazy in Nigeria. He fought teeth and nail to make sure Nigeria does not become a one party nation. He,through, his consistent political beliefs, revived the opposition, now everyone is suddenly realising that pdp can be defeated. The people stands to benefit with such robust political development and i beg you to sheathe your swords. While we get sucked up in this PHD tendencies,we are missing a golden chance to rub minds and stimulate constructive debate that can benefit the igbo and fishermen(afterall fishing is a legitimate profession and there is dignity in labour).Orji Uzo kalu had the chance when ppa had 2 states while tinubu's party had 1 state but right now,ppa is dead, orji uzo kalu is fighting serious corruption case, yet Tinubu is waxing stronger. His party has grown from 1 to 3 and still more likely. He surrounds himself with highly intelligent people,he invests in people with the best ideas irrespective of where you come from.Imagine,Ben Akabueze,an igboman who was discovered by tinubu is still in the saddle in Lagos as the commissioner of economic planning and budget, even years after tinubu left office!Tinubu will overcome.

I am fully aware that if you are invited by code of conduct,it is largely to establish ur culpability or innocence which the body is staturily empowered to do.I subscribe fully that this body be given freehand to discharge its duty,if Tinubu,I repeat,if Tinubu,is proven guilty, let him face the music!
What still baffles me is that,
WHY DID IT TAKE THEM 12 YEARS TO REPORT HIM TO CCB?
WHY IS IT DURING THE THICK OF ELECTIONS THAT THIS CCB KITE IS BEING FLOWN?
WHY IS IT TAKEN AND ORCHESTRATED BY PDP AND ITS AGENTS WHEN EVEN THE CCB IS YET TO EVEN SERVE TINUBU A SUMMON?
WHY IS IT THAT,EVEN ON NAIRALAND,IT IS THE SAME SET OF PEOPLE REPORTING UNSUBSTANTIATED ALLEGATIONS AGAINST TINUBU?

The electioneering campaign of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) took a new dimension in Lagos State, yesterday as the two parties held counter rallies in the nation’s commercial capital. While President Goodluck Jonathan led PDP members to Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos to flag off his presidential campaign, the ACN held its rally in four strategic locations in Lagos.

The ACN rally was held almost simultaneously on Volks Ground along Lagos Badagry Expressway, Agege, Gbagada and Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere. The state Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN), who is seeking re-election on the platform of the ACN, addressed party supporters at the locations.

Fashola kicked off the rally at Agege before he moved to Gbagada, Surulere and Ojo. He thrilled ACN supporters at Volks Ground in Ojo Local Government Area when he flew into the venue in a helicopter at about 3:15p.m. Local government chairmen, scores of the ACN candidates, party loyalists, market women, youth associations and top government officials who attended the events hailed the governor.
Some ACN chieftains explained that the governor had to use helicopter so that he would be able to touch all the four locations because of traffic congestion in many parts of the state yesterday.

In his address, the governor urged members of the party to use their brooms symbolically to sweep away the footprints of members of the PDP who also held a rally at another location in Lagos.
His words; “You know the most important reason why we cannot trust PDP again. This country is going to make a lot of money in the next few months. You know why? There is crisis in the Middle East - there is crisis in Libya, which is an oil producing state. There is a problem rearing its head in Saudi Arabia. If that problem continues, the price of oil will soar as high as $200 per barrel.

“Now, we have done a budget in this country at $65 per barrel. Oil is already selling above $100 per barrel. It means we are already making excess money of at least $40 million per day. We are selling about two million barrels multiply by $40 per day. Now, if you leave them with that money, they are going to squander it again. For 12 years, they sold $500 billion worth of crude oil. Where is the money?”
Fashola thanked the Lagosians for trooping out in large numbers to participate in the just-concluded voters’ registration exercise, urging them to deliver their over six million votes for the ACN in this year’s general elections.
He declared that he has “no personal grudge against anybody in the opposition party, but I have every dislike, every disagreement with the way they have mismanaged my life and your own life.

“I do not accept that it is impossible for this country to have electricity, I do not accept that. The people who are producing electricity in their countries, they studied the same physics, the same chemistry, and the same mathematics that we studied. They have the same blood flowing in their veins.
“If you have led a country for 12 years, you are promising us more power, but what we are getting is less power. You are promising us bigger economy, but what we are getting is a shrinking economy. You are promising us that you want to resuscitate automobile industry, somebody trying to do that wants to be importing automobile.

“Our party is a party of ideas. I have asked them if they have superior ideas, let them bring it to the market place, let us exchange the ideas. The people of Nigeria are no longer concerned about whether you zone or you do not zone. Your zone will not bring electricity, that is not what the people are concerned about. Your zone will not make the price of kerosene cheaper and that is what is giving them pain. Your zone will not give them better job, that is what is giving me concern.”
Fashola asserted that it was disheartening that importers and exporters could not clear their goods within 24 hours at the port and the port doesn’t work at night, saying ACN was set to bring a turn-around transformation if residents of Lagos could use their six million votes, people of south west could use their 15 million votes and Nigerians at large could vote massively for the party.

He made reference to some of completed roads and those that are under construction in different parts of the former federal capital of the country as well as Iju/Adiyan Water Works as a tip of the ice berg on the dividends of democracy that the ACN-led government would deliver to Nigerians.

It beats my imagination when I see educated people who should be the repository of modern knowledge display crass ineptitude and intellectual atrophy. What hope do we offer the uneducated man who looks up to us to provide answers to the problems of this civilisation!A group of spoilers sat down and agreed that the best way to bring down Bola Ahmed Tinubu(arguably but unabashedly my political mentor) is to demonise him with so many unsubstantiated atrocious allegation in the hope that the undiscerning would fall for it!They will fail,I have come to the conclusion that
1.These people HATE TINUBU and his political beliefs.
2.These people can not match Tinubu intellectually.
3.These people always fight Tinubu by proxy.
4.These people spend heavily to neutralise him.
5.These people are the political heavyweights.
6.These people will never give up.
7.These people have consistently tried to penetrate his political rank.
8.These people set traps for tinubu all the time.
9.These people wish they have the leadership qualities Tinubu have
10.These people are mostly in the ruling party(PDP)!

YET THESE PEOPLE NEVER SUCCEED.DEFINITELY,WITH THE AMOUNT OF HATRED THEY HAVE FOR TINUBU,IF THEY HAVE A SHRED OF INCONTROVERTIBLE EVIDENCE AGAINST HIM,HE WOULD HAVE BEEN IN JAIL!
I PRAY GOD WILL BLESS,PROTECT AND PROMOTE HIM AND HIS FAMILY IN JESUS NAME(AMEN).ALL HIS ENEMIES SHALL LIVE TO WITNESS THE LORD'S MANIFOLD BLESSINGS ON HIS LIFE AND EVERYONE OF THEM,WHETHER ONLINE OR OFFLINE,GOD WILL REWARD THEM ACCORDING TO THE WORKS OF THEIR HANDS,AS THEY SET FORTH TO DESTROY ANOTHER MAN SO SHALL THEIR NAME BE DESTROYED AS WELL UNLESS THEY CHANGE.
We must stand up and resist these spoilers by demanding for the proof of any allegation they raise against this man Tinubu. We must continue to use our good conscience to question and scrutinise their motif until they provide us with valid proof of all these spurious allegations.GOD BLESS MY COUNTRY NIGERIA!

if you are refering to the president GEJ,then you are not quoting a very reliable authority,he has been represented in the category of people I imagined(they are powerfully PDP).@ kobojunkie,i was around wen tinubu contested for the senate in the early 1990s while president gej was in uniport zoo dept as a junior lecturer.I voted for him and he won,he was not a rascal then and even now!Rascality does not mean you are in an opposing party, Now while I never said he is a SAINT(apology to the Americanswho during the Lewinsky scandal, said when they voted for Bill Clinton as american president, they were not looking for a saint) but If you have the proof, let us have it!Someone just mailed a naked lie that Tinubu owns oriental hotel even when he does not have the proof(can you imagine that). For God sake, let's be fair, how would you have reacted if you are the one,my conscience wont allow me to keep quiet and allow people bring down a fellow man.

it is only the undiscerning that can the deceived by these latest developments.Yesterday, they flew a kite that the Arewa Consultative Forum(ACF) chairman has been removed(which has since been refuted by the real ACF guys, read today's Sun newspaper for the fact) and now it is an old disgraced and politically worthless Senator Akinfenwa who had been quietly licking his wound since he was discovered to be a PDP mole in AD some years ago who is now been recruited to fly their propaganda kite!It is only those not current in political events in nigeria that will swallow the deceit of these schenanigans in aso rock. The real chairman of AD is Michael Koleosho and he was fully involved in the botched ACN/AD-CPC alliance talk. in case you dont know,in the south-west,we know our leaders! We know Jonathan will not be voted for by the yorubas!no amount of jobs for a million akinfenwas will change anything. As for SS,jonathan misyarn wont change the age long cultural and traditional ties between yoruba and some of their distant cousins in the south-south.And God forbid,if Nigeria breaks, some of the south-south would rather go with the yorubas than any of the other regions! It is so nauseating when our leaders become so infantile in their approach to political issues.shiorr
