^^^i actually meant the man would ve made me suffer a terminal depression if he is my state governor!I agree totally that the democratic system needs to be transparent and credible. What I need us do is to keep exposing these malfeasance going on.We kept the ibori issue alive until the man jumped from frying pan to fire.Imagine having our own Hall of Shame, exposing their children, families etc feeding fat from the system.post their pictures, phone numbers, addresses in nigeria and abroad.let us keep protesting |
the best solution the man has to the Aba bank robberies and rampant embarrassing cases of kidnapping is to jump from one party to another shopping for a party platform to contest for 2nd term! TUFIAKPA(spitting kelebe with so much angst) South easterners on nairaland must mobilize people to the plight of leadership failure in the SE and move concretely against these scallywags who had their palm kernels broken by a bad chi.I cant imagine the guy was once a faithful christian brother! I THANK GOD THE MAN IS NOT MY STATE GOVERNOR. |
Why I quit PPA –Gov. Orji From CHUKS ONUOHA, Umuahia Wednesday, June 30, 2010 Goveror Theodore Orji Photo: Sun News Publishing More Stories on This Section Goveror Theodore Orji of Abia State has resigned his membership of the Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA) with the intention to join another political party which he will soon make public. In a Government special announcement signed by the Chief Press Secretary, Mr Kingsley Emeruwa, and read on Broadcasting Corporation Of Abia State (BCA), the governor in a formal notice entitled: “Withdrawal of Membership”, dated June 28, 2010, and addressed to his former Ward Chairman in Urban Ward 1, Umuahia North LGA, and copied to the National Chairman, Orji disclosed that his decision to quit PPA was irrevocable. According to him, it is in response to the yearning of a vast majority of Abians over whom he superintends as governor, and who no longer consider their interest protected within the confines of the party. He said that the governor had of late been inundated by calls and appeals from thousands of his supporters, urging him to quit the PPA that has been bedeviled with crisis. This , Emeruwa said, would give him time to continue delivering the promises of his campaign as well as chart a peaceful political course for the people. A source from the Government House said in the next few days that the governor will make public his new political party which he will stand to contest for his second term bid. Our source said further that the Chief of Staff to the governor, Mascot Uzor Kalu, had written his letter of resignation to the governor, to intimate him about his intention to leave his government for personal reasons. It was gathered that Mascot, who is the younger brother to the former governor Orji Uzor Kalu , had concluded plans to return to America from where he came to pick the job of the chief aide to the governor in 2007. Addressing journalists in Umuahia, the Special Adviser to the governor on Electronic Media, Ugochukwu Emezue, said that the PPA national office erred when it asked the governor to pay all arrears of workers salaries and mend fences with the party’s Board of Trustees (BOT) Chairman, Orji Uzor Kalu. Emezue said: “The PPA called the governor for a meeting in Abuja, but the governor told them that he was indisposed and will answer them when his health improves. But the governor in his wisdom wrote to them, answering all the issues they raised”. He said that since they have taken their decision without taking the governor’s written submission into consideration, “the governor is now asking them to release his response to the National Working Committee of the party to the public without delay.” The governor’s aide noted that his boss had repaired most of the roads in Aba, contrary to what the PPA are saying, while security net work in the commercial city had also improved with compliments from the Federal Government. |
^^^ though i disagree with you,i will rather have your choice of a coach.Mine is keshi,ow about you. |
I was wondering what lessons we can learn from our dismal outing in SA.I found out that much still has to do with our docility and failure to act until its too late.Going by the body language of NFF,its almost a settled case that Lars Lagerback would be 'rewarded' with an extended contract!Paying millions in dollar of our money to a man we never supported his recruitment or benefitted from his service! We ve also heard of the alleged underhand dealing in the contract signed with the swede(this is calling on effcc to investigate the whole SA 2010 WORLDCUP DISASTER),meaning that most guys in NFF can not be relied to take patriotic uncompromised decision when it comes to recruiting coach. Guys lets push for a replacement to Lars Lagerback and vote for a coach for the national team of Super Eagles. My choice 1.STEPHEN KESHI assisted by Samson Siasia |

I read this in www.punchng.com and was shocked I wish to express my displeasure with the above mentioned (Honda Civic) car (chassis number: JHMFD16718S405940), which I purchased from the Honda Place at their Akin Adesola office in Victoria Island, Lagos on 03/03/2009. My enjoyment of the use of the car has been severely limited by the series of problems it has presented since I purchased it. I visited their various service centres several times without a lasting solution. (Please see attached an acknowledgement copy of a formal complaint made in April 2010). In summary, I have encountered the following problems from the date of purchase: 1. Water leakage to the floor of the car (I strongly believe this is manufacturing defect and the car smells 24/7; 2. Window-related problems, which Honda officials confirmed is a manufacturing defect (this poses security issue); 3. Fuel gauge malfunctioning 4; Poor air-conditioning; 5. Vibration of entire car. The Apapa workshop manager called me by end of April after receiving my letter (please see attached), asking me to bring the car down to their Apapa workshop, which I did on 12/05/2010. I spent a full day with them hoping that the problems would be fixed. This did not happen. On the same day I lodged a complaint of a noise from the front wheel (passenger side): The mechanic said it was brake pad, I said NO, then came back to tell me it was stabiliser linkage, I asked him, to reconfirm and assure me he knew what he was doing – He did, I was made to pay N44,000 for the linkage and brake-pad. Immediately I left the premises, the noise level became worse than it was before I took it there. I returned to the workshop the following day, he then opened the bonnet and screwed two knots together, the question is why was I made to pay N44,000? Therefore, I will appreciate to have a replacement car at the earliest. Please note that I am unable to invest further time to support the Honda team in the repair process. Thank you. My first line of commendation goes to Mariam for her assertiveness. She bought the car new from a reputable distributor (dear readers, even when buying a used-car, make sure you buy from a reputable dealer); so, she has a legitimate expectation of reasonable comfort that should not be abused. Unlike most Nigerians, she‘s persisted in asking for redress. When she contacted us, and I eventually examined the car, it was just too easy for us to get in touch, on her behalf, with Honda, to state her case for redress. My second line of praise - some of you may want to disagree with this because of Mariam‘s prior travails in their hands – goes to Honda (Nigeria). As soon as we called them, their senior expatriate managers, unlike some irresponsive corporate fat cats, kept calling me incessantly to let me know that the situation would be remedied. Do you want to know how it ended? OK, I promise to keep you posted. Lastly, a heart-felt point on this issue, many senior managers in all the major automobile distributorships in Nigeria may not know that, in some cases, their lower management and the supervisory rank staffers cover up for some of the exuberant drug-heads among the drivers (who drive in the vehicles from the ports to their yards). In rule-of-law-respecting jurisdictions like the US and EU-zone, when new vehicles are involved in accidents, before they are sold, the buyers (under a strict disclosure rules) are told about the accidents and the repairs effected (notwithstanding that the vehicles would have been perfectly repaired, with no ostensible sign of accidented-damage). And ”knock-off discounts” rights are duly obliged the buyers. Here, from my reliable sources in the trade, the vehicles are patched-up and sold as new, with no disclosure and no discounts, to the buyers. Haba! |
Prof. Attahiru Jega’s Appointment As INEC Boss: Another Prof. Maurice Iwu Has Emerged PDF | Print | E-mail Wednesday, 09 June 2010 04:30 We at Intersociety are finally vindicated over recent fears expressed by our Organization that every indication pointed to the fact that President Goodluck Jonathan is searching for an amenable person, a willing tool for that matter, as the new INEC boss. The announcement and confirmation of Prof. Attahiru Jega, a well-known consultant to Prof. Iwu’s INEC, and his close ally, did not come to us as a surprise. When Prof. Jega was ASUU President, Prof. Iwu was his deputy, and when Prof. Iwu became INEC boss, he reportedly made Jega an INEC consultant, which he reportedly remained till date. This latest Presidential blunder has put paid to the perceived shallow promises and assurances, emanating from the President to the effect that the 2011 elections would be credible, and that the new INEC boss would be a highly revered person, who would be widely acceptable to Nigerians, only for the same President to settle for an alleged accomplice in the Iwu’s electoral crimes of unpardonable proportion. During Iwu’s chairmanship of INEC, in which the new INEC boss served as a consultant, Nigerians experienced the worst electoral administration since 1960. Where then lies the promises and assurances by the President at local and international fora regarding credible elections in 2011? The raw truth is that Nigeria and Nigerians as well as the international community should not fold their hands, waiting for the President and his team to deliver, because, from every indication, they have nothing to offer, with respect to credible elections. As a matter of fact, another chief election rigger has just been recruited. Everything around Prof. Jega does not portray him as the Nigeria’s next messianic electoral umpire. Also, his preference of INEC job instead of his current BUK vice-chancellorship is suspect, and it is a total indication of his perceived utter zeal for juicy gains, from dirty job to be well-done. If no hidden agenda is so attached, Prof. Attahiru Jega would not have forgone his BUK vice-chancellorship for INEC chairmanship. Let it also be firmly noted that Prof. Jega is not the nominee of the mainstream Nigerian Civil Society or Human Rights Community, so that in the event of his much expected failures, we shall not be held liable. Except Nigerians and their international friends rise up and force the Presidency and its new amenable INEC leadership to midwife free and fair elections, otherwise, the 2011 elections will be seconded only to the 2007 armada of electoral fraud, if not worse than that. With this discredited appointment of INEC boss, President Jonathan has missed a golden opportunity to prove the electoral reformers wrong to the effect that his appointing powers over INEC helmsman cannot be perpetually abused, by appointing a stooge or a surrogate to that very important position. ^^^ u dont get it,its not the fact that right now,he has not been found wanting, its the fact that the aspirations of most Nigerians to have a clean break from any Iwururu tendencies and/or relationship that has been dashed not for want of people who can perfectly fit our criteria of who should be the inec chair, but our leaders judging from their antecedents, want someone they have something on to use as a bargainning chip.for God's sake there is Gen Ishola williams who is NOT A CONSULTANT to inec! INEC under iwu was a man-made disaster, everything and everybody the man accepts/embraces is a pro-inec,this may include jega, iwu that did not even approve election monitors that are anti-inec DOES BUSINESS with jega?i still cant place the voice of jega among the many vociferous voices that condemn iwu administration, even yardua complained of IWU.Prof Lai Olurode seems to be the one i can vouch for! |

CODER rejects choice of Jega as INEC chair By Emmanuel OladesuPublished TodayNewsRating: Unrated CODER The Coalition of Democrats for Electoral Reforms (CODER), yesterday, rejected the appointment of the Vice Chancellor of Bayero University Kano (BUK), Prof Attahiru Jega, as Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The group described the appointment as "unfortunate", saying that it was a mockery of the campaign of the civil society for electoral reforms. The Coordinator of the group, Mr Ayo Opadokun, said that the appointment process dishonoured the fine recommendations of the Uwais panel on Electoral Reforms set up by the Yar’Adua Administration. He said that the frontline Political Scientist may have been attacked by the INEC virus as a consultant to the electoral umpire. Opadokun doubted if a free and fair election can be guaranteed by President Goodluck Jonathan, who appointed Jega as the INEC boss when he and his party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), are interested forces in the 2011 general elections. ‘We have always insisted that, using the current law to appoint a new electoral commission, is like rigging from the source because the sitting executive is partisan. The President and PDP are interested in the next election. Is it fair to ask one of the parties in the contest to appoint the electoral umpire? ‘When Attahiru Jega was the President of ASUU, Maurice Iwu was the deputy Chairman. When Iwu became the chairman, Jega became a consultant to INEC. How can such a man with such a past inspire confidence in Nigerians that he will conduct a free and fair election,? he queried. Former Chief Whip of the House of Representatives in the Third Republic, Hon Wale Oshun, said that it would have been better for the President to follow the process recommended by the Uwais Committee. The Action congress (AC) chieftain noted that it was the first time a Northerner would occupy the position. He lamented that Dr Jonathan was toeing the path of his predecessor, the late President Umaru Yar’Adua and PDP which had insisted that the President should retain the appointing authority. But he said that, since the university don has been appointed, the onus is on him to demonstrate credibility and handle the new assignment with courage and integrity. " It has smashed the myth that the chairman has always been appointed from the South. It is beautiful that he is from the North. His track record as a unionist in the academic stands him in good stead. He has fought for the good of the members of the academic. He should now fight for the good of Nigerians. He needs courage," Oshun added. |

I read the comment of Igbokwe,AC publicity Secretary,Lagos State chapter seriouly, using very strong words, condemning The Sun newspaper for promoting" the sword of Damocles" IBB 2010 PRESIDENCY PROJECT.Infact, according to him, unless the Sun desists,it may sound the death knell to the newspaper outfit.Little did i know that the Sun is not alone in this evil plan, while Orji Uso Kalu,PROPRIETOR OF THE SUN was promised IBB V.P, it suddenly dawned on me that TRIBUNE was doing same!Every day i visit the Tribune newspaper website, there is a publicity stunt for the EVIL GENIUS and dictator in a newspaper founded and owned by the GREAT SAGE(Obafemi Awolowo)!By now Papa Awo is turning in his grave and heaping curses on the generation of people behind this evil plan. Imagine IBB USING AWO's tribune to deny stealing the $12billion gulf war oil windfall!Read this for example: $12.4bn scam: Okigbo never indicted me - Babangida | Print | E-mail Written by Bola Badmus Former military president, General Ibrahim Babangida, on Thursday, clarified that contrary to belief in some quarters, the Dr. Pius Okigbo panel report never indicted him on the $12.4billion gulf oil windfall, just as he took a swipe at those accusing him of corruption, based on the alleged report. Following current moves being made by General Babangida to contest the 2011 presidential poll, a coalition of civil rights’ groups, including Social Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP), Access to Justice (AJ), Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC) and Nigeria Voters Assembly (VOTAS), was said to have written a petition to the new Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mohammed Bello Adoke, asking him to prosecute the former military president. The group, in its petition dated April 7, 2010, threatened to go to court to compel the justice minister to try the former military president. Babangida, in a press release issued and signed by his spokesman, Prince Kassim Afegbua and entitled: “Who is Afraid of General Ibrahim Babangida?, denied that he was ever indicted by the Okigbo panel saying what the report said was that much funds were concentrated on infrastructural development of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, which it considered was not a priority. Besides, Babangida said the report also called for the overhaul of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to enable it perform its functions optimally. “The report, while calling for the reforms of the Central Bank of Nigeria also recommended the dismissal and retirement of some key staff of the apex Bank”, General Babangida had said in the press release. Addressing the issue further, Babangida’s spokesman, Prince Afegbua, who is also acting national chairman, National Democratic Party (NDP) declared that the idea of $12.4billion oil windfall only existed in the imagination of those who were largely unfamiliar with the issues of the time, pointing out that there was nothing like multi-billion dollar windfall. MY VERDICT: Let us boycott these newspapers and i suspect gbenga daniel's hand in the whole cover up,it started after that his wasteful birthday bash where IBB was made the chairman of the occassion. What do you guys think? |

Jonathan adds Turai's name to ministerial list By Tolu Ogunlesi April 1, 2010 01:15AM print email Acting President Goodluck Jonathan took Nigerians by surprise Wednesday with his last-minute nomination of President Yar'Adua's wife, Turai, for a ministerial position. Mrs. Yar'Adua's subsequent confirmation by the Senate instantly took her into the history books, not only as the first ever Nigerian First Lady to simultaneously hold a cabinet-rank position, but also as the only Nigerian ever to be screened for a ministerial position in absentia. The inclusion of the First Lady's name in the list of nominees took the Senators by surprise, becoming known only after the final batch of nominees had been screened. Moments after Mr. Segun Aganga, the last of the candidates scheduled for Wednesday, took his bow before the Chambers, the Special Adviser to the President on National Assembly Matters, Mohammed Abba-Aji, was sighted making his way to the front of the chambers, where he spent minutes conferring with the Senate President. While the conversation was going on, Mr. Abba-Aji handed over some documents to the Senate President, who broke into a smile when he browsed through them. When the Senate President finally addressed the Chambers, it was to make the surprise announcement - that Acting President Jonathan had, in a bid to increase the quota of women represented in the incoming cabinet, submitted the name of the First Lady for screening. The Senate Chambers erupted in uproar, which took the Senate President several minutes to calm. The Senate President then asked Senators to make an exception for the First Lady and screen her in absentia, taking into consideration the fact that her convalescing husband required her presence at his bedside. There were a few voices of protest, but most of Senators agreed on a symbolic screening. The Senate President proceeded to announce Mrs. Yar'Adua, and then asked her to "bow and go in absentia." This was followed by loud cheering spearheaded by the female Senators present. With Mrs. Yar'Adua's confirmation, the number of women in the incoming cabinet has risen to six, and the total number of screened nominees to thirty-nine. The Yar'Adua family is also making history as the only family in recent times to have two nominees in a federal cabinet; as Mrs. Yar'Adua joins Murtala, her husband's nephew, who was screened on Tuesday. It is being speculated that Mrs. Yar'Adua will be assigned the proposed ‘Power Ministry', which insider sources in the Presidency say should not be confused with the Ministry of Power. Oh, it's April Fools Day! |
