15. Final Look! Best of the best…err Worst of the Worst!!!
You know, scratch everything that we said before. Seriously. Who cares? They’re your selfies anyway, aren’t they? Who are we to tell you what you should or shouldn’t do? There’s just one important message that we’d like to get across, something that we think all selfie-takers should know. It’s kind of like the golden rule of taking selfies: Try not to look like an asshole. Otherwise, you’ll end up looking like this person up above! |
15. Don’t Look Like An Bunghole
We’ve explored many of the most important selfie no-no’s, but here’s one we shouldn’t neglect. If you’re going to take selfies with your laptop, you should probably make sure that it’s planted firmly on your desk. You may not be able to get the high angle that you’re looking for, but there’s something very wrong about waving a $1,500 piece of a equipment in the air with one hand trying to capture that perfect look. |
14. The Medium is the Message
If there’s one time that people are tempted to take selfies, it’s when they find themselves stuck in traffic. What else are you going to do, anyway? Listen to the radio? That’s so last century. Here’s the thing… If you’re wearing reflective aviators, you may want to remember that they’re, well, reflective. We can see up above that despite her complaint, this woman is clearly not stuck in traffic at all. Pull her over! |
13. Watch Those Reflective Aviators
You might want to let this one simmer for a moment, as it might take a minute or two to figure out what’s wrong with the picture above. It’s just a guy taking a selfie while stirring a big delicious pot of chili right? That’s certainly the case. But, look closer. What kind of kitchen has a giant mirror in it? And… That doesn’t look like the kind of sink you’d find in a kitchen! That’s right, this man moved his stove into the bathroom. |
12. It Might Take a Minute…
Decorum, people! We know that you’re ready to pull at your phone at a moment’s notice to snap that awesome photo of yourself, but there’s a time and a place. Some people truly don’t get this, so much so that there’s an entire website devoted to people who take selfies at funerals. What you see up above is only one example out of hundreds of these kinds of selfies. Come on, people! |
11. There’s a Time and a Place
Just ask any big-shot Hollywood director, and they’ll tell you. When you’re trying to line up the perfect shot, you have to carefully consider what’s going to be in the frame and what’s going to be outside of the frame. Here, we see a woman who’s doing almost everything right. She’s got a good pose, she looks cute, and she’s got the mirror to take the selfie in. The problem is that she didn’t account for the bottom of the frame! |
Framing is Important
You’re distracted when you’re trying to take a selfie. You’re watching the screen intently, trying to make sure that you catch yourself at the perfect, most flattering angle. Because of this, you may not always be paying attention to your surroundings. When this happens, you might get caught taking your selfie by someone who happens to be walking by. The person that you see up above learned this lesson the hard way. |
9. Who Watches the Watchmen?
Sometimes when you’re trying to capture that perfect selfie, you may decide to outsource the selfie taking to someone else. You may, for example, ask a stranger passing you on the street to snap a picture of your and your special someone. When you’re at home though, your options can be limited. In this case, you might ask your child to take the selfie for you. That’s what you’re looking at up above. |
