Akalia:
The SE simply had a bad day, they weren't at their best. I can understand that. Big teams at times do struggle with perceived underdogs. By the way, there are underdogs in football today. Teams around the world are catching on and catching up quite fast.
Well in Africa the underdogs remain mostly underdogs look at Egypt Algeria and I'm sure Senegal and Cote D'Ivoire will do in their home games

Unfortunately these boys don't realise in African Qualifiers, home matches are bonuses, if you flunk them then you are in deep soup.

Again maybe the WC has lost its allure for the players. It took Nigeria 64 years to qualify for the WC, so there was mad hunger by everyone leading up to 1994 WC. The team played this game like a friendly match. By the way who was the captain of this team. Back in the days Keshi Oliseh Jay Jay would have rolled up sleeves and given Lesotho German-German. This team unfortunately played on without momentum or change in tempo from beginning till the end

I remeber watching the Nigeria Cote D Ivoire must win WC qualifier in Lagos in 93. The ground was so intimidating Michele Bassole missed 2 sitters against Wilfred Agbonibasket. It was unthinkable for the Eagles to win by a single goal. From 3 goals up was considered a good result
BreconHills:

You are right there . Excluding the 2000 AFCON where we were robbed blind, only two defeats in that stadium; Ghana pre 1974 WC and Tunisia 1-1 draw that saw us out of 1978 WC (??). Its been a fortress. SE players couldnt give lagos fans the run around and that crowd was intimidating for foreign teams as well. You come out of the underground changing rooms to a sea of noise. Teams would visibly wilt before the national anthems even took place.

That's the SE's natural home.

Back in the days, Westerhoof will use a homebased team for this match and reserve his all stars for the final stages, that's how we discovered players like Finidi and Isaac Semitoje etc
trytillmake:
Wetin dey tire me about this coach na to call up all foreign players must u use foreign players , can he not look inwards

This bad luc Uyo stadium. I miss the days when we played all our matches in Lagos. Lagos was the slaughter house of the dreaded Eagles!

Hilarious comments. But has anyone seen an official letter from Bracock mentioning what Mia's offence is and why she's been expelled. Because I see a broad line:violation or university rules and regulations. what sections were violated

How did we get here in the first place? Infact the military era was not as bad as this. Why has politics degenerated to a do or die affair,so much that even on this forum our youths that should know better would be tearing themselves apart because of useless politicians that don't care about their existence

A certain sunshade wearing dictator was setting off bombs every week in Lagos in 1997 and picking up people on the streets never to be seen again. Leave military. Their wickedness was on hell scale
