MAKING FILLABLE PDF USING ADOBE ACROBAT

1) CREATING OF FORM

You can create your form using your normal Microsoft word or adobe indesign (I use adobe indesign for my forms, I prefer that to word because of its flexibility, BUT IF YOU DON'T HAVE INDESIGN, MICROSOFT WORD IS FINE.)

you can always check forms online to have idea of how professional forms look like so as to enhance your design skills

After creating the form, either with word or indesign, just save it as PDF.

2) WORKING IN ACROBAT

Then open the PDF with acrobat. on the right hand side, you will see the menu bar where "Tools" is written, click on it to pop out sub menu contents (from this menu, the form can be made editable).

At the right hand side (RSH), you will see another submenu with the following writing

content editing
pages
interactive objects
Form
Action wizard
Text Recognition
Protection

I will explain each of those contents, Although I may not be sequential. I will explain based on order of preference gradually, but first I will give a little brief on each of them.

1) CONTENT EDITING

Basically, in this sub topic, you can actually edit any pdf document that is not secured. You can use it to write in a pdf document as well without any NOTICEABLE sign of amendments ( YOU DO THIS USING THE edit text & image button on the RHS). You can also add images, add links and even add a bookmark to table of content under this subtopic. we shall treat it fully, in the next class.

2) PAGES

In this Menu, we can actually add page numbers to a pdf, delete a page, merge two different pdf documents, add tab format to a some pages and son on.

Also, You can actuallyembed a Real time to a documents, that automatically updates itself each time the document is opened with the current date and time. All this can be done use the page menu.

4) 3) INTERACTIVE OBJECTS

If You have heard of interactive pdf form ( a pdf that responds to your clicks and perform an action) this is where it is done. here you can actually add a video, audio , objects to a pdf file that performs some operations.

4) FORM

Here you can actually create a form here from scratch if the form wasn't created in word or Indesign (Acrobat also gives room for that). That can be done using the Create button inside the Form menu. it also have an option to import your pdf if you have already created it. This is actually the HEART OF ADOBE ACROBAT. it is in this session that one create/make any form fillable. When I first started acrobat, this was the first session I learnt. so most likely if time permit, we will be starting from here and then move to other session gradually. If you have the licensed adobe version, you can actually distribute forms to people through this platform (Though not compulsory).

5) action wizard
Its basically for creating actions, it helps to import and share actions and command with others, we will not treat this because, I don't think we need it. We already have action button already and moreover you don't need to share your code with clients, not necessary. All they need is results, and if it works fine.

6) TEXT RECOGNITION

As the name implies, it actually used for recognizing scanned documents and convert then to editable text without altering the background. We use this when working on scanned documents.

7) PROTECTION

This is used for adding restriction to your forms. for instance, you can create a PDF that requires a password for anyone to have access to it. And Adding security measures to your form.

That's the brief of all what you can do withAdobe acrobat.

Try editing a content of pdf, using "CONTENT EDITING". (See brief explanation from #1 above)

LET ME DESCRIBE THEIR GIG WRITE UP, SO YOU CAN SEE THEIR INDIVIDUAL SELLING POINT!!!, THIS YOU MUST LOOK FOR WHEN CHECKING OUT SOMEONE'S GIG!!!!

ANALYSIS OF THE ABOVE GIG

1) The first seller emphasized on HUMAN, being better than software, that was her selling point. that's an awesome write up... superp!!! transcribing 10mins. When she started I am very sure it was not 10 mins, She had the reviews already, AND HAVE GAINED EXPERIENCE THROUGH THE CLIENTS WORK SHE WAS DOING and as a result her minutes is very small because I am very much sure, she was offering more thn 10 mins at her starting point.
"PLEASE DON'T FOLLOW HER ON THIS!!!" EXCEPT YOU HAVE THE EXPERIENCE ALREADY, AND EXCEPTIONALLY GOOD, WITH GOOD PORTFOLIO!! THEN YOU CAN USE 10 MINS AND PROOF TO CONVINCE YOUR BUYERS

2) The Second seller Emphasized on his accuracy and offered two in one service for same prize (TRANSCRIBING AND PROOF-READING)... That was his selling point. HER MINTS IS 20MINS, THAT'S FINE!!! SHE doubled the top sellers minutes, to get buyers, THAT'S A GOOD MARKETING STRATEGY. Some of the top sellers client might go to her, because they will pay less......

3) The third Seller Emphasized on Nature, trying to tell the buyer that his transcribing over the years has become a natural thing, see his profile pics made up of nature, indirectly describing himself, that is his SELLING POINT......... and also offered more minutes transcription than the TOP SELLER.. ANOTHER SELLING POINT!!!


NOTE: MOST OF THOSE THINGS THEY WROTE ARE JUST A WAY OF GETTING BUYERS, THEY MAY NOT BE THAT PERFECT OR EVEN BETTER THAN YOU. BUT THEY PACKAGED THEIR GIG IN AN AWESOME WAY IN ORDER TO ATTRACT BUYERS.... AS THE GET BUYERS AND KEEP WORKING ON CLIENTS' WORK, THEY GROW IN PERFECTION... THAT'S THE SECRETE!!!


CONCERNING GIG PACKAGE

This another avenue to make cool cash, when you have gotten at least more than 10 ratings on a gig. I advice you don't follow the way they described there gig package. The reason been that, they are in level 2 and top sellers already, so following their gig package may not work.

For instance, let's use the first seller's package to explain some things

HER BASIC GIG

Transcribe 10 minutes of good quality audio dictation by one speaker for $5

HER STANDARD

Transcribe 10 minutes of good quality audio dialogue with 2 speakers for $10

HER PREMIUM
Transcribe 10 minutes of good quality audio discussion with up to 4 speakers for $15

Those her packages are interesting because she is already an expert as far as Fiverr is concerned.

BUT YOU THAT IS STARTING CAN STRUCTURE YOUR PACKAGE IN ANOTHER FORM. It all depends on your creativity and marketing strategy.

ALTHOUGH,

The best to do at this stage is not to have Package, you can always deactivate your package.... the buyers can always contact you for negotiation...., The reason been that, no sales yet, the package limits you. You don't have up to 10 rating on the gig yet, so the buyer can only entrust little dollar with you. It is when you you win his heart that he can now say next time I am ordering $10, $20 ... and so on

BUT IF AT ALL YOU WANT TO HAVE A PACKAGE, THEN YOUR OFFER SHOULD BE MORE ENTICING THAN OTHER SELLERS' GIG ( Don't worry, you can always change it later)

FOR INSTANCE:
BASIC
Transcribe 20 mins (depends on the minute you are offering) for $5 with unlimited number of speaker.

ANALYSIS

So, if a buyer is a lecturer and lets say he had a discussion with his student that is almost 10 in the class and wants to transcribe it. Yea, the package we described is a top seller, but 20 mins is small for him to pay almost $15 (assuming the first buyer's package we analysed is offering same 20 mins with you, but with two speakers)

STANDARD
Transcribe for an interview section, 40 mins for $10,

Note: this is ok, because, its not a class forum, so they can't be more than 3 or 5. if more, you can always chat the buyer up for additional money if need be, but if he decline, you can always do the job...

PREMIUM

Do 1 hour transcribing for[b] $15[/b], you can always contact for this package before ordering


NOTE HERE: I didn't specify number of speakers, leave it that way . The reason being that, the price and hour can attract them to order your gig, but once they order and the speakers are more ( like class forum), you can always write the buyer politely to add to the order due to the number of speakers (SO YOU DON'T KILL YOURSELF FOR $15, BECAUSE THAT ONE IS VERY TEDIOUS ). But if it's two its fine.


You can always change the package anytime, as your orders increases

I wonder if Nigerian Muslims are strangers in their father's land. If anything happens to Muslims in this country, nothing happened but if it affects Nigerian Christians the whole Nation would be set ablaze. The Nigerian Christians should learn how to live and cohabit peacefully with their Muslim counterparts. Muslims are denied so many opportunities in our tertiary institutions yet we kept mute so that the peaceful atmoshphere would not be distorted. As long as I would not subscribed to denying the christians their rights which I considered injustice if that happens the same is equally applied to Muslims. God does not make mistake to put us under one roof.
