This is not unexpected. The body movement of Mimiko has been always wrigling to the admiration of the PDP. They really want to give APC a run for their money come 2015 in the South-West.This is becoming more interesting. What is Obaino of APGA waiting for? Yeye Politicians, jumping ship since 1925

Common, the US of A shouldn't praise us for doing the needful. They are becoming a monster these days with their overbearing influence in international politics to curative medicine. Yes we ain't there yet,but rubbing shoulders with these Oyinbo people intellectually is realisable only if right structures and enabling environment are put in place. We need to address leadership deficiencies.

There is more to this cross-carpeting than we could ever imagine. I suspect someone is acting a script. Common, these APC stalwarts wouldn't have allowed him to go like that. I think the ruling party shouldn't celebrate yet. 2015 is gonna be interesting. let's vote in the credible candidates
PoliticsRe: No Bomb Blast Since After APC Victory In Osun State - DSS Spokesperson by Walelavender(m):
Common! The Presidency is making a fool of our security agencies (DSS and Army). These are not the same agencies I used to know before. They are becoming more unprofessional as the day goes by. Imagine the CDS telling us he knew where the girls were (yet he couldn't bring them back ) Now its the DSS Spokesperson saying (indirectly) the opposition is in charge of planting bombs. Ain't they tired of heating up the polity? Common let's kick out purposeless leaders, come 2015

Imagine a Teenager of 15 years with a lot of investment on him, who can neither read nor write. How would you feel as a Parent? We are still celebrating the reconstruction of Lag~Iba ; Benin~Ore expressway when we should be covering our faces in shame. No refinery has been built for over 15 years, yet they are talking about turn~around maintenance. The road map of the power sector is just a joke because power supply is a mere illusuion, yet you are talking about PDP. Ain't you tired of 15 years of lacklustre performance by PDP. Any other reasonable party is welcomed in 2015,but not PDP again!

All our political office holders are no Saints. However this selective prosecution by EFCC won't do us any good. Corruption has been institutionalized in this country so much so that when your allegiance is to the ruling party,'immunity' covers you. The anti~graft agencies (EFCC & ICPC) are still not above board until they are truly independent

PoliticsI Will Be The First Female President Of Nigeria- Kemi Olunloyo by Walelavender(op): 2:10pm On Aug 06, 2014
Wonders shall never sieze. I was having a transaction in one of the commercial banks in Ibadan when someone stormed the banking hall with a group of photographers and camera men. She straightaway introduced herself as Kemi Olunloyo (daughter of the once upon a time Governor of Oyo State) and that today is her 50th birthday. You would ask; wetin concern me. She asked people to listen to her because she has been doing business with the bank since 1969 (45years ago) and she brought cake for the staffs. She started Banking by 5yrs old be that O. She said the former President Of the United States, Bill Clinton called her yesterday to felicitate with her; See me see wahala. She now threw the bombshell; ' I will be first female president of Nigeria and the campaign starts now,I won't be contesting the Governorship any longer'. She was just doing the notice-me, taking snap shots inside the banking hall. I was just wondering if she was ok. I couldn't help it than to continue to watch the free Nollywood show in the Banking hall, since it was raining heavily outside. This woman na wa O

anonimi: Why are you being so incoherent huh
If RibaduN is really someone "with astute and credible records" why will he be involved in "any move may not be astonishing"?
It is either he is astute & credible or he is NOT angry
The fact that someone is credible today does not say he would be a 'Saint' forever. Have you forgotten that CHANGE is the only constant thing in life? I can't be caught unawares by Nigeran politicians. They are like Chameleon!
PoliticsRe: ADAMAWA GOVERNORSHIP : PDP Woos Ribadu. by Walelavender(m): 1:55pm On Jul 30, 2014
This is mere political stunts. I don't see Ribadu joining PDP. The reason being obvious. The PDP led government has soiled it hands so much that they can't help it anymore than start 'washing' it off by inviting people with astute and credible records to save their face. However, since Nigerian politicians are the most unstable in the world and without viable ideologies (still subject to research), any move may not be astonishing.

Are they really back to churches now? These Vampires would not leave worshipers alone. Now they say it's only political, yet Churches are being blasted. I grew up in the north and I have lost count of attacks against Churches and Christians. Aside BH, the hatred the nothern muslims(with baffling indoctrinations) have against Christians is very disappointing, only selected few who are learned are reasonable with their judgement. The Christian-Muslim relationship in the South is still commendable, however, with recent trends, I fear an implosion. The world peace is under a serious threat

This is not far from the truth. If the opposition is truly behind the nations woes, the government @ the centre should not hesitate to prosecute them instead of ranting in the print and electronic media. Resourceful time to address the situation is used in name calling. Even human lives are being politicized. Nigeria I hail thee!

Agreed the project is taking too long. But you need to make us take you serious next time on the news, what we expected in the news is not what we read..

You refused to quote fully my position on the National conference(my post on13th Oct 2013), Mr PA. I said it was a ploy to waste tax payers money...You thought you were smart enough to lift where I typed 'soft spot'. Mr PA, its not about GEJ vs Ajimobi. Dont you get it? Oga there is no pedestrian bridge in those pictures. Under construction bridge and make-shift bridge I can see.

A bridge is under construction, don't use mouth collapse it. See bold above, in the eyes of many people, that's what you are here for.
Please you have to try more. I can't just fathom why you won't understand the definition of a bridge. The adjective used to qualify the one I posted earlier was 'pedestrian'. The one under construction is a Reinforced concrete bridge. The first two pictures show the submerged make-shift bridge, while the latter is the RC bridge under construction . Do I need to say this again. Please visit the last thread on this topic and get yourself more informed and stop throwing insult all around.

Wow! I like that. You need to see all my post on this forum and do justice to them if I have been sentimental. Governance shouldn't be reduced to political stunts. It obvious that the government @ the centre is struggling to perform with unfavourable and unpopular policies with square pegs in round holes. Irrespective of the party you represent, I don't give a damn coz they don't put food on my table. Deliver on the dividends of democracy an alleviate your criticism. They ain't doing us a favour by fixing our infrastructures. They were given the mandate to do that! Don't reduce this discuss to PDP or APC. Thanks

Highvotage: @op, It was the temporal bridge that was made for free movement of the people that collapse why the new bridge itsef is still under construction.
It occurred almost 2 week now but people were gathering there to watct rise in water lever in compsrative to were the makeshift bridge used to be.
To be sincere, Oyo government should have hasten the job faster than this to avoid this embberashment or public propaganda from some people.
Lets just continue to pray to God for leaders that will have the love of masses at heart, irrespective of party, religion, ethic or otherwise.
This is not about any propaganda. The one you were referring to few weeks ago, which was reconstructed failed again. Do you think I'm out here to post anything to attract traffic? Sincerely,it did happen and if you don't want to believe me, find out from both the print and electronic media

lastpage: Look, l think you have made your point, dpnt argue with "political otimkpus". We know a lot of them on Nairaland, paid and those who just do it out of sheer ignorance.

The saying that "The people deserve the kind of government they get" is very apt, when it comes to the case of most Nigerians.

I was watching a BBC TV program today about how some residence of Redmond street, in a council area of U.K were negotiating with their council officials about how much the council will "buy-over" their houses from them because those houses, though not council houses, were built on lad purchased by the council and had dangerous level of Methane gas. These means the houses could explode and catch fire at a certain high level of methane (highly combustible gas which seeped into the houses from underground as a result of poor construction procedure)

What really caught my attention was that the Council officials were "negotiating and pleading" with the owners to seel the house to them, so they can demolish it for safety reasons.
Everyone eventually agreed to sell to the council after agreeing a reasonable price but one man still refused to sell his own property ....and he was left alone since that was his choice, but the Council still opted to implement "an Engineering solution" to assist him live safeky albiet a bit uncomfortably!

I asked myself: assuming if this was in Nigeria or Lagos, what would have happened?
from experience, the Governor or LGA Chairman would just by "FIAT Authority", ask those people to move out within seven days, send heavily armed Mopol and Soldiers to beat the daylights out of anyone who decides to "dare question him", destroy all their properties and eventually arrogate the place to himself and his party thugs/cronies.
It happened in Moroko, i happened in Whitesand, it happened under Mallam El Rufai in Abuja, it happened around so many government reclaimed areas.

....and it "hit me" in the face that this is the difference between being "a ruler" and being a "public servant"; being an Oppressor and a Leader.
More importantly, between being a citizen who knows and demands for his right to be respected by those in authority!

Lastpage!

BTW: It irks me so much when and why every important discussion is turned to an E-fight between APC and PDP?
Why cant we discuss issues without colouring it or taking sides, based on political affiliations?
Are we this stewpid or what? angry angry angry

A failed bridge is a failed bridge, temporary or not, ...whether built by Jonathan or Ajumobi, bottom line is that it has failed th epeople who are supposed to be the beneficiary. 'SIMPLES'!
Nice one Bro. This is exactly my position. Sincerely I wasn't out to bring down anyone just that our government both @ state level and the centre have never been pro-active. You made my day!

aresa: Quit deceiving yourself.

Deep sense of responsibility dictates that you honestly and accurately present and title your thread, not to mislead or misrepresent.

I don't have to be anybody's PA or get paid to highlight your deceptions and crookedness.

And unlike you and your self professed love and soft spot for GEJ, I have no love or soft spot for anybody.

One man's good work and governance doesn't start and end with a makeshift bridge, fact remains that he not only built more bridges in the history of that environment, he built the best in that state and the first to be constructed by any civilian administration in the state.
Did you read where I made a comparison with any political party or the past governments that have been privileged to govern Oyo state? Why? coz I don't give a damn about the political class. Besides why don't you quote fully, my comment on GEJ rather than select the part that excites your ego? You just don't want to accept that governance should be all inclusive. I am not that gullible to close my eyes to the wrong in my society. Ask the families of those who lost their loved ones. Common, structures either temporary or permanent should be safe. Referring to the bridge as just a make-shift bridge is laughable as if it was designed for goats and rams. Once bitten twice shy. Justice will prevail

Gbawe: Bruv, anyone can claim to be anything here and many often do. Yet their thought processes never match there acclaimed expertise. A bit like our resident herbalist(Insincere9gerian) who goes around lying he is a medical doctor 'on sabbatical'. If indeed the temporary bridge collapsed then a construction "professional" would be the first to know it is best to be aware of all the necessary facts and relevant construction data/info before making a conclusion. Imagine simply looking at a collapsed temporary bridge and announcing, as a "professional" that "poor construction" caused it?
Oh you guys are really bothered about the word 'Professional'! And that is why you really need one to tell you that a well constructed temporary bridge needs not to fail under worst condition of loading. Since you have failed to address the issue I don't think I need to join issues with people who dont have sanctity for human lives. For your information many lives were lost a couple of weeks ago on the first failed temporary bridge. This same government you are supporting reconstructed it until it failed again! Lives are involved in any design failure be it temporary or permanent. Don't you get it?
PoliticsRe: Apete Bridge, ibadan Collapses Again! What A Government! by Walelavender(op): 11:15pm On Jul 16, 2014
aresa: 1. Having a soft spot for caries more weight than pledging allegiance because soft spots connotes love and affection beyond allegiance..

2. What issue exactly do you want addressed because your dubious and deceptive thread title remains ambiguous and crooked.

3. Your thread says Apete bridge collapse again, but Apete bridge is still under construction and what collapsed was a makeshift or temporary bridge.

4. Talking about governance, Ajomobi built more bridges in that state than any other past state administrator and the development, progress and investments in Ibadan with man many name brands remains unrivaled.

5. Ajimobi built the Secretariat/Bodija bridge.

6. Ajomobi built Ogbere Babanla bridge

7. Ajomobi built Olomi bridge.

8. Ajomobi built Ayeye Bridge

9. Ajomobi built Osoro River bridge

10. Ajomobi built Alaadorin, Sakutu bridge

11. Ajomobi built Omowunmi-Olorunsogo bridge

12. Simeon Adebo-Adeyi-Awolowo Road bridge

13. Ajomobi built Mokola-Cele-Baracks Junction bridge

14. Ajomobi built Mokola flyover bridge

They call Ajimobi Bridge Builder for a reason..

If you feel like crying wolf, spreading fake and bogus crap, please properly select your victims..
Do I need to contest your 'well' presented projects Mr PA? Did I insult the personality of the Governor who got my vote in 2011? Were lives not lost couple of weeks ago when the pedestrian bridge failed? Could there have been casualties if the re-constructed one had failed during the day yesterday? Is the definition of a bridge not a structure carrying a road or a path across a river or an obstacle? If my post is really giving you a headache won't you have to bare it since you were paid to do this? Answer all these questions with a deep sense of responsibility. Goodnite
PoliticsRe: Apete Bridge, ibadan Collapses Again! What A Government! by Walelavender(op): 10:55pm On Jul 16, 2014
blaise26abj: This is a reasonable line of thought. If the Govt or the contractor is slow, call the attention of the governor to it. OP made it seem like a major bridge collapsed. There is no way any makeshift wooden bridge wont collapse with that kind of flow unless it is a RC bridge or suspended steel bridge and the OP showed a pix of one being constructed right beside the temporary bridge.

OP should not politicize it. If previous govts did the needful, will we be here talking about this?

Besides every "professional" should know that construction slows down significantly during rainy seasons.
For your information it was not even a wooden bridge. It was made with a chain of containters welded together to allow the flow to pass through; and laterite was laid on the containers. I was indifferent to it because the current of the flow will definitely wash away the laterite and submerge the whole thing and that was what exactly happened. What if it had happened during the day as lives where lost couple of weeks ago. There is nothing to politicize here if there is really regard for lives. I'v got some colleagues at the firm. They said the government isn't cooperating! I don't have to be partisan to point out a wrong. Thanks
