Brendaniel:Noted, while you do that, please call out the failure and errors of individuals or organizations who are at fault too. |
SisterAnn:Receipts of what? Please share? |
Druss:Now, I doubt your statement, I think you are making up that story: "From actually liaising with Pengassan members and senior staff of oil and gas companies." Let me help you, since you either don't want to read or be reasonable. "PENGASSAN is the acronym for the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, a trade union established in 1979 to advocate for and protect the welfare of upper and middle-level employees in Nigeria's petroleum and natural gas industry, while also promoting the national interest in the sector. " Why do you want us to forget the literal meaning? Is it because it is contrary to the misinformation that you are spreading. Can you see the statement in bold? Abi you can't see again? |
Misterone:You still have not read about "Force majeure" or you deliberately don't want to see the point. Any of the parties to any contract can declare "Force majeure" in accordance with the terms and procedures stated in the contract. "A party to a contract can declare force majeure if an unforeseen, external event makes it impossible for them to perform their contractual obligations, provided the contract's force majeure clause allows for it. The declaration must be done according to the specific terms of the contract, including the event's definition, the notification period, and the required details about the event and mitigation efforts." In other words, Dangote Refinery or the Contractor Company can declare Force majeure if the contract could not be fulfilled due to labor strike which is a condition beyond either party's control. |
Brendaniel:You and any aggrieved person or organization are at liberty to challenge the state government in court, with evidences, if you feel they have done wrong. |
Kukutente23:Sometimes, people exhibit and expose their lack of knowledge even when they want to prove they are better informed. "Based in New York City, Sahara Reporters was founded in 2006 by Omoyele Sowore.[2][3] It employs staff members in Nigeria and the United States. The site's publication of leaked, often unfiltered information has disrupted Nigeria's traditional media scene.[4] By basing his operation in New York, Sowore for years had a degree of protection from the consequences of publishing often scandalous information about Nigeria's most powerful people. He shuttled between his family home in New Jersey and Nigeria, where he is a citizen, without much interference. After launching an open presence in Lagos, Nigeria, in 2017, Sahara Reporters has come under a series of attacks, as reported by the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), among others. On December 10, 2019, Sahara Reporters staff told CPJ that their Nigerian bank account was frozen without advance notice in October. Their website was separately disabled twice due to allegations of copyright infringement, and staff report cyberattacks and increased surveillance outside their Lagos office, according to Sahara Reporters staff who spoke to CPJ." In case you want to check, this is an extract from https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sahara_Reporters#:~:text=After%20launching%20an%20open%20presence,without%20advance%20notice%20in%20October. Now let's discuss: Does Sahara Reporters have a Nigerian office? Answer - Yes. Does Sahara Reporters operate in Nigeria? Answer - Yes. Does Sahara Reporters have staff operational in Nigeria? Answer - Yes. If you agree with the answers above. Then you should know that the staff of Sahara reporters PAYE tax must be remitted to the IRS of the states where they are resident. If you agree with the answers above, then you should know that NRS(FIRS) has right to demand CIT, WHT and VAT remittances from Sahara Reporters for transactions and profit generated in Nigeria. Same applies to every online businesses and organizations, irrespective of whatever country where the corporate office was incorporated, that generates income(profit) from Nigeria business activities. Mind you, I never referred to freelancers or guest journalist. I referred to staff, either casual or permanent, of Sahara Reporters who are employed in Nigeria. Your lack of education on the operation and applicability of tax in Nigeria is the reason you are confused or cleverly trying to maneuver around Sahara Reporters tax obligations in Nigeria. Get some tax education please. |
Opebiman:You can wail and lament forever but it will not change the fact that unionism is legal and lawful in the labor within Nigeria and abroad. No union forces staff of any organization to join them, however the Union will not allow any organization within their space to prevent, expressly oppose or victimize their staff that join unions. The unions will take up the challenge with such organizations. Is the Union the government or the owner of the refinery that you want them to stand up? The federal government and management of the legacy NNPC refineries ran the refineries aground and killed it. They will only have legitimate issues with government or the acquirers of the legacy refineries if the welfare, benefits, payoff and gratuities of their member staff are not paid. The unions are not the Nigerian security forces who should ensure crude oil isn't stolen. The unions are not PPPRA or Ministry of finance who should verify and confirm due subsidy payments. The unions are not the standard organizations that verify the quality of petroleum products imported into Nigeria. Take such issues up with the appropriate organizations, not the PENGASSON or NUPENG. |
SisterAnn:You, Sowore and Sahara Reporters are allowed to treat their claim as an allegation. Just as every accusations Sowore, Sahara Reporters and others have made about Wike, Tinubu and others are mere allegations too. The onus is on Sahara Reporters to debunk the claim officially and perhaps challenge the allegations in court, if get so much desire. The labor practice in the media industry in Nigeria isn't strange to us. We know how they operate when it comes to labor employment. |
Druss:How did you get that information? Do you even know the meaning of PENGASSON? You should research it first. Junior staff often join the NUPENG. Some people like you just talk without getting information yet you have Google at your reach but you would rather use your data to communicate unverified information. |
Brendaniel:Are you or anyone superior to the state government when it comes to allocation and permits on use of land within her territory? How could a state government demolish properties without proper documentation to prove the properties are illegal. If you want to see the government documentation showing that those properties are illegal, you will have to go to court to ask the government, not me. You are the one that said your fellow Igbo developers may have prove of bribery and they might have written petitions to the appropriate authority on that allegation. That is what we asked you to show, if you have a copy of the petition. |
SisterAnn:The faceless group sounds like me abi. Are you Sowore? Focus on the message and stop deflecting from it. |
Misterone:Do you know what is called "Force majeure"? Go and read about it. |
Opebiman:Stop being ignorant, if you don't know just do some research online. Banks have their own unions. Universities have their own unions. Staff are free to join anytime they desire. |
Brendaniel:Where is the Petition they wrote to allege the bribery? Please post it here since you know. Where is their filing in court? Please show us. |
EngrHumble:Do you really think these PENGASSON members don't have adequate information about the situation in Dangote Refinery and the allegations that they have made against the management? These guys are senior staff of all organizations in the Nigerian oil and gas sector. They have more information than you do and they have a right to protect the welfare, remuneration, benefits and working conditions of member staff and job opportunities of Nigerians. There is nothing illegal about strike, it is legitimate under international labor laws. |
EngrHumble:Mr man, strike is also a legal means under international labor laws. |
BarrElChapo:This is the crux of the matter: Dangote Refinery knows that the information about payroll and pay grade and pay disparities can't be hidden for so long with Nigerians in middle and senior management positions in Dangote Refinery. Once those staff of the Dangote Refinery have that information and they are allowed to join unions. There will be a revolt against the management and push for salary equity and equality. There will be a push to improve the welfare, remuneration and benefits of Dangote Refinery staff which will translate to more cost on him an resources. In advanced countries, expatriates will only be allowed by the home office or interior ministry, if and only if, the skills for the job is unavailable in the country especially from citizens of the country. I am too sure a lot of expatriates in Dangote Refinery are doing jobs that a lot of Nigerians are skilled and qualified to do. This is why Dangote Refinery management has been strategically under paying Nigerian staff below industry standard, engaging Nigerian staff on poor working conditions, paying expatriates higher based on the fact they employ them as international staff and pay them in FOREx, employing more foreigners packaged as expatriates, unwilling to tolerate union membership in Dangote Refinery and alienate the staff from other industry association or unions. |
Elusive001:I don't have time and resources to waste on Sowore. I don't follow impostors like him. I am not his fan and can't be fooled by him. If you want to form a righteous man, then be righteous indeed not to come on the media and insult, disrespectfully address people, especially in high or esteemed offices, blab all over and play politics of character assassination. |
Kukutente23:I hope you know that we are not all stupid on naira land. If you have a staff that you didn't give an offer letter, there is no doubt that you are not remitting the PAYE deductions or how do you prove the deductions? If that is the case then I doubt your audited financial statements and I expect that NRS should also doubt and investigate your financial statements. I can bet you have never worked in paid employment or had an offer letter from a reputable organization so you can't understand - it will not make sense to you because you can't comprehend it. Sowore that knows to run his mouth on media can as well take it upon himself to sue Wike to court since he claims he has evidences now, the Attorney General of the federation doesn't have to do that for him. I am too sure NRS and state government where the Sahara Reporters offices are located are following developments on Sahara Reporters as it concerns PAYE and CIT. An investigation may even be in play on covert level. ![]() |
Kukutente23:Sowore cheating Sahara Reporters staff and not remitting proper tax of PAYE and maybe Company Income Tax is simply fraudulent, corrupt and criminal. Government officials who loot treasury and enrich themselves are also engaged in corruption and that is criminal too. What is the difference between Sowore and Wike? . Is it not a case of kettle calling pot black? The group doesn't even need to take Sowore to court. It is staff and state government or FCTIRS and or NRS(FIRS) that should take Sowore to court. Sowore too should take Tinubu or Wike to court if he has cases and proofs against them. We don't need Sowore's show and drama of self righteousness when he is actually a criminal too. |
Elusive001:Prosecute those persons in court if you have proof and solid case. |
Kukutente23:On the contrary, I don't support federal or state government who don't pay workers salary or engage workers in questionable working conditions. We know there are clever fools who want to see the government and certain persons in the government ruined just to satisfy their wishes. Hence, they identify and support Sowore's charade. If Sowore employs staff without paying them salary or benefits or issuing them offer letters or remitting their PAYE Taxes to the government. That is stealing and cheating the staff and government. Why do you want to look away from that situation with Sahara Reporters and the staff? |
Morbeta11:I can't stop laughing 😅 at the picture. As in - seriously |
BabaIbo:Okay, we don hear. Go and invest in your state or elsewhere - leave Lagos alone. |
Validated:Now you want to make an accusation of Sahara Reporters about Wike! How ridiculous can you be? |
Lifestone:If you ask me: I would say Peter Obi doesn't know what he wants or he is unintentional, unstrategic and careless about his ambition. All he wants to do is critic and badmouth the government of the day while others are already building alliances and platforms to challenge the incumbent government. |
hegelian:There is no confusion in the story. Leave the writer or speaker, look at the content: Is it true that Sahara Reporters staff are working without employment letters, underpaid below minimum wage and condition of service is poor? The PAYE Tax off Sahara Reporters; is it being remitted appropriately? What about their pension, NHS and NHF? What about their group insurance cover? |
Spotlight001:Ti o ba fa gburu, gburu a fa e naa. Those who live in the glass house need to be careful when throwing stones. Copy - Sowore |
Brendaniel:To prosecute anyone for giving and taking bribe, the giver of the bribe must make the allegations with substantial proofs and then the receivers can be arrested and prosecuted accordingly. Please note that both giver and receiver, where proven, committed a crime punishable by law. Please, can you tell your Igbo developers that might or must have given bribe and have proofs to come up with their allegations to the Lagos State government through petitions. They can also be advised to go to court if they are aggrieved or have a case to prove. |
seunmsg: |
Brendaniel:You can blame the Lagos State government for such negligence but you can't fault the Lagos state government for the demolition of those illegal properties, however late they come to do the demolition. The Lagos state government must have been notifying them of the disapproval of such building but they must have been bribing their way through until the order came from the executive government of Lagos state to demolish the illegal structures. |
gabbytabby:My brother, you have said it all. |
