NURTW is the Trade Union of Road Transport Workers in Nigeria, but you don't see them go after GOD IS GOOD, GUO, EKESON and the likes, even if they are in the Transportation business, their drivers don't also join any Union.

NUT is the Trade Union of Teachers in Primary and Secondary School, but you don't see them go after Chrisland College, Grange School, Charterhouse Lagos, British International College and tell the teachers to join them.

But you think it is ok for Dangote to build a Refinery solving all our collective petroleum imports problems, and then, allow PENGASSAN to dictate to him and shut down his Refinery whenever they feel like.

I think any Refinery worker that is not happy at Dangote Refinery and needs the Union to help him, should seek employment somewhere else, or take Dangote to court.

That is the reason I called your attention to "force majeure" clause in every of such contract. This "force majeure" can be triggered by either the company or Dangote Refinery in the event of PENGASSON strike disrupting their ability to deliver on the contract.

PENGASSON gave a short notice. The law doesn't expressly state the length of the notice.

If you agree with the answers above, then you should know that NRS(FIRS) has right to demand CIT, WHT and VAT remittances from Sahara Reporters for transactions and profit generated in Nigeria. Dangote went ahead to import crude And the fact that his facility sits on a free trade zone gives him the right to do it and most importantly..his facility can crack any crude meaning he doesn't need to stay dependent on Nigerian crude..NNPC failed..

NUPRC tried by calling products from Dangote concentrated with impurities (sulphur) today Nigerians attest to the fact that the product of the refinery are the best for their engines...NUPRC failed..

NUPENG tried by threatening to prevent lifting of products from the refinery..Dangote bought 4000 trucks to do it himself..they failed..

It is PENGASSAN turn..let see how it unfold..

Some how ..all these unions never stood up when the refineries died..when people were stealing crude and subsidy money.. when people imported adulterated products because they are complicit..

You can wail and lament forever but it will not change the fact that unionism is legal and lawful in the labor within Nigeria and abroad.

No union forces staff of any organization to join them, however the Union will not allow any organization within their space to prevent, expressly oppose or victimize their staff that join unions. The unions will take up the challenge with such organizations.

Is the Union the government or the owner of the refinery that you want them to stand up? The federal government and management of the legacy NNPC refineries ran the refineries aground and killed it. They will only have legitimate issues with government or the acquirers of the legacy refineries if the welfare, benefits, payoff and gratuities of their member staff are not paid.

The unions are not the Nigerian security forces who should ensure crude oil isn't stolen. The unions are not PPPRA or Ministry of finance who should verify and confirm due subsidy payments. The unions are not the standard organizations that verify the quality of petroleum products imported into Nigeria. Take such issues up with the appropriate organizations, not the PENGASSON or NUPENG.

These guys are senior staff of all organizations in the Nigerian oil and gas sector. They have more information than you do and they have a right to protect the welfare, remuneration, benefits and working conditions of member staff and job opportunities of Nigerians.

There is nothing illegal about strike, it is legitimate under international labor laws.

He is clearly not being sincere, my sibling who is am engineer at the refinery was sacked eventhough she didn't join the union. My younger brother works at MRS whose owner is Dangote's cousin and he said there's no union there and they the Nigerian workers are being paid peanuts compared to immigrants workers, even someone from Ghana is being paid in USD. We'll see what becomes of the meeting with the FG.

This is the crux of the matter:

Dangote Refinery knows that the information about payroll and pay grade and pay disparities can't be hidden for so long with Nigerians in middle and senior management positions in Dangote Refinery.

Once those staff of the Dangote Refinery have that information and they are allowed to join unions. There will be a revolt against the management and push for salary equity and equality. There will be a push to improve the welfare, remuneration and benefits of Dangote Refinery staff which will translate to more cost on him an resources.

In advanced countries, expatriates will only be allowed by the home office or interior ministry, if and only if, the skills for the job is unavailable in the country especially from citizens of the country. I am too sure a lot of expatriates in Dangote Refinery are doing jobs that a lot of Nigerians are skilled and qualified to do.

This is why Dangote Refinery management has been strategically under paying Nigerian staff below industry standard, engaging Nigerian staff on poor working conditions, paying expatriates higher based on the fact they employ them as international staff and pay them in FOREx, employing more foreigners packaged as expatriates, unwilling to tolerate union membership in Dangote Refinery and alienate the staff from other industry association or unions.

If you have a staff that you didn't give an offer letter, there is no doubt that you are not remitting the PAYE deductions or how do you prove the deductions? If that is the case then I doubt your audited financial statements and I expect that NRS should also doubt and investigate your financial statements.

I can bet you have never worked in paid employment or had an offer letter from a reputable organization so you can't understand - it will not make sense to you because you can't comprehend it.

Sowore that knows to run his mouth on media can as well take it upon himself to sue Wike to court since he claims he has evidences now, the Attorney General of the federation doesn't have to do that for him.

I am too sure NRS and state government where the Sahara Reporters offices are located are following developments on Sahara Reporters as it concerns PAYE and CIT. An investigation may even be in play on covert level.
