Troops Intercept Vans Supplying Logistics to Suspected ISWAP Terrorists in Borno

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have successfully intercepted two pick-up vans suspected to be conveying critical logistics supplies to fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Borno State, reinforcing ongoing security operations across North-East Nigeria.

The development was confirmed in a statement issued by the Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force Operation Hadin Kai, Lt Colonel Sani Uba, who disclosed that the operation was executed following credible human intelligence.

According to the statement made available to The Bureau News, security operatives received actionable intelligence regarding suspicious movement of materials from Dapchi in Yobe State toward the Magumeri axis of Borno State. Troops were immediately deployed and tactically intercepted the vehicles along the identified route.

Recovered items include:

Two civilian vehicles
31 spare tyres
23 spare rims
Two bicycles
12 ignition key starters
Three alternators
Two bags of flour
One mattress
Five bags of charcoal
34 tubers of yam
Two blankets
Two nylons of garri
Assorted adult and children clothing
One power bank
Six mobile phones
Cash in different denominations

“Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North-East Operation HADIN KAI, working closely with the Civilian Joint Task Force, successfully intercepted two pick-up vans conveying logistics suspected to be intended for ISWAP terrorists,” the statement said.

The drivers of the vehicles have been taken into military custody for interrogation to determine their level of involvement and to support ongoing counter-terrorism investigations.

The operation highlights the effectiveness of intelligence-driven security efforts and collaboration between security forces and local security partners in cutting off terrorist logistics chains.

“This successful interception underscores the determination of troops to deny terrorists freedom of movement and disrupt their supply networks,” Lt Col. Uba assured.

The Bureau News recalls that in January, similar coordinated operations led to the interception of a large cache of arms in Zamfara State by troops of 1 Brigade, Operation Fasan Yamma, in collaboration with the Department of State Services.

Security watchers believe sustained pressure on logistics networks is critical to weakening terrorist capabilities across Nigeria’s North-East.

This is what made one big man to be incarcerated up till today in UK prison. He was jailed with the wife and his doctor in UK, though the wife sentence has ended but the big man and his lawyer are still in prison despite the intervention of Nigeria Government to make a deal and bring him back to Nigeria to serve the remaining sentence.

The largest bank robbery took place on 11 July 2007 at the Dar es Salaam Investment Bank in Baghdad, Iraq. The theft was reportedly an inside job, with two (or perhaps three, reports vary) of the bank's security guards involved. The thieves made off with $282 million in US Dollars and 220 million Iraqi Dinars (worth around $173,000 at the time).

As this robbery took place during the Iraqi Civil War (2006–2008), the resources and reach of the Iraqi police were severely constrained and no-one seems to have ever been charged. It is likely that the guards were either working for or with one of the sectarian militias active in Baghdad at the time.

The biggest unanswered question, however, is how a relatively small private bank came to have $282 million US Dollars in cash. The Dar Es Salaam Bank (which was 70% owned by HSBC between 2005 and 2013) remained in business for more than a decade after the heist, but seems to have shut down in 2018. Its last financial statements were submitted to the Iraqi Securities and Exchange Commission in Q2 2018.

The history of this category is complicated by the fact that many of the largest thefts in history have been carried out by heads of state against the banking systems of their own countries. You know that if this Bamgboye guy had seen their vehicle labelled ICE or something, he wouldn't even dare come to his house. He would have reroute immediately. They don't stay in one place in a day, they also pay for guides to help them in monitoring ICE before they go to work, even at work, they still pay monitoring guys to be on alert just Incase.....everywhere they go, monitoring guys always go with them to survey locations and sadly, they pay these guys from their hustling.

This issue is very easy if at all Nigeria security are ready to tackle it once and for all.....Why can't the security outfits, Police, Army etc disguise as passengers, even act as the driver themselves wearing bullet proof vests...drive to the location and get stopped by the hoodlums before you unleashed the dragon of fire on these sons of terror...... it's easy if we are very serious.
