KingCold:Eish, askies. We should get used to Snowtember - climate change. |
Reports say hefty snowfall has disrupted movement on South Africa’s roads, leaving people stranded in their vehicles overnight. Officials say the N3 highway which connects Johannesburg and the East Coast city of Durban was particularly impacted, leading to the closure of several sections and rendering detours inaccessible. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wFN0I1BtYZ0?si=QSssIYgkSd1PJmZQ Emergency services were mobilised to reach those stranded in their vehicles, although the number of affected individuals and their condition remains unclear. “Emergency services have been working flat out through the night. They have been attempting to reach as many roads users as they can,” Dhoogra said. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mloerfzr1Bc?si=39mVwxwQHLoWKtAt The government of the KwaZulu-Natal province said in a statement at midday that blankets and meals had been delivered to some stranded motorists. “Trucks had been parked on the side of the road since Friday”, Road Traffic Management Corporation communications officer Simon Zwane told AFP. “Buses travelling between provinces have been stuck at petrol stations for around seven hours,” he said. Motorist Muhammad Goolam told the Newzroom Afrika channel that he slept overnight in his car with his children outside the town of Harrismith, around 270 kilometres (170 miles) southeast of Johannesburg. “Over 13 hours, food supplies out, I don’t see us managing to drive out of here without any assistant from emergency personnel,” he said. The Arrive Alive road safety campaign said in a post on X that the some areas had seen snowfall up to six feet deep. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r3Sr4qQQiis?si=b5avwGHwxryK99xk BORDER CLOSURES South Africa’s Border Management Authority said three border posts with the kingdom of Lesotho has been closed as “the current conditions pose a significant danger.” Expecting additional snowfall, there are warnings in place for various parts of the country, according to Luthando Masimini, a forecaster with the South African Weather Services. He described it as “an extreme case.” Apart from the areas at risk, this unusual occurrence attracted people who were eager to witness the snow. Justin Nadasem Baker and his family travelled for three hours from Johannesburg to Warden, which is around 50 kilometres from Harrismith. “It was a three-hour drive. We are excited. It has been many, many years since we saw snow,” he said.

Mariangeles:Yes you're suppressing a thread with a positive message. |
Mariangeles:Are you trying to suppress a thread promoting African unity? |
Comments Pics wont upload. What's it with this new system? |
Former South African president Jacob Zuma’s daughter has been sworn in as a new member of the Pan African Parliament (PAP). Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla was among several politicians who were sworn in as members of the PAP in Midrand (Johannesburg) on Monday. In a video posted on the Parliament of RSA’s X page, Zuma-Sambudla said she was excited about her new role. “I am excited to take on this role because I have a passion for African unity. Being here is going to be kind of a driving force,” she said, In an interview with the SABC, Zuma-Sambudla said the PAP is a place where politicians from different parties can be united under the umbrella of the African agenda. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4WfeWPT2IZs?si=UzgQbggeMLJyNrYd "The Pan African Parliament is very important. When we talk about African unity it starts with organisations like this. What makes me happy is that as much as we come here as different parties in this building, we are so united,” she said. Zuma-Sambudla is a member of the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party, the third biggest party in SA lead by Jacob Zuma. She has been criticised for moving up in the party because of her relation to her father. Close to 20 parliamentarians from Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Liberia, Madagascar, Mauritania, Nigeria, and South Africa have been sworn in as members of the continental parliament. According to the African Union’s (AU) website, PAP was set up to ensure the full participation of Africans in the economic development and integration of the continent.

meobizy:Dang, Sympathy-Chidimma stands no chance against Shudufhadzo! Zozibini has already won Miss Universe - she would've wiped the floor with Chidimma 🇿🇦🏆🏆🏆🏆 |
Compare recent Miss SA winners with Miss Universe Nigeria, Chidimma. 1. Chidimma Adetshina 🇳🇬 2. Shudufhadzo Musida 🇿🇦 3. Zozibini Tunzi 🇿🇦 (Miss Universe) 4. Ndavi Nokeri 🇿🇦

This Nigerian guy says 98% of drugs sold in South Africa are by Igbos. Its an instant unverifiable fact but worthy of frontpage Nairaland mods!!! Its your modus operandi - this very thread being a case in point. Frontpage!!!
|
This week's mods are drunk on negative SA news 🇳🇬👎🏾💩🤣👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾 Nigerian women are not the problem - its their men who ruined their reputation worldwide. |
arantess:Is it a fact blacks aren't allowed in Orania and please attach proof of this (not from idiots on social media but actual legislation/law). |
JaceBlaze:It's Quanitaa Hunter from News24. What does she know about the lived experience of black South Africans. That was Aljazeeras first mistake. I lived in Hillbrow as a student and saw first hand how corrupt Nigerians are in SA. She lives in the suburbs. Nigerians here on Nairaland know they're corrupt as hell , they're just silent coz they want to infiltrate SA. We shouldn't allow it comrades. |
JaceBlaze:Dude, calling us xenophobic DOESN'T AFFECT US at all. You cant be a criminal and then turn back and avt like a victim. Al Jazeera and BBC aren't interviewing the South Africans who's identities were stolen and now their lives are stuck in limbo and are living in poverty as a result, while Chidimma is receiving crowns. |
Gadafii:Air Peace might have to do emergency evacuations if you don't watch your mouth 😈😈😈 |
Gadafii:Cute how you think this will be solved on social media 😂😂😂😂 |
mysticwarrior:Lol, were you born yesterday - we've had 2 rounds of deadly xenophobic riots since 2008 and the last one was targeted directly at you. Remember Air Peace rescue mission 🇳🇬👎🏾😂😂😂 We've been controlling the narrative, i see you're finally waking up to reality. |
arantess:Do you know what Orania is or how it came about - or should i give you a history lesson? |
KLEINBASS:Dude I'm so shocked. Al Jazeera messed up here. Quanitaa Hunter is totally off, that's why the EFF hates her. |
Wow, Al Jazeera - there's no proof Nigerians commit crimes in SA? |
Gadafii:I feel like posting on SA twitter that Nigerians are stealing pets in SA and eating them. It will be very satisfying like this thread is satisfying alot of you 🦹♀️😈😈😈 |
Gadafii:I don't engage in unscientific threads that make frontpage nonetheless. I'll leave that to your type. |
Sepukku:Morpheus, sit down. Imagine me running after naira |
Earthscience:Noted, thanks man 👍🏽🙏🏾 |
KLEINBASS:😂😂😂 |
Sepukku:And yet that one talent she has (sex appeal) dwarfed her Nigerian opponents "sex appeal, musical talent" and collabs with US stars 🇳🇬👎🏾💩💩💩💩 SA i hail you! 🇿🇦🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆 |
