Guy,seems you understand politics well.most of the northern pdp chieftains offered no strong resistance to the buhari tsunami.they were neutral or worked for apc subtly that is one of the reasons that gave buhari bloc votes in the ne/nw.
It is also the same reason pdp usually gets bloc votes from ss/se.only edo state resisted and gej won there narrowly while rochas and amechi were taken unawares.apc simply allowed pdp have their way in other states,they didnt even have the resources to mount any resistance.things will be different next year.apc have started mounting resistance in ss/se already and may even take the initiative in proactiveness.mere popularity of candidates and parties are not enough,other factors must follow

I keep telling people 2019 will be a shocker. This SE & SS guys are busy focusing on how to divide northern votes and not paying attention to the crack in their backyards. Apc will surely perform better in this zones. The wise ones are already aligning.
