Congratulations.... einsteino: Here is my story so far, decided to make it detailed in case there is a thing or two someone else may benefit from.
DECISION TO TRAVEL: In the words of Jill Scott, "Do not stop dreaming just because you had a nightmare'. I started the pursuit of escape velocity in 2014, looked at Aussie Study visa, tried Aussie PR, and even applied for a Canadian TRV, the refusal would later sentence me to purgatory [LVO]
IELTS: first wrote Academic for Canada study visa in 2014, GT for Aussie PR in 2016, GT for Canada PR in 2017. ECA: Oct 11 2017 ITA: Oct 18 2017 (cutoff:438, my CRS:441) AOR: Nov 23 2017 MEP: Dec 7 2017 NA2: Dec 11 2017 Received GCMS: Jan 29 2018 File Transferred to LVO: Jan 10 2018 IP2: Feb 27 2018 (Mass IP2 crew) ADR (Employment & POF): April 11 2018 Submitted ADR: April 19 2018 Received GCMS: April 23 2018 Received GCMS: June 22 2018. from this I noticed CIO Recommended Interview! contacted DJM and i was replied with "...there maybe need to interview you." GU: July 11 2018.. with this I inferred there has been a new activity on my file, I mailed an MP pleading he gets in touch with IRCC and lets me in on the update. Replied
with this I heaved a sigh of relief.
ADR(Eye & Height and Passport Travel Doc):
Received GCMS: July 26 2018 ... Actually the MP's mail had more recent info than the gcms, I noticed LVO reviewed my ADR after CIO recommended Interview, was convinced andd passed my eligibility. Another thing I learnt from this my 4th GCMS was the fact that there is a 3week lag in gcms delivery. I reviewed all 4 GCMS I had received so far, and the activities that meaning it only shows you the info contained in your file as at when you applied for your GCMS not when it was sent to you.
Same day, few hours later...ADR(Passport Travel Doc) & PPR (I think they came together)
Submitted Passport: July 27 2018 Application Approved: August 8 2018 PUM: August 13 2018 VOH: August 14 2018
Landed: Yesterday (13 October 2018)
what is interesting is how we start this journey with eyes on only one thing, PR! little is said of the great bonus it brings, and it isn't the utopia of life in Canada, rather it is the many beautiful souls it has brought into my life; people I have come to know in this pursuit. I am eternally grateful to Bimpsy99, sweetri, feygbe, nekdre, kayla10, 40manlappy, ugoiyke, kontagious, newmum0615, glitteringstar, inshort everyone here. It hasn't been a smooth journey, I certainly wouldn't have been able to see this arduous task through without you guys, the checkups, the counsel and the support. I am thankful for the uncertainties that made this worth celebrating. |

congrats!!! armstead: Very Short Post Alert
In another news!!!
Apologies this is coming late. It’s PPR!!!!
Started this journey in October 2017 after we made a decision to relocate.
IELTS showed me pepper as I had to take it three times:
1st - 10 February 2018 LRWS 6,8,8,7.5
2nd - 24 March 2018 LRWS 7.5,8,6.5,8, when I saw this result midnight of 6 April, I quickly registered for the following day’s test without much preparation.
3rd - 7 April 2018 LRWS 8.5,8.5,7,8. As a result of this third IELTS result, our CRS jumped to 450 from 3hundred and sth(don’t ask me questions ). I would say please don’t give up on this journey because I was almost losing confidence in myself after my second IELTS result as I rarely fail exams. I also got encouragement on this forum seeing some people gave (as our Indian brothers will say) IELTS up to 7 times and now in Canada. Hence, I had to quickly re-take the test to avoid losing momentum.
Timeline
Minimum invited CRS 441 CRS 450 FSWO NOC 1111 ITA 25 April AOR 5 June MEP 18 June IP1 19 June GCMS note request 30 August (had to request as I was scared after reading some comments here about Pension fund not being considered by CIC for POF) IP2 27 September Ghost update 2 October Received GCMS 2 October (everything looks fine and I remember sharing here my PF was considered as POF as minimum required fund was marked met)
Then the long awaited golden mail arrived!!!!
PPR 3 October 2018 at exactly 3:39am, can’t remember the seconds No ADR Family size 3 Ottawa VO
ECA - I used WES but those guys plus our regular naija strike stressed me Walahi; I sha got the completed report for spouse and myself after 6 months.
PCC - Got for U.K. and Nigeria. U.K PCC is pretty easy to get once you follow instructions on their site. For Nigeria PCC, used inspector Moshood for spouse and myself. He charged us N17,000 because we couldn’t go to Alagbon as all correspondence with him was via email. However, I sent a friend to pick the original certificates from him and scan to me. Contrary to what I have read here, I decided to exclude from my eApr the Alagbon stamped fingerprints papers accompanying the PCC because I felt it wasn’t relevant since CIC only requested for PCC; so I only uploaded the Police certificates with our application. Thank God there was no issue with it. Although, I wanted to take style avoid implicating myself as I was in the U.K. when I submitted my application and the procedure for getting fingerprints done was expensive for me and stressful; so I bought ink pad from one shop and did the stuff in my room, then scanned to inspector Moshood. I felt if I had included the fingerprints with my application, any inquisitive VO may flag that “how did he get PCC as the fingerprints were not certified or stamped by U.K. police &/or Nigeria High commission”. Just my thinking though.
POF - Hmmm, I had to patch this one o; I used Treasury bills from Stanbic as 55% of POF (didn’t include any bank statements), cash in Dom account with a foreign bank was 28% (only submitted stamped bank statements and a letter from the bank stating when the account was opened as I intentionally didn’t want to get the format letter requested by CIC because I have credit card debt with the bank which I wasn’t sure may affect my POF; God had mercy sha) while my PF was the remaining 17% of POF. I prayed o for them to consider this PF as it was my last resort and only hope at that time as I don’t have anybody that can gift me money. Can’t remember the last time I got money gift again, maybe childhood. As advised on this tread, I prepared a table for the POF and explained each, particularly the PF section, very well as I had initially withdrawn some voluntary contributions in 2017 and this reflected on the Pension statements. Had to let them know the withdrawn amount was a voluntary contribution and does not constitute part of the accessible 25% o before somebody will start running around for money way no loss upon ADR for the balance.
Work experience - got over 3 years work experience and getting reference letter was pretty easy. God bless my employer. Although, not necessary, I submitted work experience letter for my wife too since we had it readily available.
Medicals - Everything was fine for 3 of us other than the Dr recommending me for a further test because he sighted protein in my urine. God forbid!!! But thank God all was well after the further test although he still included protein something which my Jesus had taken away.
Travel history - just US and UK and no Visa refusal history
Criminal history - None by His grace other than childhood stealing of pencils and biros; and beating traffic lights in Lagos; which Nigeria PCC did not capture.
What again ??
Ok lest I forget, I got 15 points for sibling in Canada so provided Copies of her PR card, utility bills within 3 months of eApr, marriage certificates and birth certificates showing names of both parents. I included sibling’s marriage certificate and newspaper publication for change of name as sibling is married and utility bill carries husband’s name.
My prayer for all still waiting for IELTS, ECA, ITA, POF and PPR is that it will surely come speedily in Jesus’ name. Amen
This thread is very informative and is got selfless people always willing to share. May God bless you all.

amen. A big congratulations.... Inception12: Praise God saints, finally got my PPR in the night. Timeline below; AOR....29th May IP1.....6th June IP2 and ADR.....20th Sept PPR......3 October
ADR was for additional bank statements for pOF...i had initially only used employer pension fund statement. Thank God for this forum, I was stuck at CRS of 430 with only a bachelor's until i learnt of using ACCA diploma (for finishing papers F1 to F9) to get two or more certificate.
Thanks to all who answered my questions and helped in any way. May God bless you who are waiting for your PPR, you'll get there eventually. |

congratulations.... wurdz: To God be the Glory!!!
Wifey pushed for this journey Sept 2017. Wrote IELTS Oct 1 and passed. We started ECA November. I wrote IELTS Feb 1 and also passed. We decided that I was going to be principal applicant ‘cos I had a masters degree and better IELTS result.
IELTS: 9,9,7.5,7.5 ECA completed: Feb20,2018(entered pool same day) ITA: Feb 21,2018 AOR: Mar29,2018 MEP: Apr 24 (Though it Med processing started Apr9 – we found out Hospital didn’t send in Wifeys result for funny reasons so she was asked to come redo it after about a month) IP1:Apr8 Long wait…. GCMS Notes ordered May xx and received July11 (Everything seemed fine outside the fact that PoF was deemed to be short as they did not factor in funds from RSA) July 11- raised CSE and resent RSA and did a LOE explaining that I have access to 25% as stated in the Pensions Act. July 25 – raised another CSE and sent in updated PoF (this time around without RSA as I wasn’t fully assured bout the use of RSA by IRCC and madam) Another wait………….. 2nd GCMS note ordered Aug 27 and received Sept 27 and NOTHING had changed except that they received my additional documents. Sent a mail Sept 20 to remind them that only 9days left to the 6months deadline
Oct 2, raised CSE that 6months had elapsed
Oct 3 PPR (yay!!!!)

CONGRATS......KEEP SOARING HIGHER IN JESUS NAME ribaby: It's PPR my wonderful e-family!
First heard about Express Entry in 2014. I was still a patriotic Nigerian then, believed things would get better. Fast forward to 2017, my friend convinced me to write Ielts and that was the first step of my EE journey. My timeline below: Ist ielts 8.5 7 6.5 7 in LRWS 2nd Ielts 6 9 7.5 7 3rd Ielts 8 7 7 7(let my people go) CRS 453 ECA started August 2018, completed 22/02/18 with MCC. Entered the pool 22/02/18 ITA 26/03/18 AOR 25/04/18 Mep 03/05/18 File transferred to Ottawa 14/05/18( got this from my GCMS notes) Ip2 07/08/18 . PPR 15/08/18
POF: had 40% of funds transferred to my account by my sister didn't do a gift deed just a LOE. *wouldn't advise this as it was noted in my notes to review large sum transfer into my account. Thank God I didn't get an ADR or worse an interview. Please people get a gift deed irrespective of the sum once the money comes in post-ita.
I added my sibling in Canada post-ita because I wasn't certain she would release her document to me but she finally came through. My CRS score was recalculated from 453 to 468.
Single applicant No travel history FSW-Outland. Visa office Ottawa
Special thanks to the wonderful contributors on this thread. I got most of the answers to my questions without even asking, they were just there in black and white. To the newbies, always start from page 1. It will end in PRAISE for us ALL. |

Focused on praying for God's kingdom alone while believing...Matt 6:33.. Pardon my sermon .....but JESUS IS LORD

congrats Newmum. may God perfects your every of your testimony in Jesus name..See you in Canada very soon in Jesus name Newmum0615: Can everyone take a seat please? It’s going to be quite a read.
It’s my turn.
PPR has come to the glory of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost.
It has been a lonnnnng but rewarding experience here on this thread and in this EE journey. I have learnt a lot through months of research and waiting. If you had told me anything about relocating from Nigeria before the second week of August 2017, I would have rolled my eyes at you in apparent indifference. I was never one for living abroad. I love visiting on vacations, buying plenty stuff and coming back home. However, one day at the end of the 2nd week of August 2017, I was in the car with my husband, on our way to work and I remember vividly how I stumbled on Testden while browsing through the internet that morning. I decided to read a little and I just became fascinated with the practice texts and solving the questions. A colleague of mine who moved to Australia last year had been harping on about migrating, but I had no such plans. Hubby and I are doing quite well here, and I am also so close to my parents that the thought of staying so far away from them kept me from taking the leap.
Initially, practicing the IELTS questions was just for fun but I had a light bulb moment one day while still recovering from a surgery that almost cost me my life in a Nigerian hospital. A supposedly ‘big’ hospital. Why not take the test and work towards getting outta here? I asked myself. Hubby didn't agree at first. He is a believer now.
So voila! My first connection to anything Canadian was the IELTS test discovery via Testden. During my recuperation period, I decided that I needed a better life not just for myself but also for my kids. I considered Australia, but there is a disconnect between my first degree and work experience so I didn’t stand a chance. Canada was next on my list. I went on to research on the internet; CIC site and Nairaland popped up first among others. I have always engaged Nairaland as my go-to place for 1st hand practical experience on just about anything. It really needs to be rated among the top internet search engines in the world. We are great like that!
So, lemme not bore you with my long story joor.
Here is my timeline:

2nd GCMS notes (ordered via gcmsbuddy.com): June, 2018 Received one month later
ADR: 2 days ago. Day 179. Height & Color info + Copies of passport biodata pages (as if I didn’t provide it before)
PPR Mail: 1st August 2018. Received around past noon today. I was actually speaking in faith this morning when I was teasing y'all about having correct news . I just had the feeling.
VO: Almighty London
AOR to PPR: A whooping 181 days!
Other details:
POF: I used 3 T-bills certificates, account statement and other sources of funds. Reference letter from bank and letter from hubby giving consent to use his own portion of the funds. Used affidavit and LOE to explain huge inflows from hubby cos they were quite significant (upfront allowance from his employer). I had almost 3 times the amount needed for a family of three, so I had to exclude other sources of funds so that I don’t complicate things with a bulky upload and overwhelm the VO.
Whew! It was a battle getting that file to compress. After a 6-hour battle on submission day, I was finally able to compress it to 3.7mb. Made a mistake on the LOE in calculating total amount, was about to upload the whole file in the POF placeholder when I got a call from hubby that he had observed a mistake from his review. Had to abort mission ( ), correct it, rescan before remerging and uploading.
Employment: Got letter from my previous employer (didn’t use it in the end cos I couldn’t decide on the right NOC for it), added role in personal history. Used the one from my current employer, LOE explaining NOC change, work mails, Tax card, Staff ID card, my call card and that of my line manager. No payslips or SOA. Although I got maximum score for my previous role with current employer, I also declared my one and half year current role, same employer under my work history cos both roles showed on the same reference letter anyway, and so I had to upload the same doc again for this current role (Thanks happytbaby for calling my mind to this one. I might have missed it). Hmm, was so scared throughout the process cos I had used a different job title and NOC before ITA, but apparently, it wasn’t a biggie (thanks to @cochtrane, @einsteino, @happytbaby & @Blackbuddy for allaying my fears on this).
Education: IELTS TRF, ECA report, Degree certificates. ECA process was pretty straightforward, Naija Uni represented well. UK school, of course didn’t disappoint. Hubby’s Education: No ECA done for either degree.
Medicals: Done at Q-Life a day before I submitted (I no dey plan travel soon, so had to shift it as far away as possible). Very seamless process.
Photos: Studio 24. The hard copies we did have expired in the wake of this delay. We have to retake them.
Legal document for name change: Submitted one & the same person affidavit for hubby.
LOE: Submitted Schedule A, old UK Visa refusal notes for hubby and 1, Travel History form, affidavit for one & the same person for hubby and his birth certificate (for different names on his docs).
CSE: I noticed that I had mistakenly swapped documents in the wrong placeholders. Raised CSE and notified them of the error.
GCMS Notes: 1st & 2nd were fine. No issues.
So, as I drop my pen, abi fingers ( ), let me acknowledge and thank everyone for the great job we are all doing here. You guys are amaaaaazing! Agents and consultants are seriously learning compared to us.
As I say thank you to each and every one, lemme send a special shout out to people who were and have been consistent in making this thread a success: @40manlappy (you no answer some of my PMs in the early days of my membership here sha, I still dey beef you-smiley), @Kontagious, @happytbaby (God bless you plenty), @Glitteringstar, our able landlady and data analyst, @cochtrane, @einsteino, @Blackbuddy, @mcstan18 (you snuck up on us and became a formidable “elder” smiley), @Hephgirl (I miss you in our midst.), @Elfmannisback (thank you for being our police here), @ysteph, @Ethelia, @luffyhaki, @Tojued, @ArabianRose @TEECANN, @Threemg, @vcole @smslive2 @agates @ jholarharde and many many others I can’t name here. Una too plenty ooooo. Thank you for all the love and support. You guys made the wait easy to bear.
I kept trusting God and believing that my turn will come one day. Months back, I wrote my goods-to-follow list, made a list of all that we were going to sell off. I even decided on the school my son will go to if we were ever able to get a house within the boundary of the school board. I have researched and researched, now it feels like I already live in Canada (except for the cold. ). I appreciate the Planning for Canada session I was privileged to attend. It’s a pity that the opportunity may end soon. It really helped with my planning.
I appreciate you all for all the times you wished that this day would come sooner. Every time I saw a post praying for my PPR, I would pray and ask God to answer the prayer. May God Almighty, the One who is able to do exceedingly, abundantly, above all that we can ever think, ask or even imagine make our ways prosperous and grant us all fulfilled lives in Canada.
We shall meet in Canada one day. One day soon.
Excuse my dramatic post. I wasn’t going to type all these, but you guys have waited for this day, so I didn’t want to fall hand. It has been one hell of a wait. I was expecting serious excitement the day this PPR would come, but I am not as excited as I thought I would be. It’s even surprising to me. I think I am even a little afraid, but God has got me. We will all flourish in Canada. It's a must!
PS: To all our newbies, please take time out to read and understand this process. When you take offense at people who ask you to read more, it gives the impression that people that did exactly that are foolish. Imagine that no one took out time to study the process, who would you have confidence to ask for guidance? Please read, read and read. It can be overwhelming, I know, but the benefits surmount every stress you might encounter in figuring where and how to start. To access even the most basic of services in our Maple Leaf country, you would need to read and understand your rights and entitlements as a PR, T&Cs of certain services and all. Why not start now and imbibe that behavior?
…Off to continue dancing! See you guys lerra. |

You are such a great writer. i guess your IELTS would only attest to that. I love your story, its so inspiring and i tap into your grace for my family and I. Hoping to see soon in Canada. Thanks a lot and God bless you. deni83: Hello everyone, been silently following and learning from this thread and would like to share my landing story ( hoping it would help someone else):
PPR was gotten in March and we searched for flights through skyscanner.net, We booked our flight in May for a family of four going to Toronto in July via Egypt airways (it costed about 1m plus). We initially wanted to go for Emirates but the 600k price difference was thought to be better spent on cargoing foodstuff (to avoid Egypt air wahala) and for the kids to do some summer camp outings with their cousins in Toronto. We cargoed the food items and some other personal effects the day before the trip(82kg for N115k,... for those who intend to cargo it makes more sense if you have 100kg or more in weight)
Also, after much back and forth, we finally decided to split our full POF between my husband and I and carry cash to Toronto. We changed our monies to 100USD bills and they were very handy to carry with our carry ons. We had not issue with safety or harassments at the airports.
Day of departure: Got to the airport around 11am on Friday (Lagos traffic), had a smooth check-in (we had weighed our 8 baggages at home before leaving and our hand luggages were also pretty light). Had meetups at the airport with family and friends but we couldn't hang out for long... took a lot of pics though. Went to the boarding area, and we were asked to identify our luggage before sitting down to wait to board. Boarded plane in time. Flight to Cairo was on a small plane, no personal IFE, but food was okay and the kids (6 and 4yrs) slept most of the way. Landed in Cairo after about 6hrs and had a 5 hr wait,... which the kids spent running around. We got a bite to eat (I could pay in dollars at the airport) and finally the boarding process began, with only one really slow officer trying painstakingly to match the faces of passengers to their passport photos...(lol)ridiculous. finally someone joined him and the queue was a lot faster. From the number of people queued up to board, one could tell that the plane would be a much bigger one and it was.
The 12hr flight was pretty comfortable with personal IFE, okay feeding and darkened cabins to help get used to the timezone change and we all got to sleep. The cabin crew weren't the friendliest but they were helpful and the pilot had the softest takeoff and landing I had ever experienced! We landed Toronto around 7.50am Saturday, did the expected check ins and landing procedures. There practically wasn't any queue at the time we landed so our wait wasn't tedious and we got a cheerful "welcome to Canada you are now Permanent Residents of Canada". However, because we had goods to follow, we had to go to customs to prep for them. After all the waka, we finally went out to meet our expectant relatives who had come to receive us with 2 cars. We did the 30mins drive to Milton, where they reside, ate ,gisted , went out for some grocery shopping and finally got to sleep around 7pm.
Been up and about town since Monday getting our bank accounts opened (we did a joint account in Scotia with separate credit cards, for now), gotten our SINs, got a mobile sim-freedom ( on my Samsung S7 double sim that I had brought from Naija) just for me for now though... my husband just intends to do a soft landing. Found out the Halton district has new program for IMGs,... so we're hoping that works for us and we're also prepping for driving tests (having a car is not a luxury in a small town like Milton). The kids have started summer camp at a church with their cousins and are having a blast and that also frees our days for us to do waka.
Canadians have been very helpful and Milton in particular is very family oriented with lots of public and low cost programs available to engage the kids this summer. I will try to update as I see needful, but I can say that if you have a family and you are looking to save some money Egypt air isn't a bad option. |
