I got married about 4 years ago to a lady i courted for about 2 yrs. since then we’ve not had a child, and it has naturally become a source of worry as my parents have not hidden their concern at all.

Now, as a born again christian, I believe in totality that children come from God and he alone gives at his time, but I also know that the bible commands us to ask, seek and knock and that he that asks, receives. But my frustration in this whole thing is the wife I married.

Firstly, for strange reasons, ten months after marrying her, I lost my job of 12yrs, and since then I’ve been struggling to make ends meet. I must thank God for his goodness and mercies all the way. At least there has been no reason to beg anyone.

Secondly, she has strangely refused to support any effort I try to make for progress. She sees things differently with no better alternative to bring on the table and each time I go ahead, she wants it to fail. she’s a graduate who has also refused to do anything for flimsy reasons, not liking a business type, lack of interest with her certificate, not even to teach as an educationist. And for these reasons, we have remained almost always at loggerheads.

Thirdly, in an effort to find solution to our childlessness, she has frustrated every bit of the attempts. She has refused us exhausting medical options insisting that the problem is spiritual. And on the spiritual options, she has been half- heartedly involved. My parents invited us for prayers with a man of God,we got there on my insistence at least to honour them and she ended up embarrassing everyone including my parents as she vehemently refused to stay back for prayers as advised by the Man, and even accusing me of ganging up with them! That was Oct last year. Even if she didn’t believe the man as she claimed, i thought she should have been polite and respectful about it..

Needless to say, my parents have been hurt with her actions since then and wish I can just divorce her. Most frustrating for me is that presently, I’m observing a month long fasting and prayer period.

Even though she claims to be fasting and praying too, she has refused to go with me for prayers in Church for once. Please advice me on what to do as various thoughts keep running through my mind…

I am still very young and i think letting a woman who’s mindset is far below my ambitions will be doing harm to my future. my friend snd this to me. help him

M. Gary Neuman, a marriage counselor carried out a survey by speaking with 200 cheating men and a very striking discovery was made about cheating husbands. The findings showed the following;

48% of the 200 cheating men confirmed that the primary reason they cheated on their wives is emotional dissatisfaction.
77% of the cheating men revealed having a good friend who cheated.
66% reported feeling guilty while having an affair.
40% of the total number agreed that they met the other lady at work.
12% only, admitted that their wives were less physically attractive than their mistress.

Men have emotions too although a lot of women erroneously believe that men are very hardened people. In my last blog post, I explained the fact that Parents have important roles in the life of a child of which one of such major roles include providing direction and guidelines to enable the child grow without having to make too many mistakes in life. Marriage is also part of it but it is also very important to understand that the quality of guidance would be based on the quality of knowledge such parent has. This means that if a mother has a very bad knowledge about marriage may be due to bad experience, she could easily pass this same wrong knowledge to his/her child as the case may be. The same goes to a father with a bad experience in marriage.

5 advice from parents and how they could destroy your marriage

1. “All men (women) are cheats, that was how your father (mother) kept cheating on me”

The intent of this advice is to cause the person being advised to be very alert to whatsoever traits of cheating that could come up in the partner in the cause of the marriage. This advice gradually causes trust to die in a marriage because someone is expecting his/her partner to cheat someday. I have come to understand that in life, you will have whatever you expect sooner or later. So once such advice has prepared your heart, don’t be surprise when you start observing the signs your parents told you. No two marriages are the same, the fact that your father cheated on your mother does not mean that your husband will cheat on you and vice versa. You may never know what transpired and led to the bad advice considering the fact that the person giving you the advice may not tell you his/her own faults that contributed to causing the other person to cheat.

My advice: Get all the details from your parents, decide that your marriage will not be like that of your parents and do your part to the best of your knowledge. Leave the rest to God (that is if you believe in God).

This is another funny one, but I have heard some unmarried working class ladies say it even though their ages are running quite out.
I have heard a father advise a son that it is dangerous to allow your wife know what you earn because she could know your worth and finally use it against you. I was surprised because such advice is common among marriages not built on trust. I have examined this advice closely and I have seen it in men with inferiority complex for a working class woman/wife, husbands who think their wives would start demanding more than its’ necessary, and then in working class wives who feel their husband could start demanding more from them financially. Transparency is very important to a lasting relationship.

My advice: Study your partner to know how much he/she could carry. If he/she can’t keep secret, mummy’s boy or daddy’s girl, wasteful and extremely materialistic, then keeping quiet may be the best option. But if you have a great partner, then total transparency would be the greatest gift you will give yourself (your marriage).

really you're on track. most annoyingly many women hardly accept being corrected! they feel they're sure about what they're up to and won't fail...reverse the situation and see how they will howl at their hubby for engaging in the same thing they felt they could handle!
pride and ego on both sides of the divide does not allow true communication between couples!
