Because superman was fighting zod (one entity) while the avengers were fighting Loki and his army ( many entities)

Superman had multiple opportunities to carry zod to a safe location e.g when he was on his knees crying, when they was both inside the plane superman destroyed.

In case you forgot, Zod made it a point he'll destroy all what Supes stand for and destroy what he loves most— which is Metropolis. After that Clark would be more accepting to his kinsmen when there are no humans to love or protect.

bros, supes didn't go wrecking the place. He tried hard to avoid bringing the fight in populated places. The krypt0nians didn't care. Besides, supes just got to test his full strength that day. It was his first fight. He didn't even kn0w what he was doing. It was lois that even told him he could use a phant0m z0ne. So he was out of opti0ns. He tried to reas0n with zod but zod said no. Go watch it again.

DC movies are too cringe-like for me, both their series (Except WatchMen), I enjoy only their animations, and sense of humor in their movies looks forced
