All the ambassadors have recorded monumental successes in their respective fields. Tuface Idibia is widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s most popular musicians and has received numerous awards including Headies, KORA, MOBO, Channel O Music Awards and MAMAs. He is also engaged in a number of CSR activities as a celebrity ambassador.

IK Osakioduwa, an accomplished On-Air Presenter is a six-time host of the celebrated reality TV show, Big Brother Africa and has been rated among the top three most influential young people in Nigeria. He was also recognized by the Future Awards as the ‘Best On-Air Personality.’

Patoranking, the reggae dancehall singer won the coveted Next Rated Award at the 2014 Headies Awards while just recently, he was named the Best African Act at the 2015 Ghana Music Awards.

Renowned, on-the-rise comedian, Akpororo, is regarded as someone with very strong work ethic and his passion for comedy has earned him so many accolades. He also sponsors a football competition as a way of supporting talented youths in his community.

If Jaden Smith’s not the best prom date ever, then he’s definitely one of the most stylish.

A couple of weeks ago, the 16-year-old son of Will and Jada got all decked out in his white Batman suit to escort Mecca Kalani (a.k.a. Crystal Mec) to the year-end dance.

He made the prom scene once again on Friday when he took Amandla Stenberg, who played Rue in The Hunger Games, to her high school prom. (This guy gets around, eh?)

Of course, Stenberg took to Instagram to share a few shots from her big night. “Here’s to highschool,” she wrote alongside the above pic of her and her date in their party attire.

While Jaden opted to leave his superhero costume hanging in the closet this time around, he wore an equally unique outfit to prom no. 2.

Smith likes to experiment with “girl clothes,” so it wasn’t all that surprising that he showed up in a black-and-white dress, skinny black pants, and a black blazer for the occasion.

He accessorized with a fingerless white-and-gold glove and pair of sneakers. The only traditional thing about the After Earth star’s look was his boutonniere. Amandla simply captioned a shot she posted of Jaden sniffing his white rose, “Gentleman.”


Jaden certainly made a fashion statement, but Amandla had the prettier prom dress. The 16-year-old actress looked beautiful in a metallic floor-length halter gown, which she topped off with long silver braids and a gold nose ring

As for the status of Jaden and Amandla’s relationship — we’re guessing they’re just friends — they make a cute couple, no?

Two criminals, Banji Adedayo(40) and Tope Daramola (45) who escaped prison during the Ekiti-state jail break in December 2014 have been re-arrested by the Ondo state police command for armed robbery. Parading the men alongside other criminals before newsmen today, the Ondo state police Commissioner, Isaac Eke, said the suspects, after escaping from prison, joined a five man armed robbery gang that have been terrorizing Akure since March this year. They were apprehended after they robbed one Mr. Remidayo Komolafe of his Toyota Sienna Bus with Reg. No. KJA 790 CH, valued at N1.6 million on Ondo Road in Akure. They also forcefully collected five mobile phones from the victim, valued at N200,000 as well as other possessions. “Upon police interrogation [the men] confessed to the crime and other robbery cases, including an Ekiti State bank robbery, and both were inmates who escaped from Ekiti jailbreak,” he said.

Also paraded are criminals who committed other crimes.

Wiz Khalifa had a run in with a Las Vegas police officer on the red carpet of the 2015 Billboard Music Awards, a police officer approached Wiz and the confrontation was captured by a photographer.

The perpetually stoned Wiz Khalifa nearly had his night ruined at the Billboard Music Awards by a Las Vegas police officer. Apparently Wiz sparked up on the red carpet and was unaware of a cop in the immediate vicinity. Photographer Jeff Kravitz captured the moment and took to Facebook to share the story of the angry cop telling the rapper, “keep that shit off his carpet or he’d have to arrest him.”

Khalifa acknowledged his run in with the cop with a post on Instagram.

The day has finally come for Smith to undergo vocal surgery and in an effort to keep fans in the loop, and ease his nerves, the Grammy winner has been posting a series of Instagrams from his hospital bed.

The "Stay With Me" crooner shared one photo of himself—which he aptly dubbed a "hospital selfie"—looking ready for the procedure ahead and giving the camera a peace sign.

And in a prior pic, Smith posted a snapshot of Ariel from The Little Mermaid and wrote, "About to have operation. This is me today…"

Earlier this week, the Brit explained the recovery process for the operation, saying, "Enjoying my last day of speaking. After today no speaking for three weeks. So if you see me on the streets sorry if you think I'm a dickhead and can't say hello. Also gonna be silent for my birthday. Sounds fun aye?"

Smith announced in early May that he was forced to cancel his Australia tour after a "small hemorrhage" was discovered on his vocal cords.

He took to Instagram to give his biggest fans the following update:

"Dear all: I am very upset to announce I have been battling to get my vocal cords better the last 10 days but unfortunately they haven't recovered and I am going to need surgery. I'm so gutted to be missing all the shows and events I was meant to be playing at. The doctors say I will be back in 6-8 weeks and I cannot wait to sing for you all soon."

Even discarded keys and coins can be turned into beautiful art with some creativity and the right sort of know-how. Michael (or Moerkey), an artist in Australia, does exactly that, turning discarded keys and coins into bottles, lampshades and other beautiful recycled metal sculptures.

“When I was supposed to be cleaning out my shed, I came across some old copper pipe saved from a previous renovation. I cut it up into rings and started making it into spheres,” Michael explains on his Etsy shop. “The first ones were a bit rough but once I worked out the technique I got creative.”

“I’m a bit of a hoarder and searched around for all those old keys and copper wire, that were no longer needed, and got creative with them as well,” he added.

A Miami man, Daniel Sion Palmer, 26, man was recently arrested after authorities say he robbed a man at gunpoint, took off running and returned moments later to complain that the stolen goods were fake.

The incident happened about 3 a.m. when Palmer allegedly pointed a gun at a man from New York, grabbed his gold chain and then took off.
Police say Palmer apparently was not satisfied with his freshly stolen jewelry, and so he approached the victim again a block away, just so he could tell him the jewelry was fake.

“That was a brazen move and because of that he was able to be apprehended,” Det. Ernesto Rodriguez said.

The victim was able to flag police down and point out Palmer, who was now driving a Mercedes. Investigators say he sped disregarding the police officers who had turned on their lights and sirens, he was eventually apprehended and arrested.

He has since been charged with armed robbery, fleeing and eluding, reckless driving and possession of a suspended license, police said.

The 25-year-old is a primary school teacher and sells watermelon during weekends and when the school is on vacation. He is saving up to buy an oven and wants to one day own his own snack bar.

Five months after the shooting of her 12-year-old son Tamir Rice, Samaria Rice is still reeling from his tragic shooting. The City of Cleveland has requested that the grieving mother put her civil suit on hold until the official investigation of Tamir’s death is complete. And her reply has revealed that she is now living in a homeless shelter. Rice made the decision to move from the family’s home after being unable to live near the site where Tamir was killed.

“The incident has shattered the life of the Rice family,” the court filing stated, according to The Washington Post. “In particular, Samaria Rice, Tamir Rice’s mother, has since been forced to move to a homeless shelter because she could no longer live next door to the killing field of her son.”The motion also stated that the Rice family has been unable to lay Tamir to rest, as the ongoing investigation may require further viewing of his body.

“Plaintiffs are incurring expense daily and are unsure if they can finally rest Tamir Rice due to the pending investigation,” the motion filed by the family reads. “A stay would exacerbate this expense and emotional distress.”

Tamir was shot on Nov. 22 by 26-year-old Officer Timothy Loehmann after his BB gun was mistaken for a real weapon. Upon the officer demanding he put his hands up, Tamir instead reached for the toy, and was killed by two shots fired by Loehmann. The Rice family attorney, Benjamin Crump, noted that no charges have been brought on anyone involved.

“We come here to Cleveland, Ohio, brothers and sisters, where we had video capture the whole entire episode of what happened to claim this baby’s life. And yet, after five months and counting, no one has been charged, no one has been held accountable for the death of 12-year-old Tamir Rice.”

GoFundMe accounts have made headlines in recent months for the questionable nature of fundraising campaigns that have been started through the site. Next up, is the Baltimore Police Union, who attempted to start a page to raise money for the six officers charged in the death of Freddie Gray. The page however, was shut down within 40 minutes.

The page violated a policy on GoFundMe that prohibits the start of campaigns “in defense of formal charges or claims of heinous crimes, violent, hateful, sexual or discriminatory acts.” The organization took to Twitter to inform their followers that they would seek out another form of fundraising:

Before the age was deleted, it featured a statement to potential donors, noting that the money would be used to help the six officers with legal fees after having been “wrongly charged:”

“The Baltimore City Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge #3 has been overwhelmed with the enormous generosity of people from around the world. We have received many requests to open an online account that will accept monetary donations for the 6 officers who have been wrongly charged in the death of Freddie Gray. All monies collected will be used to assist our officers with their living expenses during their unpaid suspension. as well as to help defray their legal expenses.We thank you, in advance, for your continued support.”

The union is now seeking a new way to collect funds.

‘Eeeyyysss, hold it!
Before some o’ y’all begin to talk your dirty trash back at me, lemme be clear that not all the photos represented have a thing to do with this piece. I just loved particular copies too much that I couldn’t but stitch them up in a grid. Then again, they must have slept or stank at some point before the second coming of the messiah. So really, mas que nada!

I watched the African remake version of “We Are The World” and everytime I saw a Nigerian, with Tiwa Savage, Praiz and Yemi Alade being the exceptions… oh Emma Nyra too, I had to ask myself ‘but why?’
But why, Sean Tizzle why?
But why, Banky W… and why the bazinga, Kcee why?
Even to the assemblage of what I’ve chosen to term the M.U.M.U pack – not excluding D’Prince, Patoranking, Mosa, Iceberg, Di’Ja and Reekado of course (by the way congrats on your convocation!) I asked why, why, why? While these one were probably too excited to have featured in one of the world’s most classic tunes, the other Africans usurped the privilege and showed off their impressive music skill. It pained me so badly that out of the mighty army of Nigerians that stormed the recording, we had to be properly schooled by the South Africans who clearly possess better vocal skill and musical appreciation than we do.

Our faith and strength now lies in the ingenuity of the producer to mask our vocals with computer-aided assists and studio edits. These guys can’t sound nearly as nice and melodious as they do in their studio records and they find it difficult replicating the stunts they managed to pull off in it. As if it isn’t shameful enough that we pride ourselves on empty nothings, we brag loud about things that might only happen should we wake up one beautiful morning to purple skies. Has anyone wondered why our international features are restricted to rappers alone? Do we think we can stand compete with well-bred, seasoned vocalists? That’s even reaching for the stars. Let me come down to our level. Can our vocalists stand a healthy compete with themselves not to now talk of the Grammy winning kind? Is it by singing applaudise and sampulu that we think we’re going to nail a spot on the Grammy’s list? Each and every one of us shares blame in this menace that has become our industry – from the dictating folk at the top, to the players and right down to the fans. Let’s face it, our industry may have grown in terms of technology and software, but it’s people haven’t evolved. We’ve only succeeded in shifting base from one level of low to a new level in low.

It’s become common place for our artistes to claim certain levels of versatility because they thought well to revamp a stale craft. Take Banky W for example, since he started this his I’m not even a rapper something, he has eroded the true essence of his powerful tenor and scampers now for the lower octaves like Mariah Carey (the great) sometime did. At least he can actually sing unlike Sean Tizzle who I’d always been scared to hear what his raw vocals would sound like when D’Tunes isn’t saving it’s ugliness with all the power in auto-tune. So you can imagine my villainous excitement when I learned that he too can croak like a dirty frog after I saw him in that video. Very scathing stuff. Worse off, these are the things that our generation up-comers center their beliefs on. That if it isn’t done this way or like this, then one wouldn’t make it. I wouldn’t hesitate to point accusing fingers at talent scouting platforms; those who have swallowed their vision for birthing new actual stars and short-changed that for admission of a bunch of wannabes and conformists. Talent hunts should be on a mission to seek out the misfits, the rebels, the radicals who are then groomed vigorously through a becoming process but instead, they’re after pretty faces, guys with nicely curled or frisked hair and girls that look good even in cheap makeup.

Can we be liberal enough to draw the line between hate and honesty? If we can, then we’d have begun the first step to solving one of our people’s greatest problems – that is heralding and patronizing mediocrity! So when I say Kcee needs to pump all that money into a men’s bespoke tailoring label instead of music, nobody would say I’m hating. And when I address issues like Burna Boy, Lil Kesh, Iyanya, D’Banj, Ice Prince and Wande Coal, people would reason first rather than cast pebble stones that date far back as my ancestral heritage and all the way back to my generation unborn. We need to open the eyes of our minds and see that we’re a people full of nothing but stinking shxt. The men who talk a big game have been neck deep in this dung for long and the women have been sleeping on top of it. We’ve slumbered too long and it’s time to wake up. Emma Nyra needs to wake up and move past Ubi Franklin in his role play of ‘the victim’ because those millions still won’t bear him (or her) the desired fruits. Same thing for Eva, it mortifies me that I haven’t got her totally figured out but she needs to stop sleeping and get her shxt in check. Times are changing fast. We have the likes of Yemi Alade already taking lead while some Simi chic is lowkey scheming for a takeover. It’s in the same vein that the Mya K’s, the Kolly Dee’s and Barry Mayne’s have strongly opposed to back benching or playing second fiddle because they came to an early realization that they are to make the industry, not the other way round.

Nigeria is supposedly the bedrock of promotional music in Africa, so how is it that we’re the ones doing the major undertaking when it comes to actual music affairs? Is chuking me bad bad, iNo teh yhu lie! You shudda seen that video, how those other guys (I mean the South Africans) washed our hands clean and wiped them dry the way and manner they displayed their talents. This our commercial style of music does nothing to advancing the creativity of our music intellect – either by prowess or skill. It’s like getting trapped in a prolonged holocaust and for us, success is measured by who attains a newer feat in defining the peak of mediocrity. The pioneers of this new music movement sought to dodge a curve ball but ended up taking a wrong turn and have remained on a steady miss thence on. The nature of our die hard spirit and hustler ambition has managed to put the name of a few on the map but let us not forget that the world is like a jukebox, the music never stops. Although it may seem everyone is singing along, the hard questions being what exactly is playing and who is singing to what?
