Weedtaker, you are obessed with playing only creative players. Yes, they won 6 matches last season but they also lost us three straight matches the first time since 20 to 30 years. Mata, Herrera, Blind, Young were all there when Chelsea beat us 1-0.
Everton beat us 3-0
West Brom beat us 1-0 at Old Trafford.
Even Fellaini was there.

I think the major thing that won us those matches was a perfect structure from defence to attack and not necessarily the combination of many creative players. As soon as injuries set in, the creative players couldn't hold.

Some of these players were there when we drew 0-0 at Cambridge.

Anderson of 2008 would have made fun of that midfield yesterday with amount of space left wide open to penetrate with bursting forward runs. It's surprising a young man like Sneiderlin cannot travel with the ball even 20 yards. We need variety of players for different occasions not only those who can pass.

Even Ashley Young would have utilized those spaces, not to talk of Valencia. Imagine, Smalling became our Ramirez yesterday. Except he's limited once he gets close to the final third.

I think Mata and Herrera have lined up behind a striker this season. But Herrera is injured now.
It looks to me Mata plays better if Val is the one behind him.

Who has a return date for our injured players?

Carrick is neither and he does it besides Herrera helps in defending. It should be not against every team like top teams or attacking ones but against those that sit back.

We don't have the attack for 433, where are the 3 forward players?

Last season we went on winning streak twice. One in December and another towards the end of the season. The second one was like this:

Val - Smalling - Jones - Blind

Mata - Herrera - Fellaini - Young

he's less mobile at this his age, not attacking and needs a mobile box to box pair not Schneiderlin.

Pairing him with Herrera might be okay where he's plays as the holding/defensive midfielder and Herrera as the box to box or Schneiderlin/Herrera.

Don't think Fellaini for Bastian was wrong since Bastian was hanging unto the ball. This is where Carrick is better, though slow but more creative with his passes.

I'm even surprised we are complaining of lack of goals when we're using 2 DM and expecting them to be creative.

The cut back pass was not the only contribution, some other good moves made by Rooney were stalled in the feet of Lingard and Memphis their poor decision making and amateurish football.

Martial efforts were poor. He used to spread his body and then force the keeper to step while he picks the opposite angle. This time he shot straight with little confidence like the occasion was bigger than him. His decision to pass twice or thrice instead of shooting were unlike him.

It's not always good to criticize your best player so as not to kill his confidence but your analysis was wrong.

Rooney did everything for the lads, particularly in the first half. His cut back to Martial was a big chance but I don't know why he decided to pass to Lingard instead of shooting. He was guilty of that three times. Passing instead of shooting and he is our best bet to get a goal. The Martial who won EPL player of the month in September would have gotten two goals last night.

Lingard was the one who missed clearest chances. Sometimes these things happen, but for you to exonerate the culprits and put the blame on another is weird. Gaal blamed these two guys for missed chances so don't shift blame.
