Pls, i have been trying to post my long bs but i get banned for 24 hrs each time. What could i be doing wrong? Is it because it's too long?

Before or whenever I'm not pregnant, I do clean it with spirit when it itches but whenever I am, I clean with cotton wool and olive oil or coconut oil.
Your skin is dry and flaky, it doesn't need alcohol to make it drier. Use natural oils on it. You can do it every single day.


Yes the dirt is normal but not after everyday cleaning, maybe a once in a week cleaning, its dead skin cells, sweats and skin oil.

Ok Mama, i understand now. I just hope the spirit and steroid i have been using would not have any negative effect.

I would suggest you stop both the spirit and hydrocortisone. For the cream I would suggest you seek another doctors opinion as it is a steroid cream and may need to be avoided while pregnant or breast feeding.

During these periods your nipples are generally more sensitive and the cream may be doing more harm than good. Depending on the strength you are using.

Clean n.pple using a warm hand towel when bathing. You could also use a sugar scrub to gently remove dead skin cells. After your normal bath. Simply mix granulated sugar and olive/coconut oil. Just use your eye to gauge it, put it on your damp hand towel and rub in a circular motion. Then rinse off.

Get some lanolin based n.pple cream such as lansinoh and use on it. You can also use olive oil or coconut oil as well. Apply generously at least 2 -3 times a day.

You can put on a breast pad so that your bra and clothes do not rub off on he ni.pples if they are sensitive. It will also keep the oils or lanolin on for longer.
If you are going to bed, sleep with a bra if you can , you can dip a cotton pad in the oils and pop into your breast pad.

You may just be suffering from dry skin. Pregnancy does weird s#!+ to people.

I think it’s dead/ flaky skin that is coming off when you clean it and since the areola is really dark, the flaky skin coming off would be dark/ dirty looking in color.
As other mamas have said, stop the methylated spirit as it will just dry off the skin there and make the flaking worse.

My teammate,I think it is like that especially FTM (my thinking 0), becos mine was like that whenever I clean it during my first pregnancy but with this pregnancy, it isn't like that.
Please stop using Spirit, it drys ur skin and makes it peel.
Use Olive oil instead.

I had same in my first pregnancy, in fact na tooth brush I dey take scrub am and I will end up having sores. I keep wondering why it"s like that. And the areola will be so black. I later left it and it peeled of completely immediately I gave birth. I found out later that olive oil is the best cleanser for it.

So far so good now, I haven't experience it with my present preg.

so, use olive oil for now, but it will peel after giving birth. So, don't worry.

My suggestion,stop using spirit rather rinse your breast with clean water during your daily bath., you can try lansinoh nipple cream.

wemmy017, I'll advise you stop with the spirit for now cos first of all, spirit will always bring out dirt anywhere you use it on. No matter how clean, there must be dirty once spirit is involved. Second of all, it dries the skin and makes it look really soft, almost like it wee cut. Why don't you use olive oil instead and let's see how it goes. On a second thought, go back to your clinic just to be sure... Self treatment during pregnancy can be dangerous. Cheers

At first I had no idea because I dont have sour nipples.
But I just said let me experiment
So I used spirit to clean mine just now. It came out the same way. So am guessing its normal.

Good morning Mamas, I've come with my QUESTION again...pls
I once complained about my itching and peeling areola which led to sore. I visited the doctor and was given hydrocorrisone cream to apply for 2 wks. A friend here also asked me to always clean it with methylated spirit. After a while everything came to normal. I stopped the whole process for a while and started noticing some flaking again and signs that the sore was going to return. That was how i resumed my routine again. Every morning, i clean with spirit and apply the cortisone. But everytime i clean, the cotton wool will be very dirty as shown.

My question is, why is it always dirty or is that how our areola is? I don't mind any info on breast hygiene. because i don't think i can be cleaning with spirit after birth.

You will be fine, just continue taking ur prenatal drugs and all will be well.
And Nightingale is disposable hospital delivery mat. (like that brown mat but this one soft and is disposable).

Dear mama o don't know of this will be useful, after giving birth I couldn't eat, and the doctor treated me for malaria and asked me to take rebena for appetite. You can try rebena might work.

your LO is fine, but please for more strength, u need to eat well and and also make sure the little u r eating is well balanced for baby to get enough nutrients. You are almost through and God will make it easy for u.

Amen. Thanks Mama. I'm really trying. My concern was borne out of the balanced diet. I don't know if the little i take is balanced esp with my aversion for fruits. Sometimes, i can eat rice three times a day for two days with nothing in between and then i wont be able to stand it afterwards. I know it will end in praise for us. God bless you ma
