Politics / Re: Social Security Scheme For The Unemployed Coming To Nigeria: Praise God by wendyc: 5:40pm On Apr 22, 2009
Lady --it is not up to the government on job creation, it is up to the ppl. the govt can only create govt jobs, and not everyone can do that. the ppl need to own businesses and to do so they need to have a good business plan and stop being greedy

lady i totally disagree with this. reason is that we all can not own our businesses, that's just not the way to go. i think this is one mentality that we as Nigerians have to get a grip of. not everyone is good or a great sales person. some are good in sports, some counseling, some politics.
govt can and do create jobs. yes govt jobs, not everyone should be in the private sector, if everyone is in the private sector, there is so much competition and no value for the job.
if the govt provides these jobs, it gives so many people on the road off. at least some form of employment.
it is in Nigeria that you see a teacher working in the bank, a criminologist working as a banker and not in their field. it's like that in some developed places, but the thing about it if you do the research it that they are at the position as a steeping stone to get somewhere.
Politics / Re: Social Security Scheme For The Unemployed Coming To Nigeria: Praise God by wendyc: 9:37pm On Apr 21, 2009
many people have made so many contributions on here. first and foremost, there has to be a system put in place. A record system, most importantly a goverment assigned number that will show and identify who is who. now lets take this one step at a time.

if we decide to get a number, this can not be duplicated, yes it's like social security number and it has to be enforced. if you don't have this number, you can't do anything or much really. to open a bank account, to purchase anything major. now this is not going to be easy or perfect, it will have it's ups and downs as it is in developed countries too. once you have a number assigned to you, there will be an administration or office to monitor this thus creating employment. not everyone needs to be working at the bank or so. this will get people (graduates off the raod too).
when this as gotten to a statisfactory level, each person will be taxed. from property, to income. the way the income can be appropriately taxed is for companies to remover before you get paid. if you do own your business, lets say mam put down the raod, she must constantly pay taxes, 1. the shop space, & two, she must pay for income- if she manipulates this, a certain amount may be levied accross the bother in that area. to do business then you have to agree to it. once a track record is generated on income, property taxes, these will be the only ones to have access to the social security benefits, and not opened to all. it's not discrimination becos you don't get what you didn't contribute too.

there can also be a limit on how much is paid out. or a system where what you put in, is what you get. depends. it's doable, but so many things have to go in place, and when they say free, that's just making things worse becos the money has to come from somewhere. this also will have to be not a state thing, but country wide data sharing, database. so if one collects in this state, he/she can't go claim somewhere else. i i'll love to talk to some of these people oneday, and just take them throu some basic baby steps b4 going out and over.
Religion / Re: Will Mad People Go To Heaven Or Hell? by wendyc: 6:13pm On Apr 20, 2009
To Ascony, i'm sensing that you don't believe in GOD, or that you feel GOD is injust and doesn't care about ones being, if they go mad with the example here. i'm not being judgemental but olny sharing my faith and believe here and i hope one or two people get it.

Will a mother or father watch his/her child going down a path that is distruction fold their hands? they will do everything they can to make sure that they teach him to listen so he does not go that way, and after all thier loving efforts, if the child insist- all dey can do is just watch and hope that one day, things will change,  a change of heart. a sober moment.
God did not create us to come here and then make us go mad. We all were created for his pleasures. it's not pleasing watching a mad person. some go mad becos of sins, some drugs, some wickedness around them,
GOD is not just folding his arms watching this people, he cares of us all and that is one thing that we should all know.
someone gave an example of the king in the bible that was turned mad by GOD, becos of his actions, not only  was he mad for 7 years, NO ONE TOOK HIS POSITION DURING THAT TIME, as he was healed, he went back to being a king. He made him realize that it's not by his power, but GOD is that one that makes things happen. we do have our own part to do and if we misuse them, take drugs and all this stuff we don't blame GOD for that. even with it, he still cares, becos he sends help to us all.
Family / Re: My Husband And I Tested Hiv Positive Please Help by wendyc: 8:00pm On Apr 08, 2009
Hi,
i just want to add to what most have said here, taking your life is never an answer to the problem, instead you mock the reasons JESUS died on the cross. He came to this world and took aware our sicknesses and disease, including this, so that you and i will not have them. somehow you contacted it, but you have to know and BELIEVE in your heart that this is not your portion. Pray over it and if you want to fast do it, together join your faith and your husbands together and both of yuo should agree that you have overcome this hiv by JESUS. It's your faith that will get you over this, just believe in your prayers and every prayer that has be made on your behalf. BUT YOU MUST HAVE FAITH for it to work.
there is still a step after having faith, start acting that way, and reject every nagative confession after your prayers, and all that you say unto yourself believing and having faith is what GOD will do for u.
Travel / Re: REASONS FOR NIGERIANS TO STAY IN NIGERIA AND ARE WE REALLY GOOD PEOPLE? by wendyc: 7:52pm On Apr 07, 2009
we have to realize on thing, Nigeria is too over populated for us all to be there, take for example, in London every street and corner there is a Nigerian there, and so it is all around the world. with all of these people out, Nigeria is still over populated, so some will have to go while some stay.

Now here is the  thing, the people that left are "suppose to go with the intension of gaining knowledge to come back to use to develop the country, thus allowing for the ones coming up to go and learn for thier time too.it's not just for people to go out of the country and sit and not make a good thing out of it. For those that are thinking about leaving Naija, there has to be reasons beyond just the mentality most have that i need to travel to make it- No. You have to have determination of making it "the legal way, staying focused and gaining knowledge to better where you left in the hope of helping others that are there.

Naija is a place of opportunity believe it or not, the thing is that wealth is not evenly distributed, that is the propblem we are facing. take for example there are many people in politics that have made the sit or position a family thrown, which should not be, if everyone took a turn in becoming a rep. or someing there, then things will change for everyone.
Division of labor is a thing that Naija is also facing right now, look at a banker and see all the work assigned to this person, he/she is the same one that will do the marketing, customer service, meeting cordinator everthing- WHY? when all these can be easily divided thus creating more jobs, wealth for others to enjoy.
Job security is one of the reasons that most want to leave Naija, and if there are jobs i'm sure most will prefer to stay in Naija. Many people abroad will tell you that no matter what, they'll return home, it's harder for some because when they say it, and think how things will flow together, then they stay back and change their mind.

The one thing that i like developed countries for is that they are open to alot of suggestions, from ALL OVER AND EVERYONE. you don't have to be in a party or this, or tht to have a solid idea in the development of your country, they hear voices and concerns, you easily walk to a lobbist and tell them what's on your mind, yes  there may be companies that don't like the idea, maybe it will keep them out of more profit, but you'll still be heard and can always reference that hey- i told you this would work. but unfortunately all of that is not present in Naija, to make a statement or impact or suggestion, you have to know this, have connections and all that.
No matter where you are, as long as GOD has put you there, nothing can hold u back, not even if everyone travels.
Business / Re: Yaba Market Shut Down Yesterday by wendyc: 6:32pm On Apr 06, 2009
Nairalanders,
it's really sad that the market was destroyed the way it is. Lagos, is starting to do some things that it should have done a while ago, and also with much in mind.
Let's look at this from a lot of views, maybe it can help make somethings clear. When you go shopping in Yaba, there is shops here and there, traders on the road and all around, sometimes the place you meet this trader is not where they'll be the next time you go. changing all this i think will work if things are done correctly.
The traders definately need somewhere to do their business, we are ow in the 21th century and not all things sell on the road or in market anymore. THE INTERNET is now a place to do business while you stay at your house. the population in Lagos is too much to fit all these traders. look at it this way, everyone has one or two things to sell, and they all bring it to the streets, these clouds the raod and traffic, theft, crime, child endangerment- child hawking, and all these go on. now not all may be literate enough to conduct business online, this is where educated ones are employed creating jobs for some that can do the work. it's a process and i think that if they realize that this is not just way the govt is sending them out on the streets.i'll think they would have gotten notice of such, and plan ahead for when it comes eventually, they will relocate to this place, or do this for the time being, now it's not easy, believe me, it's not, the long run, it will make some sense if they think of it and how positively affect their sales too.

Family / Re: Is Childbirth Really The Most Painful Thing Or Is It Exaggerated? by wendyc: 10:51pm On Mar 31, 2009
Child birth is not as bad as most has called it. i'm pregnant with my fourth child! yes i said 4!. the first one was LORD HAVE MERCY, i was a few days past my due date and had to be induced, so i spent more time (2days) in the hospital b4 having d baby. with my second, it was like 15 hours, and my third- we barely made it- i had not started filling out paper work or anything b4 she came out. the trick to all this is easy, even though d pain will still be there becos d bible already told us that. pray about it, and then spend more time at home with loved ones if possible or friends around, by d time they start cracking u up with jokes or make u laugh, it will not be that bad. just make sure that the contractions are very close and then head to d hospital, by d time u get there, u r already fully dilated to 10cm. and ready to push. pain medicationis also good, if u do get ephidoral, u'll be like so this is it. it norms ur body from neck down to ur feet and u don't fell anything.
so don't be afraid, it's all worth it by d time u see ur baby
Religion / Re: Another Nigerian Pastor Involved In A Scam (Sunday Adelaja) by wendyc: 7:00pm On Mar 24, 2009
Huxley- When god called him to preach, did god not realise that he was going to go into banking and financial scamming. What sort of god is that if he did not know these things?

He is the same GOD that made you and gave you different chances to be who u r today. The same GOD that has being watching u even when you do somethings that are not good, and still gives you the chance of changing. That is the GOD we serve, if at every error/mistake we make HE wipes us away, do you think anyone of us will be alive right now? In the bible king David was a man after GOD's heart, he did some hurtful things (killed a man due to lust for his wife) but GOD saw his heart and knew him from his begining to the day he died.
Don't judge, what ever you use to judge others, the same measure will He use to judge you. We all don't know the full story, like many people, money has being lost in various ways, be it investing in real estate, stocks or what have you. If he or anyone decides to blame him, i'll think that you need to start from the very top- from the ones that control the market and come down the ladder. When there is famine in the land, it will affect everyone, only the ones that GOD has prepared, or that hold on to him will stand.

Yes, they lost their savings, most did and some are still going to, but the fact of the matter still remains that if he did what they said he did, GOD will surely deal with him in his own way, at his own time, NOT FOR US TO DEAL WITH him.

To all those that just think that Pastors are fakes- or 100% of them are fake, then i'm really sorry u feel that way. when you know the word of the Lord, and learn, meditate on it, you'll be able to discern any thing that is not of the Lord's, and reference the bible when situations arise. if what u hear is contrary to what is being taught, you know that's not what you want to stay with. Please know how you talk about the men/women of GOD, Moses Sister had a lesson when she went on talking about GOD's prophet, she got her reward. Watch your mouth about these people, and don't be rude, stupid or foolish. GOD might be patient, but you don't want to get him MAD!

Romance / Re: My Ex Is Getting Married And It Hurts by wendyc: 9:24pm On Feb 06, 2009
jayflex,
look at it this way, if she was truely urs, u don't have to do anything but pray about it and let go, GOD is d only one dat can comfort if u truely did love her.
if she is ur's she'll come back believe me no matter the marriage or whatever that she may be doing or might have done, as long as u have the right motive and she is truely ur flesh of the flesh. believe me the last thing u want is to marry someone else's woman, it will be a nightmare for u for the rest of ur life. so look at it dis way, in every situation, just thank GOD.

Good luck, and my advice again, pray about anything u plan on doing that is serious and will impact ur destiny.
Business / Jobs That Can Be Created In Naija by wendyc: 10:35pm On Feb 04, 2009
Let's all brainstrom on jobs that we think the FG, or State and local govt, can put in place, creating more employment in the country. this is a very important issue that needs to be addressed in our country.
Business / Re: Business Areas That Need Investment In Nigeria by wendyc: 9:56pm On Feb 03, 2009
investing in the youths, Good idea,
America and other developed country if you all notice spend a lot of money on research! when we have youths and adults or really not minding the age, come together full of intelligence, i tell u, a lot will be learnt. teaching each other is the key.

There is also the area of spots that there should be focus on. Most of the time we only hear when Naija is playing soccer alone, what happened to swimming, and many other spots, that we have talented people for. not just running and all, all of this country spend money on their own citizens to take them to the place they are during sport events, and when they represent the country it's a good thing and image, and in turn an avenue for the family and those involved. Not everyone is a banker, or sales person or so, look at sports, music, and spend on the talented ones to go higher. just another area
Business / Re: Business Areas That Need Investment In Nigeria by wendyc: 9:30pm On Feb 02, 2009
very interesting forum i must say. it's really nice hearing from all around the world on how different people can deposit and contribute to a nation they love. Most Forums if u ask me are usually conducted by younger crowds, (most times) here in Nairaland. it will really be a great thing to see older generations come into this section and see their reflections of how dey have grown with the country.

Nigeria, very lovely country with different types to people. the one thing that we have to understand is for a change to happen to that nation(obviously we all pray for the country which is number one), the attitude and mentality of the people will have to change. once there is a change in that head, it will act accordingly and everything will start to fall in place.

Education- why do we have schools that the teachers don't get paid regularly or underpaid? as with most countries even here in the States, teachers are underpaid BUT there are so many areas where they are compensated, like benefits, also the desire to becoming a teacher has to be there, not just because it's a job you found. Investing in Education at all levels should be a priority for the States, affordable schooling, school loans, grants, scholaships this are things that can help in all levels. U see university school girls going into prostitution just to pay school fees, or dating all dis old men who promise to pay their way thru school, personal choice for some YES, but d rest that have no choice are just hoping to get a break.
Investing in developmental schools, like music schools, art schools, catering schools and so on. it's not necessarily a college or uni, or secondary school, some people are very skillful and will do hand works better than going to read and do assignments and all, not that they are dump, it's just not them or thier calling.

Light- the issues of power there is very pityful, but there is always ways where we can make a difference. The United States itself right now has issues with gas & electric becoming too expensive and working on ways to go solar, wind and other alternatives. We have a lot of students in d school for such, why can't the govt, start to invest in this young ones, invest in research of ways if they so believe that oil is just not going to bring in more money if they power d whole place up. Businesses need this and i think that if the FG taxes EVERYONE according to their tax bracket (and there is no way of forging this) businesses can rely and operate well.

Infrastructure

Why pay one person for a job that 10 people can do? division of labor will even make things go well and fast. the State and FG should award this contracts to companies that are dependable and they should also know and inspect every area from the people dat the company hires to how they plan to pay them. In the States, when it comes to awarding contracts to companies, there are specific rules u as a company have to follow, even though you are your own private company. by the Govt, over looking all this areas, work can go smoothly and actually be done, and not the FG or State giving the contract to a family member and thats d end of what we hear. there should be acountability at all levels.

Helping the poor is very easy, only if the Govt is willing. limit the contracts you award to certain companies, give other minority the chance of doing the work, like having women or new comers do a certian job- AT a minimal payment. no one will want to miss ths opportunity, and if they mess up, they know they can't do this again.

So many things to write hopefully i'll get the chance to actually sit and talk to someone about all this and be able to be heard.

mostly, there has to be a form of strict identification. LONDON HAS NUMBERS THAT MATCHES THE PERSON, U.S HAS SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER THAT REPRESENTS YOU.
Nigeria should have a number that is strictly for that person, not a driver's license number or so but like a number that each and everyone can be accounted for, where only one can be givven to each individual and ANYONE HANDLING THIS TYPE OF WORK WILL HAVE TO GO THROUGH SECURITY CLEARANCE OF SOME SORT. to open a bank account, you'll need it, to work, you'll need it, to apply for a loan, you'll need it, to do anything and everything you'll need, and once d person dies, it's in the State file, and red flags should be everywhere that the person is dead.

All this areas will definately make for some opportunity for employment of some sort.

like i said so much to say,, but will leave it here for now
Events / Re: Is N75,000 Not Too Much For A Wedding Gown? by wendyc: 7:50pm On Jan 23, 2009
depends on the couple to be. If you actually do your research, you can end up with Dresses that are not that much, or there about. you have to consider your finances too, becos dats what you'll fall back on after the wedding. personally my guy was a lot more than that, not because of anything other than where i reside. that's how much it goes for around here for something nice and to look good in.

At damisbridal's we do have alot of wedding dresses that range from 65k and up, and come directly from the States.

Family / Re: Pls Help My Husband Is Compaining About My Weight by wendyc: 6:00pm On Jan 21, 2009
Hello,
i can relate to your question in many ways. i'm married with kids and currently pregnant too. losing weight has being a thing dat i've being trying to do for a while. it's really not dat i eat alot i can tell u dat, it's d choices of food sometimes and stress. as for weight loss during pregnancy u just have to eat healthy things instead of fatty foods. supplement them, and u'll do the baby and urself a lot of good. don't blame ur husband dat much cos if he didn't like u i'll tell u, he wouldn't have told u anything, just keep his mouth quiet. but he did dats a good thing.
now with ur weight, he might also be scared of diseases dat can arise due to being over weight. some people find out dat talking to their doctors help alot becos it can easily pin point some areas in their life dat dey need to focus on, although dieting and working out is it for some, not neccessarily means it's for u. colon cleasening is also a thing dat can help, especially for someone dat has a big stomach, it's cleaning of ur big intestine and all d food that has being hiding in d cells, it flushes away wasted products making u feel lighter and healthier too. so AFTER ur baby u can give it a try and use some natural safe cleansing products or food rich in fiber.

BEFORE ANYONE SKINS ME ALIVE PLEASE READ ABOUT COLON CLEASING TO KNOW ITS BENEFITS, AS IT'S NOT JUST FOR PEOPLE TRYING TO LOSE WEIGHT ALONE. IT'S FOR EVERYONE. every once in a while

Business / Re: NSE Market Downturn: How Have You Been Affected? by wendyc: 6:49pm On Jan 12, 2009
investment is like a 50-50 chance, not guaranteed, in anyway, so it's something dat everyone should be very aware of. it's all about diversifying ur portfolio, if you see dat every bank is making profit and u decide to just go for dat, then it's a pity whoever your agent is, did not do their job well, and should be fired because the first rule in investment is looking out for the client, what is in their best interest.
secondly when u actually do diverse ur portfolio (spread it all around) if oil is not doing well, gold is doing well and so in turn the money u lose from oil will not be as bad becos d return from gold will upset it, so it's a pity dat in Naija, anyone can just turn around and sell stocks to others just because, ,

as for the American market, it affects the whole world in case u don't know, becos, dey are all some worth connected, and that is where u real investment or management company should have experts to actually do research and be liable if possible.
i know here in the States, u are liable to some extent what type of stocks you sell to your customer, and i tell u, it's dat or u lose ur license.
