PoliticsWhat Governor Ademola Adeleke Has Done Differently—and Why Osun Deserves Continu by wesbrit(op): 7:35pm On Feb 01
Since assuming office in 2023, Governor Ademola Adeleke has distinguished his administration through a results-driven approach to governance anchored on prudence, inclusion, and measurable impact. Beyond political rhetoric, the evidence on ground explains why many Osun people see continuity in August 2026 as a logical and necessary choice.

Closing the Infrastructure Gap
One of the most visible achievements of the Adeleke administration is the decisive push to address Osun State’s long-standing infrastructure deficit. Through extensive road rehabilitation and new constructions across all zones of the state, the government has reduced the infrastructure gap by an estimated 40 percent. This scale of intervention, delivered within a short period, marks a clear departure from the slow pace and limited spread experienced in previous administrations. Improved road networks are already easing movement, boosting local commerce, and reconnecting communities.

Delivering Without New Debt
Equally significant is how these projects have been financed. Governor Adeleke’s administration has executed critical infrastructure works without resorting to fresh borrowing for those projects. At a time when many subnational governments are sinking deeper into debt, this approach reflects fiscal discipline, responsible budgeting, and a commitment to safeguarding Osun’s financial future while still meeting development needs.

Expanding Access to Quality Healthcare
Healthcare delivery has received unprecedented attention under the current administration. More than 200 primary health centres have been rehabilitated and upgraded across the state, many now equipped with solar power, clean water, and improved medical facilities. These upgrades have strengthened grassroots healthcare, particularly for pensioners, rural dwellers, and other underserved populations who now enjoy better access to essential services.

Reviving and Expanding Health Insurance
The revitalization and expansion of the Osun Health Insurance Scheme (OHIS) further underscores the administration’s people-centred focus. Under Governor Adeleke, tens of thousands of pensioners and other residents have been enrolled, granting them coverage for healthcare costs. This large-scale inclusion of pensioners is unprecedented in Osun and represents a major social protection milestone, reducing out-of-pocket expenses and improving quality of life.

A Case for Continuity
Taken together, these achievements point to a governor who prioritizes governance over grandstanding and results over excuses. Governor Ademola Adeleke has shown that it is possible to deliver infrastructure, strengthen healthcare, and maintain fiscal responsibility simultaneously.

Imole has proven himself a capable administrator with a clear development vision. For many Osun people, continuity in August 2026 is not about sentiment—it is about consolidating gains, deepening reforms, and sustaining a trajectory that is already improving lives across the state.

PoliticsUpholding The Rule Of Law And Fiscal Federalism In Nigeria by wesbrit(op): 12:26pm On Jan 28
Nigeria’s democracy rests on constitutional supremacy, separation of powers, and respect for due process. Recent concerns over APC Osun State Local Government Chairmen allegedly refusing to vacate office after the expiration of their tenure raise serious questions about adherence to these democratic principles. In a constitutional democracy, tenure limits are clearly defined by law, not by political directives or executive preference.

Any situation in which constitutional provisions are ignored creates the dangerous impression that certain actors are above the law. This undermines public trust, weakens institutions, and erodes the democratic culture Nigeria has worked hard to build. The rule of law must remain sacrosanct, irrespective of party affiliation or political advantage.

Equally, troubling is the continued withholding of Osun State local government funds. Local governments are constitutionally entitled to their allocations to effectively deliver grassroots development and basic services. Denying these funds hampers governance at the local level and punishes citizens who depend on these councils for social and economic support.

Democracy cannot thrive where illegality is tolerated, and constitutional rights are suspended. Respect for lawful tenure, judicial authority, and the prompt release of Osun State local government funds are essential steps toward preserving Nigeria’s democratic integrity and reaffirming that no one is above the Constitution.
