Lol about time someone spoke out. The market is saturated and in a desperate bid to make sales, sellers are offering ridiculous prices and buyers are simply cherry picking and even further driving down prices. Same situation played out in the international oil market in the 70's following an oil glut and the solution was the birthing of the oil Cartel - OPEC. A casual look suggests a similar structure to "control/fix" prices might just be what's needed here. Shutting down threads would be counterproductive.
How would an offerup Cartel work? A price floor and price ceiling (upper and lower limits) should be agreed on by sellers for TLC deals and already in Lagos offerup deals. Difference between TLC and already in Lagos should be between 10-20k. Any seller that offers less than the agreed price should be sanctioned by other sellers by "forcing" pickers to deny them service for as long as necessary. This is just rudimentary and I believe the fine details can be worked out.
Dragnet might disagree and want to enforce a free market system but like the OPEC example I cited above, Cartels and unions are a part of every form of business and serve to protect dangerous competition. Time for an offerup sellers Whatsapp group if it doesn't already exist.

I’d hate to Believe that the pickup threads/pickup business has a scarcity of mature minds in dispute resolution, business dealings and actions reflective persons.

The thought process here is generally low, apologies no puns intended and that’s why they’re squabbles here and there over bad business dealings, greedy buyers and sellers , dishonest and disrespectful monikers.

All in all here is my proposal

To each deal hunter his own thread

If you’re to buy a deal please ensure you’re updated with pictures of the item at pickup point (not just a picture culled from the internet )

All phones have imei ( pickers should ensure imei images of phone picked be uploaded and also rear view of the phones ), this is enough to tell physical conditions of a phone

As for deals gone bad that are not related to pickup please resolve between / within yourselves and take any measures you deem right . One too many people’s intelligence and humanity has been taken for granted .

Lastly pickers it’s your duties to always keep your thread updated .

Thing is, these issues tend to be tiring both to read and to contribute judging by their growing frequency. However, here are my thoughts.

Firstly, we all need to admit that the TLC model is a badly flawed business model and is guaranteed to breed conflict. With sellers selling stuff they've not seen and buyers paying for goods they've not inspected, you have all the ingredients for anarchy. So should TLC deals be halted? No, mostly because it has its own upside. Firstly, it allows folks to undertake a considerably profitable business with little or no start-up capital and secondly, it helps cut the long waiting time between paying for a deal and receiving it in Nigeria before earning a profit. With TLC, deal hunters can sell off their deals, make a profit and jump on the next deal. And let's not forget that a sizeable amount of deals sail through daily with everyone in the value chain very very satisfied.

How then can the business be sanitized for everyone in the value chain? For starters, let's also recognize the business is evolving and therefore rules would have to change in the face of changing realities. Henrixx suggested selling off 'links' before consummation but that's hardly practical since the business is quite fluid and in the time it'll take to find someone to take up the link, the deal could be lost. The idea of having a group of folks deciding on deals gone bad could be helpful if the conflicts/resolutions are posted back on the forum otherwise, shady characters would end up getting their activities shielded. Naming and shaming IMO represents a significant deterrent and shouldn't be done away with. And of course, there is the potential for bias except of course, the judging characters are adjudged honest and representative of the various interest concerned.

Also, I once advocated that liability should solely lie with deal hunters in the case of faulty goods but I don't think that is fair any longer. Anyone buying a TLC deal willfully undertakes to bear an element of risk and the terms and condition should reflect this. I believe liability should be shared between the Buyer and Deal Hunter if it is proven that the deal hunter undertook the necessary due diligence before selling the deal off. The case of McMayor and Omio4real comes to mind. The latter carried out his due diligence but was screwed by the picker and a dishonest seller. A deal buyer's liability should however be fixed between 10 - 15% of the cost of the deal and that 'selected group of five persons' could help determine what constitutes Due diligence on a case by case basis.

Finally, TLC deals isn't for everyone. If you don not have the temperament or simple courtesy to speak with clients when deals go bad then abstain from TLC deals like I do. The idea of owing somebody and having the demonic guts to badmouth and go about your daily business for weeks and months as if there's nothing wrong is sick and such persons should have their outstanding goods seized and banned from the forum with no exceptions. My 2 cents.
