PoliticsPDP Governors Reckless, Insensitive – Gemade by wexyee(op): 4:55pm On May 27, 2015
Chairman, Senate Committee on National Planning, Economic Affairs and Poverty Eradication, Senator Barnabas Gemade
A former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Barnabas Gemade, has described governors elected under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party as a band of reckless and insensitive people.
He accused the governors of engaging in frivolous expenditure while the people they were elected to govern were suffering untold deprivation.
Gemade spoke in Jos on Tuesday at a public lecture organised by friends of the Governor-elect of Plateau State, Mr. Simon Lalong, as part of activities marking the transition programme.
He expressed gratitude to Nigerians and particular the people of Plateau State for voting out what he described as an uncaring government.
The former PDP chairman, who is now a senator-elect under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, who was represented by Mr. Ben Gwarzo, said that while they failed to pay salaries to workers, the PDP governors also looked the other way as marauders masquerading as herdsmen were killing people with reckless abandon.
He said, “Governors elected under the PDP were very reckless and uncaring and while they embark on frivolous expenditure, they left civil servants with months of unpaid salaries. I am happy that the people of Nigeria and Plateau State voted out uncaring and insensitive governments both at the national and state levels.”
A guest speaker, Mr. Haroun Audu, decried what he described as the insensitivity of the Jonah Jang-led administration that, he claimed had thrown the people into living in apartheid-like habitation.
He said that one of the challenges of the incoming administration would be how to bring back the glory of the state, especially the one envisaged by the founding fathers led by the late Joseph Gomwalk.
He said that what Plateau State had witnessed in the last eight years was discrimination in all areas of life, including implementation of projects, adding that even the personal disposition of the governor was divisive.
Audu said, “I however argue and maintain that the personal disposition of leadership and here I speak of the governing authority led by the governor represents a vital component in advancing and sustaining community confidence in any peace process.
“In a situation where the private and public body language of the leader oozes discrimination in speech and conduct; where a leader is plainly biased in his choice of public project interventions and where he or she brazenly displays an arrogant disdain for the faith and /or ethnic origin of other people, then I am afraid and not too sure that the societal peace, harmony and the expected restoration of intercommunity relationship will take root.”
Speaking on ‘Plateau State Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow,’ he urged the incoming administration “to embrace all irrespective of class, ethnic or religious affiliation and to ensure that it intervenes in health, education, environment and infrastructure.”

PoliticsBuhari’ll Fight Corruption Like I Did —guinea President by wexyee(op): 4:45pm On May 27, 2015
President Alpha Conde of Guinea
President Alpha Conde of Guinea has expressed confidence in the ability of the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, to fight corruption, adding that Buhari will fight corruption like he has done in his country.
The Guinean President said this while speaking with journalists after a meeting with the national leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, and the Lagos State Governor-elect, Akinwunmi Ambode, in Lagos on Tuesday.
He said, “I came to Lagos to meet my brother, Tinubu before I meet with President Buhari. With the election of Buhari, who is a straight forward person that will fight corruption like me, I believe his emergence as President will culminate in a stronger relationship between Guinea and Nigeria.
“Before the last general elections in Nigeria, there were anxiety, fear and uncertainty over the land. It was the belief that the country would disintegrate. This is also drawn from the fact that Nigeria fought the Biafra war. The war against Boko Haram was also there which Africa has to jointly fight.”
Conde also described the outcome of the March 28 presidential election and acceptance of defeat by President Goodluck Jonathan as victory for Africa and Nigeria.
He said, “The election in Nigeria is a victory for Africa and Nigeria, being the biggest black African country. We also congratulate President Goodluck Jonathan for accepting defeat just like President Abdou Diouf of Senegal when he lost the presidential election.”
Tinubu said Africa must have its home-grown strategy to build its economy.
He said there was a need for Africa to address trade issues and conflicts being perpetuated by fundamentalists.
He said, “We must form that synergy amongst African countries to develop the continent. We must address open trade issues and conflict of fundamentalist. We must resolve our problems in order for our today to be better for a great continent of Africa.
“Now we have that leader; we have those leaders and they are working together to share ideas and share vision. We will rescue Africa from destitution, poverty and ignorance and that is all that we are working hard for.”
Ambode, in his remarks, assured Conde and the people of Guinea that the next four years would witness greater trade and commerce between Lagos and Guinea.

PoliticsNUPENG Backs Removal Of Subsidy by wexyee(op): 4:35pm On May 27, 2015
The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers has reversed its position on petroleum products subsidy and has declared its support for its total removal.
The union said that the subsidy funds should be channelled to the rehabilitation of refineries and infrastructural development in the country.
Speaking at a press conference on Monday, the President, NUPENG, Igwe Achese, stressed that if the government continued to fund businesses of fuel marketers through subsidy and interest payments, fuel crisis in the country would continue unabated.
He advised the government to deregulate the sector and reduce the dependence of the country on imported petroleum products.
He said, “It is in this country that you will see the government subsidising business for businessmen in terms of paying the interests on loans from the banks. It is only in Nigeria you can find these things happening because government itself has failed to provide the necessary environment.”
“We must go back to the old days of doing business as far as the oil and gas sector is concerned. These are some of the issues being captured in the Petroleum Industry Bill. Fuel crisis will continue until our refineries are fixed, until those we asked to manage the oil and gas sector also have the consciousness of the leadership to do the needful.”
Achese questioned the failure of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation to provide fuel for Nigerians despite being the major oil importer in the country.
“We cannot afford a situation where the highest importer of petroleum products in the country is NNPC. And who operates the refineries? NNPC. We have been asking this question over and over, why will NNPC be highest importer of petroleum? Why will the NNPC depots be stock empty of petroleum products? Why will NNPC send Nigerian marketers to go into the private depots to lift products? Why will NNPC go into agreement with the depots to pay N3 to depot owners in form of tribute agreement?” he added.
In the same vein, he urged Lagos State Government to create access lanes especially for fuel tankers on the highways and trailer parks close to the depots to avoid further occurrence of gridlock on the roads. PoliticsN1 Billion World Bank GIFMIS Scam: Accused Persons Arraigned By EFCC by wexyee(op): 3:45pm On May 27, 2015
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, today May 26, 2015, arraigned Mohammed Dogonyaro Audu (aka Abdullahi Dogonyaro Mohammed) and Yahaya Ayodeji, both staff of the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, OAGF, before Justice Yusuf Halilu of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory  Jabi, Abuja, on a ten count charge bordering on criminal conspiracy and complicity in award of contact.

The duo allegedly abused their offices by floating companies through which they cornered contracts emanating from the Economic Reform and Governance Project, ERGP, domiciled in the office of the Accountant General of the Federation.

The accused persons pleaded not guilty when the charge was read to them.

Count three of the charge reads;

That you Mohammed Dogonyaro Audu (aka Abdullahi Dogonyaro Mohammed) and Yahaya Ayodeji while employed in the public service on the 5th of August 2011 at Abuja in the jurisdiction of this Honorable Court knowingly acquired a private interest through your company AY-Quest Worldwide Limited in a contract awarded for the procurement of GIFMIS training materials emanating from the Economic Reform and Governance Project (ERGP), office of the Accountant General of the Federation wherein you are both employed and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 12 of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000”.

In view of their plea, prosecution counsel Cosmas Ugwu asked the court for a date to commence trial. However, counsel to the accused persons, Abubakar Sadiq Oderiku made an oral application for bail citing the "chaotic epileptic power supply" and short notice from his clients as the reason for the application.

Justice Halilu ruled that the defense files a formal application for bail as the matter is before a court of record. He remanded the accused persons in Kuje prison and adjourned the matter to June 9, 2015. Source http://saharareporters.com/2015/05/26/n1-billion-world-bank-gifmis-scam-accused-persons-arraigned-efcc
PoliticsNDLEA Denies Being Ordered From Kashamu’s Home, Kashamu’s Lawyer Says Obasanjo B by wexyee(op): 3:36pm On May 27, 2015
Justice Ibrahim Bubba, of the Federal High Court in Lagos, has ordered the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to vacate the residence and properties of Senator-Elect Buruji Kashamu. Mr. Kashamu has been under House Arrest since the early hours on Saturday morning, when the NDLEA swarmed around his house.

Mr. Kashamu is currently wanted by the United States on charges of narcotics trafficking. He was incarcerated on similar charges in the United Kingdom, but released before his extradition to the United States.

The NDLEA issued press statements saying that Mr. Kashamu was placed under House Arrest so that it would be certain that he appear before the court on Monday May 25, for a ruling whether an extradition process to the United States would begin. However, the NDLEA was unable to bring Mr. Kashamu to court on Monday.

Mr. Kashamu’s lawyer, Ajibola Oluyede, spoke with SaharaReporters today and said that “the court order is a direct result of the motion I submitted yesterday, telling the court that what the Attorney General and NDLEA were doing was unlawful.” The motion stated that the Attorney General, Mr. Adoke, and the Chairman of the NDLEA were in violation of Mr. Kashamu’s human rights.

“We have now issued charges against the Attorney General and the NDLEA for criminal conduct for how they carried themselves,” Mr. Oluyede told a SaharaReporters correspondent.

He added, “they must now return to court on June 4th to answer these charges.”

Mr. Oluyede also stated that “it is clear that the original purpose of this invasion was to kidnap him [Mr. Kashamu] and ship him off to the US, in violation of the Extradition Act.”

“No arrest warrant was issued by the court, which means they [the Attorney General and NDLEA] never intended to follow legal procedure,” he said.

Mr. Oluyede then revealed that he received information that, “their [the NDLEA and Attorney General] first plan was to abduct him on Saturday and ship him off to the US. It was only when this failed that they started talking about taking him to court.”

Mr. Oluyede also told SaharaReporters that it is obvious that former President Olusegun Obasanjo was behind the latest efforts to arrest Senator-Elect Kashamu. “Prince Kashamu is the political nemesis of Obasanjo, who has now lost relevance in the South West.”

“Obasanjo is now a paper weight electorally in Nigeria, he may have international clout but he cannot get votes for people in Nigeria,” Mr. Oluyede said.

The NDLEA Head of Public Affairs, Mr. Ofoyeju Mitchell, told SaharaReporters that “the NDLEA has not received any court order to vacate Mr. Kashamu’s residence and we believe any order to vacate his residence is diversionary.”

Mr. Mitchell also stated that “the NDLEA refuses to be distracted by his court maneuvers and advises that Kashamu respect the law by submitting himself to the due process of the law.”

Mr. Mitchell also stated that it is false to suggest that the NDLEA has acted unlawfully, “we received a provisional warrant from the Federal High Court.”

The above regions will team up together to jettison power back to the south, propably south west, cos for igbo to be president is like a night mear.

But cnt really tell if this team up would be against 2019 or 2023 presidential election, but i think it would be that of 2023 presidential election...

PoliticsArmy Confirms That Girls Rescued Are Not #chibokgirls by wexyee(op): 6:33am On Apr 29, 2015
This, however, does not take away the significance of rescuing 293
women from the shackles of captivity. However, the Chibok girls got a lot
of global attention, while other groups of people abducted before and
after the Chibok Girls incident have gotten little or no mention, so it is
easy to see why most people are rooting for (only) them.
We congratulate the military and appreciate their newfound dedication. All

history really isn't really your strong suit. Pick up a book about the civil war and read it instead of depending on redundant info you may have gotten from your father who was nowhere near the fighting. Do you mean to tell me that nigeria had the oppourtunity to wipe out Biafra and didn't ? Dat would be really dumb of them. And for ur information, none of our women were raped, they'd rather die than have a yoruba or hausa d*ck in dem by force. Their husbands had the good sense to move them out of the area before the enemy advanced, the few that died were from air strikes
P.S: i don't see why nigerian army should be called heroes just because more than 250 ethnic groups joined forces to fight one group. And the people in the south-west, naturally being cowards, ran and hid at the first sight of war while my brave fathers went out and met the war head first and would have won if not for the deception of the south-south.
I'm not in any way supporting.. but igbo women were raped... the entire SE in siege
