Music/RadioRe: Numark Cdx Cd Turntables X 2 - 4 Sale: by Weymola(op): 12:40pm On Jun 14, 2011
Preshizeee, thanks for the offer. Unfortunately I will have to decline it. The flight case is at a minimum easily N85K on its own. The CDX's I can do for N140K for both. But I understand if you feel the prices seem to high.

The equipment is top quality, and I spent over N350K on the bits you are interested in alone initially when I bought them. I've used them but I not a professional DJ, so they don't get used that much in reality.

For DJ's or enthusiasts who want the feel of vinyl but use CDs or MP3s to djay, then theses are the turntables you need. I use traktor pro scratch timecodes with these CDXs, and the combination works very well.

But thanks for your interest anyway.

Preshizeee, interesting you say that, since Numark stopped production of this specific model over a year ago. I'm surprised you can actually get them new, and at that price also.

When I bought these new 3 years ago I spent 113K on each! If you can get them new at the price you mentioned, I would suggest you go for them, at least they would still be new and under some form of warranty.

Preshizeee,

No the mixer and case arent included. The mixer is a Pioneer DJM800, and the flight case is a Road Ready Coffin. I wasnt thinking of selling either of them however, if you are interested maybe we can talk about them.

Thanks

Hello,

I am selling both of my Numark CDX - Vinyl Controlled Cd Deck Digital Turntables. I bought both of them for N260K, 3 years ago. They are in very condition as you can see from the attached photos, and have really been used at home only. I will be selling them for N150K or nearest offer.

So if you like the feel of vinly then theses are for you. Or if you are into Serato, or Traktor then these are a perfect match.

Any questions are welcome, please text me on 08035572670

Music/RadioDj Discussions - How Did You Learn To Dj? by Weymola(op): 3:08pm On May 06, 2011
Hi fellow Dj's out there in and on Nairaland,

I'm writing this post hopefully to connect with others out there who Dj, on a full or part time basis.

As a dj I would classify myself as part time. I'm also old school ie my musical references go back to the 80's. I was introduced to the art of dj-ing while at secondary school in Warri. Rap had been growing steadily as a music form in the early 80's, and those of us in Nigeria young enough to understand it bought into easily. For me it was in 83' that I recognised the dj as we think of him or her today. Ice-T rapped in the movie "break dance", with a dj called Chris the "glove" Taylor, and it was this dj Chris that inspired me.

As the whole hiphop/rap thing began to grow the dj was at the center, as most groups tended to have a dj as the focal point, and 2 rappers to compliment, RunDMC used that formular till DMC's demise. By the early 90s there were djs everywhere, the art of beat mixing, and scratching, became the trade marks of any real hiphop dj.

Viv Uku aka Dj Reckless, who happens to be my cousin, and with whom I grew up with in Benin City, was the only real dj champ I knew in the 90s, who was Nigerian. He was DMC mixing champ for the UK, and Europe, but wasnt a Hiphop or Rap dj in the true sense, but rather drew his musical inspirations from Dance music.

http://youtu.be/g-zpuq4L7Us - DJ Reckless at work!

As a part time dj, I've amassed quiet a bit of kit, I'm constantly buying bits and pieces be it software, or hardware. I learnt to dj using CDs, this was mainly due to the fact that I never bought Lps. I had nursed the idea of buying some vinly turntables and then use timecoded Lps to mix, but haven't done anything about thus far. I currently have migrated to mp3's format mainly for its ease of use, and accessiblity. I use Tracktor Pro, and VirtualVinly software. I've found Tracktor to be a fantastic tool for mixing and dj-ing songs that were originally created as digital audio ie anything created after 1990! Virtual vinly on the other hand I use for my oldies and 80's music which were recorded as analogue.

Some of the equipment I own include:

2 x Pioneer CDJ1000 - industry standard CD decks
2 x Numark CDx - Vinly feel CD desks
2 x Native Instruments Tracktor Kontrol 1 - Great midi controller for Tracktor
1 x American Audio VMS4 - MP3 midi workstation
1 x Pioneer DJM800 - Industry standard 4 channel mixer

I dj at parties, and functions when I can, and have never done the club scene. I play old school, 80's, 90's rnb, hiphop and 9ija mainly.

It would be nice hearing stories from other djs operating in Nigeria, what equipment you use, and music you play.

Afam4eva, haba!

dhtml did as for more than just the OS on the machine. The manufacture, and model are key bits of information you have ommited from your reply.
To get the right drivers fro your hardware you will need to indentify the manufacturer of machine, and possible its sound card.

Best of luck

ComputersRe: Help: Dell Pe Sc440 Server by Weymola(m): 4:29pm On Feb 24, 2009
Coolruler.

Yeah I think i'm getting a better now. So the new server was insatlled into the same AD domain, you ran the dcpromo command on the old server and got the mappers not availiable message? Have you got the dell openmanage CD? I think thats your best bet at this stage as it has the utilites to allow you install a new server OS. You wont be able to install XP usinf this utility CD as its not built for that purpose. It maybe possible to get the drivers fro your raid card, so you can manually try the install. But your best bet is to install Win2003.

On another note I ust remember that on my SC400 I have VMware ESXi running. It was an easy install and it recognised the disks and other bits of hardware in the box. My SC440 processor had the V extentions buitl so ESX installed easily. I'm thinking since the ESXi foot print is only 64Mb and its overheads on the server very low, then this might be a solution for your problem. Once ESXi is installed you can then install XP on the box with no worries.

The ESXi is a free download from VMWare so its worth a shot, plus you can begin to play around with ESX server in the process.

cheers

Switchtech,

Sounds like your trying to scare people.

Binhozie,

Windows OS are know for gatering clutter over time, these maybe create the experiences you've noticed recently on your laptop.

Generally its good practice to service your machines frequently like every quarter, in the industry we call this a health check, or maintenance. Its a good idea to do this and see how your PC behaves afterwards. I not a firm believer that every problem is relates to a virus!

So get a good tech, to clean out your temp temp files, update AV definitions, patches if any, defracment the hard drive, and see what programs load via msconfig. Sometimes creating a new profile is a good way resolves these problems also.

Hope this helps
ComputersRe: Best Antivirus To Use by Weymola(m): 8:01pm On Feb 23, 2009
dhtml,
I like your question.
In my humble opinion there is no "best" antivirus out there. We all have preferences, some becoause they are free oters because they are good. So in some ways its a matter or choice.

Personally I try to use one or two vendors for antivirus, and aim to understand that product as best I can. That way I can always try my best to get it to work regardless of circumstance. I provide a service to serval clients, and they need there machines to work, not get slowed down by viruses and spyware, so its up to me to ensure there wishes are met. So for me the best antivirus is the one you can get to work and work well with out silly issues 90% of the time.

That said I currently use AVG, and BitDefender products for clients, and in my office we TrendMicro. Neither my clients or I have had a virus that hasnt been detected by either of these products. But in honesty I wouldnt say tey were the best, just the ones we use.

Cheers
ComputersRe: My Sound Is Gone, Pls Help Me by Weymola(m): 7:47pm On Feb 23, 2009
Afam4eva,

You probably need to download the drivers for your soundcard, as they were lost when you formatted the drive, and i suppose reinstalled your OS. So go to the soundcards manufactures website and load te appropriate one. Problem should then be solved.

Hope this helps.
ComputersRe: Help: Dell Pe Sc440 Server by Weymola(m): 4:08pm On Feb 23, 2009
The issue your facing with installing an alternative OS this server isnt new. It fairly common, I remember facing thses issues back in the days of NT4. The virtual disk you saw listed, was basically the logical drive presented to the OS at install, and could be made up of one or more physical disk drives. For an older OS such as XP to see that volume you need to tell it what driversto use, hence you gt the option to press F6 during the install so additional drivers can be specfied.

But as I think about it, i know from experience that the installationwill require you to put a floppy disk with drivers in the machine. This is a histotric thing, so if you dont have a floppy drive in that server then you'll run into problems.

I was also curious how you came about this problem. Its not clear if you were demoting prior to installing the new server? I would expect you to 1stly install the new server, then demote the older one.

Hope this helps

ComputersRe: Help: Dell Pe Sc440 Server by Weymola(m): 10:06pm On Feb 20, 2009
Coolruler, !

I've got one those SC440 servers running SBS2003!

To install XP on this both you will the drivers for the SATA disk in that box. You see your server has a RAID config setup, hence the virtual disk you where seeing. Well you need to get the drivers from Dell, and press F6 during the install process and tell it where to find the drivers for your RAID card, so it can see the disks.

Let me know how you get on?

Na waa O! kazey this topic is biting you

Personally I don't think racism is off topic here - In fact I have been expecting it to crop up within this thread.

Racism is a bias of colour or race, and is similar and sometimes connected to religious bias, hence it was probably mentioned here.

This bias will continue to live amongst us forever as far as I am concerned. As long as we have the right to choose what we prefer, then the biases will remain. I guess what we strive for is understanding this flaw in our nature and addressing it when appropriate.

This bias or fear of this bias has propably prompted this thread in first place. No man is an island - and we all find ourselves under the pressure of friends, family and the society at large, even more so when a marriage in pending.

Some people find it extreme and risky progressing a relationship that is not approved of by their friends or family. Others damn the consequences and get on with life. Either way you will still find its not all plain sailing.
