Nairaland / General / Resumption Saga by WhatIwant(f): 5:38pm On Oct 26, 2022
Resumption Yi ti su mi....

Naive me thinking things were worser during the strike and would get better once school resumes but alas this resumption is air constricting. Bills and owo onje is taking its toll and not only me( us the students) but our parents as well.

I honestly wish we can go on a strike again ...I'd rather that than have my parents thinking about how and where to borrow money with interest from.

Nigeria and the system makes life harder to live.

#o ti su mi.

Health / A Sickler's Situation. by WhatIwant(f): 7:24am On Jul 28, 2022
Good morning everyone. I want to ask for any sickler's input here or someone who has stayed with them??
Does anyone experience any excruciating stomach pain that causes lack of sleep, vomiting ?? Does anyone know what may have caused it,what drug to take and how to help the person?.

My sister is a sickler, she's very strong and healthy too for her status...she hasn't had a crisis in a while,my parents try to spend as much as they have on her drugs but recently she has been having that symptom above.she couldn't sleep since 2am this morning. The first time it happened,we went to the chemist, she said it was probably indigestion,we got drugs and it stopped, the second time was more serious,we went to the sickle cell centre,it was on a Sunday, the doctor wasn't around...there wasn't enough money to take her to a private hospital,so when the nurses told us it was probably ulcer and asked us to get some drugs,we did and it stopped stopped..we thought that was it till 3weeks ago that it started again,it was worse..she had to miss school,we went back to the sickle cell centre, saw a doctor and told them to run a test like a scan really..we showed him the report,he said it was some sort of infection on her kidney,we were so worried at first but he said if she takes her drugs, she'll be fine....she was o till today, she was in so much pain,we both couldn't sleep cos I was monitoring her.
So please if any sickler has experienced this symptom before, please tell me what causes it and how to stop it.
My parents are not financially okay right now so we can't afford her to have a crisis...and we have no money for a private hospital either. The sickle cell centre close to us are undermanaged ,it's more of a business center than a government facility...I don't trust them.
Please help us any way you can...sicklers and non sickler as long as you're knowledgeable about this, just yesterday...she was so excited about her graduation and today she's sick . My parents are trying their best but it's not enough. whenever she gets sick,we all get mentally drained because of the financial, physical and emotional stress on us all.
Please if any sickler has had this symptom...tell me what it's likely to be ,the pain is too much for her

But if anyone thinks I'm lying,I can send a shot of her test we did and her drugs she uses everyday
I don't expect much but I'm grateful I have a place to seek help,we like to keep her status a secret cos the area we are is a bit medically retarded.pls...help me push it to front-page...I don't know how to do that.
Thank you all

Very true. But as emphasized above, am referring to those ones channelling their strength on social media. Which means they had at least a smart phone and data connection. So, unlike those who don't have it's totally a different case.
Yeah...sir,I just wanted to make sure there is a clear distinction about who those statements are for cos a lot of people rope everyone for what might have been the majority or the minority's fault.
Thank you.

Quick blunt but frank feedback. The youths need to learn how to better manage their time. We have many opportunities around us but not many people know how to use them wisely. The digital age has truly made it easy for you to learn - you can literally learn anything from the smallest corner of the world; the highest it takes is a smartphone and good internet connection, luxuries available to many people in Nigeria.

So, dear youths, use your head and be wise.
But sir/ma....a good smartphone and good internet connection is a very expensive luxury that a lot of people can't also afford.
There's a huge different between Tecno y2 and a Tecno camon....there's a huge difference between a 100naira for 100 mb per day and a 2gb for a week or more. Luxury is expensive

Most lazzy students channels their energy on social media to be Obe-diot than learn a skill. Poor generation that doesn't work but expect miracles to happen. Who told you if you go to school, you don't need to hustle?? Most of them are into Yahoo and prostitute. To them, maybe if another gov't comes in, money will be picked by the road side everyday. Untill you're useful to yourself, you cannot be useful to the society. Channel your energy and learn a skill rather than channelling it to social media.

I can take you on Photoshop, graphics, content writing as well as Data analysis for Uni undergraduate students.

But sir...not everyone is as opportuned as they'd like... learning these online skills require a good phone,or laptop and data connection.
Not everyone can afford it.

You need not worry yourself with what others say about you, just work hard and make sure you do the right things to become successful. Just like you asserted hold no grude against your family members, you are unique. Keep rolling.

Well lemme just say this, you should not look down on yourself, common you are alot better than most people out there. You just have to be positive about your self, I actually have a childhood like yours, no weak I was not beating by my dad, calling me all sort of names.
Then he used to call me thief that i will never make it in life , even though what was missing I did not even see it. Sometimes I will asking myself is this man my real dad or not, just because of the way he treated me. But I did not let those words get to me. I can say today I am doing well and i avoid my dad, I think the last time we spoke was 4 years ago.

Thank you so much...
I pray we're all able to let go and fully move on

No, you won't end up useless. You shall rather fulfill your purpose and be a blessing to your world.

Parents say things they don't mean sometimes just to make us feel bad cos we've done things they don't like. The trick is to avoid the triggers and much as you can. May God help you.

*hugs*

Amen...thanks for that word of encouragement,it really sinks when people say positive things to our lives..
I know he probably doesn't mean it but it hurts sometimes but I try to rise above it..I love my dad nonetheless.

My dad used to be abusive with me all the time, like there was hardly a week I wouldn't be the recipient of his anger...I was beaten more than my siblings and insulted as well...he would call me a prostitute,a useless child and a destroyer cos I used to break plates or cups frequently..it used to hurt a lot, still does but it didn't really hit me until the day I and my siblings were just teasing and asking ourselves who was less useful in the house in terms of chores....and my lil sis said me cos.....her words were "everybody knows who is useless cos daddy says it all the time"....I haven't gotten over it,I probably might never but I love my family regardless....even though...there's that fear that....yup!! I'll end up useless like they say

So you're trying to say that you're inlove abi?
I don't think so cos how can you love when u don't know what love is. .
I mean LOVE is selfless...meaning you can't be selfish with it or to someone you love..and she's being selfish to you rn..her aside, you need to love yourself before loving someone else, that means u need to be selfless to yourself too...stop being selfish to yourself by being in an unhealthy back and forth...

Good day guys,I don't know when you'll be reading or see this ...so that's a general greeting there
I'm a student affected by this strike issue,I waited 4yrs to get into school into a course that wasn't my choice only for this strike to surface and make me feel like I've wasted years of my life...I'm 20 and while people might think I'm too young to be bothered,I really want to be able to help myself and build my future somehow as long as it's legal and not promiscuous.

I've always heard of people making money online but I don't know how or if it's true, and the ones I do know involves money...which I do not have. I wanted to learn a handwork during this period but honestly there's no money and things are tight...and no help from anywhere,my parents are trying but I can't add this stress into them rn..

Looking for jobs is a different story cos 10-15k payment for a 7-6 or even later than 6pm is a no cos by the time I've removed tfare and feeding for the month.... nothing might be left...

I don't know how or if you guys can help but please do....I would want to learn a handwork honestly but if anyone knows how else I can make the money or get fund for it... please...do state it
