Dogs are very intelligent. I didn't even have to train my dog to stop urinating or defecating at the entrance porch but after she saw the digust on my face each time i cleaned up her mess she stopped and would wait till you take her outside before she does that.

They also get jealous too.

The German Shepherd's popularity was greatly due to the soldiers of WW1 lauding the dogs' agility and remarkable behavior during the War (on the side of Germany, to where the dog belonged), although the dogs were present and bred outside of Germany as well. However, towards the end of the war and for a few years after, especially leading up to WW2, there was a universal rise in Anti-German sentiment . It was felt that the word 'German' in the dog's name could hamper the breed's popularity. So, the breed was renamed to
Alsatian, after the French-German border city of Alsace. This was immediately towards the end of the First World War.
At around 1925 or so, the Alsace club, (ironically) reinstated the old name,
German Shepherd Dog. American Kennel Club followed suit. However, the Kennel Club of UK retained 'Alsatian' as the primary breed name, with 'German Shepherd' in brackets. This was reversed in 1977, when the breed became German Shepherd Dog (Alsatian). Finally, in 2010, the name 'Alsatian' was completely eliminated.

For future references. Never u bath a pregnant dog.

Bathing a dog will cause her to wanna dry up the furs by shaking vigorously, this causes vibrations within the belly and might lead to forced labour, miscarriages or still births...

And again, hope u didn't bath her with soap? I fear for the pup, cos if he sucks the leftover stench of soap on the dam, death beckons...

And to answer ur question, Yes, Dogs do give birth to just a pup, it's no News.

I'm ashamed to type this. I feel bad, uncaring and unworthy to own a dog. I traveled two days ago and dad traveled too. So I called a friend to help me take Smart to his place and watch over him just for One week. I took his bathe before traveling and we even jogged round the estate. This afternoon, my friend called me and said my beloved GSD has died!! I thought he was joking. I suspended what I was doing in Ibadan and rushed to Abeokuta. There, I saw my once troublesome dog still. I couldn't cry. My friend said he didn't know what killed him. I called in a Vet and he said smart died of shortage of blood. On a careful look at where he kept my dog, I found teaks. Teaks (eegbon) killed my dog!! The dog that despite his wahala, I made sure was clean. He never pooed in his house. Indeed, no one can care for your property like you.
Also, I've learned to take more care of animals in future. I loved him, maybe I didn't show him enough (which I doubt). Rest well King Smart! A good friend for 6 months. I'm sorry I caused your death!
