Reno Omokri finally Issues Statement on Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway Project Replying to one of his Twitter (X) followers

Dear Dirk,

Thank you for your feedback. I do not know where you got this information. It might have been from Radio Biafra, but it is false.

On this current demolition exercise for the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, please note that it is being carried out and authorised by an Igbo man, Dave Umahi and most of those affected are Yoruba.

Also, the Federal Government never seized the monies and properties of Igbos after the civil war. There was no law or policy to that effect. The Gowon government did seize Ojukwu's property, but it was returned to him by the Babangida administration.

During the war, the Republic of Biafra introduced its own currency, the Biafran Pound, on January 29, 1968. The Nigerian government refused to recognise that currency.

After Biafra was defeated and Colonel Ojukwu fled Nigeria on January 9, 1970, the then Minister of Finance, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, introduced a policy of giving everybody who had an account domiciled in Biafran Pound the sum of 20 Nigerian Pounds. It was a gift.

Those Igbos who had their bank balance in Nigerian Pounds got ALL of their money back in full, even if their accounts were in Biafra. Those who had money in Nigerian banks had their money intact. The Nigerian government did not seize it. Examples would be Chief Alex Ekwueme and Senator Arthur Nzeribe, both late. Another example is Chief John Nnia Nwodo. I can show you his video testifying that his father's deposit in Nigeria was not only INTACT after the war, but had yielded significant interests.

Only those who had Biafran Pounds were subject to the £20 policy.

Neither was their property seized by the Federal Government. The only people who seized their property were their fellow Igbo-speaking people in Rivers State, referred to as Ikwerre, who say they are not Igbo. It was Igbo inhumanity to fellow Igbo (although they claim they are not Igbo). But in other parts of Nigeria, it never happened.

An example is the case between the late Alex Ekwueme and Otunba Subomi Balogun. Although they were not really friends, per se, they lived close to each other. Just before the outbreak of the civil war, Alex Ekwueme left Lagos for the Eastern Region, like most prudent Igbos.

After the war, he returned to Lagos and, surprisingly, met his house in a renovated condition. While wondering what happened, his neighbour, Mr. Subomi Balogun, approached him and gave him his back rent in cash.

Your own leader, Nnamdi Azikiwe, abandoned your region during the war and fled to Lagos to join General Gowon. Yet, a Yoruba saboteur, in the person of Wole Soyinka, was jailed by Gowon from 1967 to 1969, for advocating for Biafra.

Everybody around Aguiyi Ironsi abandoned him. Everybody, except Colonel Adekunle Fajuyi, who refused to abandon his guest, and VOLUNTARILY followed him to death. After Ironsi’s death, General Adebayo looked after Ironsi’s children, who lived with him in his house.

After Chukwuma Nzeogwu was killed, it was his friend, Olusegun Obasanjo, that looked after his mother, and ensured all his siblings were educated.

This same Olusegun Obasanjo ended the civil war and ensured that troops under his command did not take revenge against civilians, as was done by soldiers under the command of the late Murtala Mohammed.

Additionally, when he became President, Olusegun Obasanjo remembered the children of Emmanuel Ifeajuna and did something powerful for them that I am not at liberty to say publicly, except that I worked at Aso Rock at the same time his son worked there.

Thanks again, and may God bless you.

But what they don't know is that other investors who are not Igbos are also watching and taking notes.

I just they laugh at myself because by the time I realise what I'm doing to myself, I'll be like when Zimbabweans began chasing white people and their investments out of their lands in the 1980's thinking they were doing the oyinbos, only for the country to suffer from one of the worst economic crisis known to mankind a few years later grin

You only receive compensation if your personal land is taken or if your approved building is destroyed. Landmark didn't have any personal land taken because the beach is public property and no regular building of theirs was destroyed. They are entitled to zero compensation and accordingly got none.
Landmark was only trying to blackmail the government into allowing them to keep using the beach illegally without buying it or paying rent on it. They recruited Peter Obi in their propaganda war with Federal Government but failed woefully. Thank God the road continues.
You are damn right! God punish all the enemies of Nigeria - the road continues

Trust me, you have no idea what $200 million means - If you do, you'd realize that the place isn't even worth the amount you mentioned. I advise you to take a closer inspection of the property, you'll notice that it's constructed on the beach or government land. Na Pray we go pray for una.

That's because the indigenous people of Osun and Kwara States are Yorubas, and the last time I checked, Lagos was Yoruba land. Yorubas are free to roam around and claim any land that belongs to their ancestors. much like how Caucasian Europeans do in Europe.

In America you don’t even have to pay it off to rent it out. Take it from someone who has rental properties. The tenants pay me and I pay the bank and pocket the difference.

People will pay more for rent because they can’t afford the initial down payment to own yet but you that’s owning will end up paying less and charging them more for the rent. It’s most definitely cheaper in the long run to be an owner versus a renter

I don’t know why anyone who really knows what they are talking about will want to discourage someone from buying a house because of mortgage. Unless they are enemies of progress. If they really know what’s up and they are still saying that, I’ll just take it that they don’t want anyone but themselves to succeed.

An older lady in my life just got rid of one of her properties that she got years and years ago when they first came here and the equity on it was more than enough for a sprawling magnificent compound with multiple properties in their hometown in Nigeria.

Imagine if she had decided to rent for all those years because Mr Digmygold thinks she needs to wait until she has millions of dollars in her account first. She would have been paying rent and trying to save on the side for her project. When she could just pay it into a house she owns and the money is still hers whenever she’s ready to let the house go. Something a renter can’t do.

People really just be saying anything on this forum
You just don't get it, do you? -- nobody is trying to discourage anyone from purchasing a house with a mortgage -- Speaking for myself, I'm simply trying to make him understand that the term "own" he used is a bit too definitive for a house acquired through a mortgage.

True. The idea of a mortgage is to pay it off as fast as possible. A $450k mortgage could have the owner eventually paying off a total of $800k (principal + Interest).

U don't know what U talking about and I doubt I own property anywhere not to talk of western country.
Where did U get the info U need to pay 80% of your loan b4 the house can be yours.
..who told U that?
If it's help to buy, once you pay off your equity loan, U can rent the property out and pocket the profit off the rent.

I know people whose mortgage is 600 pounds and they rent their house for 1,300 pounds. Sot down there and be doing bad belle. They are just 5 yrs into their mortgage payment

I know people who bought houses in London for 60k in early 2000s, today those property are over 300k. Which yeye inflation wants to devalue such appreciation.

Pls if U can enter the property market, do so fast. U are already in western country so do as they do.
Drop all those your naija mentality and learn the game here.
Johnny Just Come -- you'll understand when the time comes -- Just to clarify, I've been self-employed for most of my time in the West. Wishing you the best of luck.

Another bad belle.
If the house appreciates and they decide to sell. Who will take the equity- them or the lender?
If they buy the house for 200k and it appreciates to 250k, them they decide to sell...
Who will go with the 50k? Them or the lender?
See why U are bad belle.

The earlier U climb into the property ladder in western countries the better, not even this period with so much uncertainty and spiraling interest rate.
Boy, before you even thought of leaving Nigeria for the UK, I already owned a few properties in the West, all fully paid. While I appreciate the importance of having a place to call home -- the term (Own) you used is wrong -- I can tell, you lack understanding in this matter. My intention is simply to clarify that we should be honest when discussing such matters. The property you currently reside in is not yet truly yours, you are merely occupying it until you can repay at least 80% of the loan used to acquire it. Regarding equity, was the loan you received from the bank interest-free? -- In a few years, when the house is supposedly valued at 250 thousand pounds as you mentioned, will the price of coffee remain the same? Capital NO -- this is not equity as you may have been led to believe, but rather the result of factors such as inflation, your monthly mortgage payments, loan interest, property tax, and other associated costs. While I'm happy for you, I believe it's important for you to understand these realities. have a good day.

If you know your onions just like myself (yes, I'm bragging), you can own house a mortgaged house within a year in the UK unlike some discouraging stories some people like to tell.
FIXED

A mortgaged home is a property that has a mortgage loan secured against it. In other words, the homeowner has borrowed money from a lender (such as a bank or mortgage company) to purchase the home, and the property serves as collateral for the loan. Until the mortgage is fully paid off, the lender holds a legal claim on the property, and if the homeowner fails to make mortgage payments as agreed, the lender has the right to foreclose on the property and sell it to recover the outstanding debt.

EducationRe: Private School Teachers Are Really Going Through Alot. by WhiteWood:
The Nigerian school teachers/private School teachers are not going through anything -- I love that our younger generation are beginning to stand up for themselves. Those who should be teaching us good manners by setting an example and through diplomacy have oppressed Nigerian children for too long/many years, undermining their confidence. This is the primary reason why Nigerian youths today are unaware of their rights and, consequently, idolize their oppressors.

Hats off to our younger generation -- they are educating themselves about their rights via the internet. In a rational society, that teacher should be suspended for directly confronting the child instead of reporting the matter to the school's disciplinary authority. The teacher is not the child's parent.

Many of you advocating for this boy's punishment are the same individuals who spend their entire day on the internet lamenting about our government and our failed nation. However, you seem to forget that only children who are nurtured with love and set a positive example grow up with the confidence to effect change. These children do not grow up worshipping individuals simply because some FOOLS believe it is their right for the younger generation to worship them.

****** Most of you quoting me are some of the reasons Nigeria as a country is not moving forward, -- brainwashing is a BIG problem. Are you all suggesting that the child shouldn't defend himself even if the teacher verbally abuses him or physically assaults him, as seen in numerous Nigerian YouTube videoshuh SMH

******* This is the same reason Junior Pope ( Rest in Peace) was surrounded by over 100 people, yet not a single one could muster the initiative to administer CPR to him, Instead, they returned him to the river that claimed his life -- because these people weren't taught anything while growing up apart from how to worship their oppressors.
