Romance / Why It Appear Most Guys Remained Unmarried by wholexy009(m): 3:05pm On Feb 20, 2016
I often ask myself how come there are still many single ladies out there considering the large number of guys who are ready and willing to get married. I am one of these guys with all the basic things (A good job, well furnitured flat, a car etc) expected in any home. There are also several of my colleagues and friends in this category.

The fundamental question we should now ask ourself is "how come these guys are still single despite being ready for marriage". The answer is simple: although there are many single ladies , only few of them are either ready or really marriageable. If am to use myself as an example again; I have three ladies who am currently with now and all are ready to say yes if I propose today. However each time i sit down to think about the possibility of spending the rest of my life with any of them, " fear dey always catch me" they simply lack the simple basic things guys expect from their wives. For example all I want from my potential wife are just: An averagely beautiful lady, with good interpersonal r/ship with people arnd her and able to Manage both her career and home. LOBATAN

Despite the fact the expectations of most of guys like moi are not really out of place, getting a good woman to marry has become AN ULTIMATE SEARCH with no ending. Although there are several guys too with many frivolous expectations from their potential wife. If our ladies genuinely let go of most of the bad traits we see in them today, i believe the number of both single guys and ladies we significantly reduced. Wearing skimpy dress, drinking and smoking, fighting over every little things, being unnecessarily jealous , turning ur guys to ATM, and lacking other basics character of a virtous woman will only make guys to see u as irresponsible and a no no for them

So let us all work on ourself (both guys and babes) and the society will be better for it.

Politics / Buhari May Sack Emefiele ‘Any Moment From Now’ - Ripples by wholexy009(m): 3:02pm On Feb 17, 2016
Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor, Godwin Emefiele, may be the next top profile government official to lose his job, Ripples can authoritatively confirm.

Top presidential aides confided on Monday that the dragnet is drawing closer to Emefiele, who was appointed as head of the nation’s apex bank by former President Goodluck Jonathan on June 3, 2014.

Emefiele replaced Mallam Lamido Sanusi, the Emir of Kano, who was controversially suspended and fired by Jonathan for alleged insubordination.

But the CBN chief has been in the eye of the storm lately following revelations that the nation’s treasury was practically emptied to fund the failed re-election bid of Jonathan in 2015.

Emefiele, investigators alleged, granted government officials unfettered access to the treasury during the electioneering period and even printed new currencies when the vault was drained.

Many people expected President Muhammadu Buhari to have fired the bank’s chief following his alleged involvement in the infamous Dansukigate scandal, but a top presidential aide said Buhari decided otherwise, to strike at the best time.

Politics / Amazing: An Italian Town Witnessed The Birth Of The First Baby In 28 Years (pic) by wholexy009(m): 8:49am On Feb 02, 2016
Since the 1980s, the Italian town of Ostana had not seen the birth of a single baby.
But last week, a dream came true, as the mayor of the small town said. A baby was born. The first in 28 years.
According to La Stampa, the town has only 85 inhabitants, including newborn Pablo. Its population has continuously fallen -- a fate shared by many other Italian towns and villages.

"The real decline started in 1975, with 17 babies between 1976 and 1987, when the last boy was born - until little Pablo,"
Mayor Giacomo Lombardo was quoted as saying. A party will be held to celebrate what he hopes will be the start of a reversal of that trend.

But the population decline will be hard to stop, no matter what ideas Lombardo comes up with.

Younger Italians in particular say there are few attractive job prospects in rural areas. Many have moved to cities, leaving their hometowns to the elderly. Ostana, which is in northern Italy, has only one shop, a bar and two restaurants, according to the Italian news site the Local.

Some parts of northern Italy have been hit harder than others. But the south, including the island of Sicily, has faced more dramatic demographic changes in recent decades.

The arrival of baby Pablo has certainly been welcomed in Ostana, according to the mayor. "It's great to finally have someone born here, and it shows that our efforts to reverse population decline are slowly working," Lombardo was quoted as saying.

Lombardo has tried to create jobs in order to prevent other young people from leaving the town. Pablo might be the first indication that his strategy is working. His parents wanted to move away several years ago but stayed after they were offered the opportunity to work at a mountain refuge.

The rate this people marry our women is alarming.

Its only when it comes to marrying Igbo women that people preach 'integration', 'unity', 'one Nigeria'.

But when it comes to voting an Igbo President, u hear 'over my dead body', 'Igbos will never rule Nigeria'.

Bet why? According to Aishat Alubankudi, the photo was taken yesterday & the family has received over N500,000 so far. She wrote;

"I'm really disappointed, after all the financial support that this girl and her family received in the last two weeks plus a new wheelchair from good Samaritans, they are still on the street begging! This is why citizens do not give a damn about beggars! You will be shocked if I tell you the amount that they received!" she wrote.

Nairaland / General / World's Oldest Man Aged 131 Discovered Living In Brazil by wholexy009(m): 8:17am On Jan 14, 2016
Civil servants in Brazil say they have discovered the world’s oldest man - a 131-year-old dad-of-three living with a wife 69 years his junior.
The Guinness Book of Records recognises 112-year-old Yasutaro Koide from Japan as the oldest person alive.
And Frenchwoman Jeanne Calment, who died aged 122 in 1997, holds the record for the world’s longest living person.
Social security workers in Acre in the north of Brazil today caused furore by publishing photos of OAP Joao Coelho de Souza alongside a birth certificate dated March 10 1884.
The document showed he was born in the city of Meruoca in Ceara nearly 2,000 miles to the east of Acre.

A colleague of a civil servant who made a routine visit to confirm he was still alive and therefore eligible for his pension posted the information on his Facebook .
He called on the state government to confirm the find and register Joao for the Guinness Book of Records.
Brazilian papers today said he lived with a wife aged 62 and a granddaughter aged 16 in a village called Estirao do Alcantara, a 30-minute boat ride away from Sena Madureira, a municipality in the centre of the state of Acre.
His daughter Cirlene Souza, aged only 30 which would mean if his age was right that Joao was 101 when she was born, told one paper: “He has days when he is lucid but others when he doesn’t even recognise his children.

“He was very small when he came to work in Acre extracting rubber. “He has been with my mum for more than 40 years and depends on others for everything.”

Responding to doubts about her dad's age, she added:

“You hear everything, people that criticise and say it’s a lie and others that admire the fact someone can live so long.

“It’s sometimes offends me because everything is documented and the documents have already been examined by experts at to see if they’d been falsified and nothing abnormal was found.”
Cirlene said Joao suffered a stroke six years ago but continued to eat three times a day.
His favourite dishes are rice, fish and meat and the only thing he turns his nose up at is a local bean-based dish called feijao.
Kennedy Afonso is the social security worker who posted photos of Joao and his birth certificate taken by a colleague on his Facebook on January 11.
He said:

“I’ve asked one of his children if anyone’s interviewed him and to my astonishment no-one has yet. “The question ‘where are our historians’ immediately springs to mind. “According to a son he is still quite lucid and has a great story to tell.

“I present to you Jose Coelho de Souza, who came to Acre when he was 11.

“I appeal to the state government and the local government in Sena Madureira to determine with the competent bodies whether this is true so they can claim a place in the Guinness Book of Records for the oldest man on the Earth. And he’s from our region.”

Politics / Dasukigate:CJN Denies Being At War With Buhari, EFCC Over Court Orders by wholexy009(m): 7:38am On Jan 14, 2016
The Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Justice Mahmud Mohammed, yesterday, said that contrary to claims that he had fallen out with pres. Buhari over his refusal to obey court orders granting bail to some suspects implicated in the loot of $2.1b meant for arms procurement, he was not at war with the president or any agency of the government.

A top official said that though there were concerns among judges that some of their judgment in granting bail to suspects by some government agencies, there was also annoyance in the judiciary that many judges had aided and abetted top government officials to loot the treasury through frivolous orders and injunctions which were against the interest of the country and its people.
The senior official close to the CJN said:

“I don’t think that the CJN has issued any statement on any court order relating to the investigation of the arms cash, individuals or groups since he believes that the courts are well able to discharge their duties as enshrined in the laws of Nigeria.

“Again, the thinking in the judiciary seems to be that some judges misused their offices to encourage some corrupt key government functionaries to slip away to foreign land with huge public funds under the guise of seeking avant-garde Medicare.

“If the question may be asked, was it the CJN that ordered those judges to work against the interest of Nigeria by granting frivolous orders that enabled corrupt Nigerian public officers to make away with public funds?

“Let it be known that the CJN does not and will never encourage any form of misdeed having taken the oath of office to remain incorruptible, just and firm in the discharge of his duties to Nigeria and its people.

“I can tell you that the CJN is aware of the frivolous orders being issued by some judges and he cannot, therefore, sympathize with people who threw their integrity to the winds when they should have done the right thing at the right time.”

Politics / Re: Report: Govt Officials Earn N1.126tr Yearly (PIX) by wholexy009(m): 9:06am On Dec 21, 2015
The document, dated October 2015 and exclusively obtained by The Nation, has been presented to the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari and the National Assembly.

Based on the statistics of the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), the breakdown of the list of the 17,474 beneficiaries includes Federal Executive(472); Federal Legislature(464); Federal Judiciary(142); State Executive(2,664); State Legislature (1,152); State Judiciary(792); LGA Executive (3,096); and LGA Legislature (8,692).

The Policy Brief document reads in part: “The total number of persons benefiting from this fat remuneration in all tiers of government is put at 17, 474 and it costs the Federal Government N173.656billion every year.

“ For state governments, the total cost is N360.091billion while local governments pay N592.865billion every year.

“This raises issues of social justice and the relativity of their remuneration to that of the workers in the same Nigerian economy. The N173.656billion required at the federal level to pay these public officials who are 1,078 in number will pay the N18,000 minimum wage of 9,647,574 workers.

“Of course, the remuneration of other categories of public workers did not take into consideration the need to give them a living wage that will pay for a dignified existence.

“This foregoing raises issues of Social Justice in a country of about 170million persons; whether it is right to dedicate this quantum of resources to service thus infinitesimal percentage of the population.

“For all qualifying for this jumbo pack across the states and local governments of the federation, their number comes up to 17,474 which is 0.010 per cent of the population. The Federal government spends N173.656billion for the huge salaries which in 2015 amounts to 3.87 per cent of the budget.

“There is a wide disparity between the very low minimum wage and apparently outrageous fringe benefits and allowances of these special public officers. The salaries and allowances of these public officers are in far contrast to the minimum wage approved for Grade Level 1 civil servants.

“There should be an equitable relationship between the highest paid, lowest paid and averagely paid public officials.”

The NLC, NBA, TUC and 40 others said the opportunity cost of such a huge expenditure on political office holders is great for the nation.

The document added: “The sums spent over and above what is reasonable in maintaining these public office holders could have been spent on other items of public expenditure. What can the sum of N173.656 spent at the federal level to maintain public, political and judicial office holders pay for? A few examples will make the case for a review:

*Bi-Courtney Highway Services Limited was engaged to expand the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway to 10 lanes (five on each side of the road) from Lagos to Shagamu and six lanes from Shagamu to Ibadan. It was also expected to build trailer parks and five interchanges amongst other things at a cost of N89.5billion. Essentially, a little over 50 per cent of the sum deployed to these payments can finance the Lagos-Ibadan road project.

*At a cost of $1m per new megawatt of electricity, 50 per dent of the sum dedicated to paying these benefits can add 432.5megawatts of electricity every year.

* At a cost of N5m for a new classroom for 40 students, 50 per cent of this sum can finance 17,300 brand new classrooms.

“The Bunu Committee set up to consider the state of ongoing projects in Nigeria, identified 11,700 abandoned or ongoing projects across the country which requires over N10trillion to complete. The country needs to fund this gap by increasing capital allocations in the budget and reducing recurrent expenditure.”

On budget implementation, the document also claimed that the nation had been spending less than 23 per cent per annum on capital projects.

It said personnel cost had crossed the 40 per cent threshold.

It added: “Budget implementation, especially the capital component, has averaged less than 23 per cent per annum dud to a number of factors including paucity of funds.

“Fewer new jobs have been created while the external reserves are down. The personnel vote as a percentage of overall government expenditure over a seven-year period shows that it has crossed the 40 per cent threshold and this affects the capacity of the economy to embark on investment programmes, thus impairing growth and development of the economy.

“When personnel cost is pitched against retained revenue, it shows that personnel costs have been 54.14 per cent of the retained revenue over the last seven years.

“The foregoing leads to one inescapable conclusion-the need to reduce the cost of governance.”

The groups made some recommendations in the Policy Brief as follows:

* RMAFC and other arms of government should revise and amend the Certain Political, Public and Judicial Office Holders(Salaries and Allowances, etc) (Amendment) Act No. 1 of 2008 so as to reduce the allowances of public and political office holders.

* The basic salaries of the Executive are reasonable and should not be reduced but the allowances and perks of office should be reduced by a minimum of 40 per cent.

* Constituency allowance of 250 per cent of basic salary for the President and Vice President respectively should be scrapped.

* The allowances and perks of office of the Judiciary should be retained since their works demand probity and incorrigibility at the highest level.

* The considerations for the above review should be tied to current economic realities and macroeconomic fundamentals and be relative to the salaries, remuneration and allowances of other public servants.

*The review of the salaries and emoluments of public office holders should be done at more frequent intervals. A review every four years us recommended.

*New laws reviewing the allowances of political, public and judicial office holders should no longer be made to have retroactive effect.

*Considering the need to improve health services in Nigeria, Federal Government should consider a ban on overseas medical treatment for public officials using public resources.”

Report: Govt officials earn N1.126tr yearly
