Due to space constraints and other issues, many developed and developing Nations adopted best practices for livestock. Ranching isn't perfect but it is continually evolving to overcome challenges. Your diatribes and your skirting over the issues (of average farmers like my Uncle) is probably a pointer to the kind of apathy of those in power. Food security is highly important!

That failures have been recorded in the past doesn't mean we should scrap all efforts to solve or adapt better solutions suited to our problems. Many articles on failures and advancements on ranches in Nigeria. Prior to 'Tomato Jos', tomato yields in the North were dire but now it is reaching record yields with a factory on the way?

Imposing a system that does not sit well with other demographics is only going to lead to resentment. Pity some here are interested in shiny new weapons, fancy gears et al without wholesome pictures of fighting battles that could be better avoided.


Pointers to this would be good and valuable. Cheers

Herders on transit does not mean they would not trespass someone's farm or allotment when out of sight.

My Uncle's farm in Kabba lies fallow because of nomadic grazing or is he a second class citizen where cows and man gazumps his land but he cannot respond or chaos ensues.

That I used to allow an entity access to my well doesn't mean they become entitled to demand water or break my wall when I decide to fence it off for my own reasons. That grazing routes were allowed in the past doesn't mean it could continue forever. Our population is outstripping available spaces with land prices creeping up year on year.

High time the Northerners get with the time and embrace or start transiting to more modern forms of livestock rearing. That we have to spoon feed them via that process isn't a must. Same country gave us all equal opportunities to learn, become knowledgeable amongst others but their failure to embrace modern life should not be a burden for us all to endure.

Cow business is a private business. I once Sabi a man wey dey into the business in Ede, he get enclosure his cows dey, Government didn't give him a single kobo to start the business.

I've traveled to Osun and Oyo, most of the Yorubas rearing cows do have a ranch.

They just put the cows in an enclosure, they feed them with grass and water inside. When next am traveling to Ede, I will snap pictures of ranches for you. Them just just stick to make the enclosure.

Very soon, people wey dey into catfish business, piggery,poultry go dey ask for money to build an enclosure for their animals.

I'm not against cattle ranching, I'm against cattles moving around and destroying farmlands. I've seen a farmland cattles grazed on in Ekiti, you would never know there were crops on than land a day before.

What is the FG doing in getting back is #100b from the 36 states Governors?

If you see them on your farmland and chase them away, they will com back in the night.

The Fulanis should go and ask their state Governors about the #100b release in 2014 for building ranches. Is not as if it was giving to only Southern Governors.

There is a lot of other news of Fulanis destroying people farmland all over Nigeria. This can't continue.

This can't stop states that have decided to pass anti-grazing bill.

Any Fulani that is not happy with the open grazing bill in the south is free to go back to their state of origin, some are not even Nigerians.

A Southern Governor do not owe a Fulani man running his cow business any ranch.

Any Fulani walking around with cattles should be arrested and their cows confiscated. The law is the law.

Karimi, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, recalled how the Federal Government raised a committee chaired by a former Governor of Benue State, Mr. Gabriel Suswam, to investigate the frequent conflicts between herdsmen and farmers.

He told the House that the Suswam committee found out that existing grazing routes had been encroached upon and “should be recovered and improved upon.”

Karimi added that, as a result of the findings of the committee, it recommended “the release of N100bn through the CBN as seed funding to all states for the construction of ranches.”

He added that though the money was released without the approval of the National Assembly, there was no evidence of how it was utilised.

“There has not been any ranch constructed anywhere in the country to account for the expenditure of the money,” he said.

The FG can't keep quiet about Sharia in Nigeria, but supporting Miyatti Allah in going to court to challenge Southern Governors on the anti grazing bill law.

A Southerner have the right to drink beer in Kano if Miyatti Allah feels they have the right to be walking up and down with cows all over the country.

A court have even proscribe the movement of cows all over Nigeria as illegal, and nobody appealed it.

Southern House of Assembly pass a law on anti grazing, the federal government is saying such a law is not possible? Can you imagine that kin of statement in a federal system of government

The Attorney General is backing Miyatti Allah on their quest to go to court and sue the Southern Governors

But the AG is quiet on some state operating Sharia law in a circular state like Nigeria.

You can operate Sharia law and limit the right of southerners, but you're against anti grazing law

Since 2019, why the FG never charge am to court? Or there was a deal he won't be charge to court if he voluntarily resign

A department of the FG that do make sure the FG follows federal character, GMB appoint Northerners as the top two, a position which is suppose to be shared between the North and South. Some of his ministers have been accused of been corrupt why he no treat them like he treated Onnoghen

No denying there aren't underlying issues in other parts of Nigeria with ideological issues binding them. E.g I believe cultism is a simmering issue that could threaten the fabric of society and state if not curtailed and actors, sponsors, jailed before their cancer spreads.

That the North is mentioned often is just down to current dynamics and the level of funding deployed to shut down threats to almost no avail.

The NASCO revelation for example, should have been exposed and adequate actions taken.

The country cant get worse than it is,. China went after elites in it's corruption war nothing happened... Govt should have proof that is undeniable and go after them, expose them in court proceeding and ensure thier conviction... As long as one particular group of pple are not targeted e.g prosecuting only your as or igbos... No one would give two cents ..
The problem as with Nigerians is playing the ethnic game.
If we don't go after the sponsors we know now, others will feel invincible and continue their evil deeds... This needs to stop.

From the clusterfuck we're in, can it be postulated that core northern states and some parts of their population willingly or unwillingly have been engaged in acts in parallel with the Nigerian state and constitution under guise of religion.

Where do we go from here or stop this in its tracks?

Infact I feel like Islam brings out the worst in people, the Muslims themselves and those that stay close to them.

Monks are known to be the most peaceful people in the world but they can't live with Muslims. Same for Hinds and Muslims in India. Same for Christians and Muslims in Central African Republic. And now the same thing is happening in Mozambique. The people over there would start hating Muslims until the eventually become like them.

They always live together until the Muslims attack.

1. Patrol by security personnel has increased because a lot of VIPs and there families pass there often
2. Coordination between security personnel and village's (vigilante) has help to reduce crime.
3. Is the raining season rivers are filled so there is less escape routes, ones there is attack know crossing points will be surveilled for ambush
