as much as tight regulations are needed, i will never advise anyone to buy a land in a country/state they dont reside in (let alone, a land they have NOT seen with their own 2 eyes and/or check thoroughly its documents)... but sadly, the reality of the matter is that, even if all is in tight order, the person (or even family member) you put in charge of keeping tab on your investment could be the one who defraud you..

Your family need not be involved in all your dealings,you know.Nigerians buy properties abroad without hassles.What we need for the real estate market to thrive is an open and transparent process of aquisition.One where the interests of the investor(s) are protected by law and a legal system that will guarantee justice for everyone.

The CONSTRUCTION COST of a building is determined by several factors namely:
1.Building Design
2.Site conditions(soil type)
3.Accessibility to the site
4.Owner's taste

It is clear from the above listed that these factors will always vary from person to person.
Since yours are not known i'll give you the lower threshold:N25m

I often see inquiries on forums like Nairaland on the cost of building say a 3 bedroom bungalow.

This is not an easy question to answer because there are a lot of factors to consider when estimating new home construction costs.

For every building project,there are two kinds of cost estimates:approximate estimate and detailed estimate.Approximate estimate is a quick estimate which you can obtain by multiplying the floor area of a building by the rate per square metre derived from previous experience of the cost of similar building.It gives you an idea of how much your house could cost so you can budget for it.On the otherhand a detailed estimate is based on properly prepared bill of quantities.This is a document containing measurements of all items required to construct the building.The bill of quantities(BoQ) is a more reliable estimate and is especially important if you intend obtaining a bank loan to build the house.

1. Multi unit means a building with multiple apartments (2, 3, 4, etc.) in it. So, may be you are living in one of the units and you rent out the rest.
2. That would be my guess. At least you'll need an SSN. A student visa will allow you to get one.
3. I believe the example he gave is referencing a multi unit. Where rent from all the units covers the mortgage. So, you are living for free. And of course building equity in the property.

Bricklayers normally don't get paid standardized sum like you mentioned.Quite a number of them get paid a negotiated amount depending on the employer.This is on a daily basis when and if ever they find work to do.Most of the time you find quite a number of them going days without work.So the N6000 daily is actually an illusion.
