ahizih:The Nigerian Security Organisation (NSO) was formed from the special branch of the Nigerian police and remained the sole agency for internal and external intelligence gathering up until the coming of IBB.In 1986 NSO was then broken up into SSS(internal intelligence) and NIA(external intelligence). The new DG SSS in effect started working with the NSO. |
akman:Your last assertion is incorrect.Mr Raymond Nkemdirim (current Director Operations NHQ)was the State Director in Bayelsa during the Alamieyeseigha imbroglio. He was succeeded by Mr Bassey Eteng. |
In the event that he decides to intervene, the presidential spokesman said Buhari would not do that to the level of imposing leaders on the lawmakers. Shehu said Buhari’s position on the matter had remained that the National Assembly is an independent arm of government and he would not be seen meddling in their affairs. . http://www.punchng.com/news/why-buhari-wont-intervene-in-nass-crisis-aide/[/quote]It appears mr president isn't politically savvy. The success of his government lies in the hands of a 'friendly' NASS leadership. As a party man he must show more than a passing interest in the goings on at the NASS.Choosing not to INTERFERE in their affairs is tantamount to political harakiri!! |
sweatlana:It is very obvious the president is politically naïve.As a party man he must not only show interest in what plays out at the NASS but also take active part in the goings on.The success/failure of his government lies squarely in the hands of a 'friendly' NASS leadership. So it comes down to political naivety when the president said he wasn't going to INTERFERE. |

lalasticlala:News just coming in say the Rivers State Independent electoral commission RSIEC has fixed local govt elections for May 23rd 2015.Reports reaching us say that the commission has given all political parties till May 6th to submit the names of their candidates for the election. It would be recalled that the tenure of elected council bosses in Rivers sate elapsed in 2013.The councils have been under the headship of caretaker committees appointed by the state governor.RSIEC had in the past attributed its inability to conduct elections into local councils to the paucity of funds. It puts the sum of N5bn as the estimated cost for the elections. The stage is now set for the battle of supremacy between the APC and PDP. |

Oduduwaboy:Did you say WE?The CHANGE of guards at the presidency was the result of a vicious and malicious gang-up of a powerful cabal against a sitting president. The masses(WE) had very little to do here.We were only used as a means to that end.Any one doubting this assertion should try and CHANGE this president without the CABAL. |
00francis:Get your facts right. The judicial service commission(JSC) puts forward 3 nominees to the NJC who recommends one and forward same to the governor for appointment. This process was put in place for checks and balance in selecting a chief judge. The governor chose to disregard NJC's recommendation. |
So Ambode was picked by His majesty, the Oba.I thought he emerged from the APC gubernatorial primaries |

I just saw it too.The post has been modified by the insertion of .."and that made me decide Buhari must win"...into the original post. This is dishonesty at its best.PDP lied in their documentary, now APC(Lai Mohammed) lied by doctoring this post.He that goes to equity......... BuddhaPalm: |
Just stumbled upon this on facebook.Could this be true?"By 1960, shortly after Nigeria's independence, the Prime Minister, Alhaji Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, had directed the Principal of King's College, Lagos, Mr. P.H. Davies, to provide places, annually, for at least 15 boys from the North, whether or not they passed the requisite regular entrance examination." --- Col. Ben Gbulie (rtd) in "Nigeria's Five Majors" p. 36, published first in 1981. "In an attempt to catch up militarily with the South, the Northern politicians had thrown out all discretion. They had lowered standards of admission drastically, settling for the minimum. For as I recalled, all the Northerners in my intake had been trained at the Mons Officer Cadet School in Aldershot. And they had become officers after barely six months of military training, whereas those of us who had been sent to Sandhurst had had to do two long years to earn the Queen's Commission. The implications were quite clear - and most disturbing. Not only had these Northerners become commissioned officers before we were half-way through our first year at Sandhurst, they had all risen to the enviable rank of Captain before we could even appear at the sovereign's parade which served essentially as a prerequisite for our passing out as Second Lieutenants." --- Col. Ben Gbulie (rtd) in "Nigeria's Five Majors, pages 12 - 13, Published 1981. "By 1964 a group of young Nigerian officer-cadets, mostly Northerners, had been declared academically unfit and hence repatriated by the Canadian military authorities. These cadets were however pronounced commissioned by the Nigerian Federal Government no sooner than they had arrived at the Ikeja Airport. Consequently they had had to be absorbed into the Nigerian Army as commissioned officers, even though they had received no requisite military training." ----- Col Ben Gbulie (rtd) in "Nigeria's Five Majors" page 13, published 1981. "Zak (Maimalari) had held the rank of Captain in 1960. But before my return from the United Kingdom in 1963, he had soared to the top rank of Brigadier. In other words, he had risen from Captain to Temporary/Major, to Substatntive/Major, to Temporary/Lieutenant-Colonel, to Substantive/Colonel and then to Brigadier, all within that short span of time. It was just scandalous" ----- Col. Ben Gbulie (rtd) in "Nigeria's Five Majors" page 13, published 1981 |
How sad.I met Maj SK Umoru briefly in feb 2014 at the headquarters of 29bn portharcourt barracks where he served as 2i/c.I was commissioned to design and build the new quarter guard. He was a nice and gentle officer.I remember on one occassion when we were about to commence construction,he walked up to me and said 'architect please do a good job'.Now I hear he is no more!May God grant his soul eternal rest.Sleep on officer and gentleman. |
CHANGE,the latest entrant in our political lexicon.the mantra of the opposition party.Need I ask, what are we changing? The executive, symbolized by pres Jonathan and the pdp?the legislature symbolized by pdp, apc,Lp and the rest? or both?Unconfirmed sources put the annual take home of a senator at over $2m per annum!Paid to PDP,APC,LP senators.Same scenario plays out in the lower chamber. This outrageous sum goes out annually in the face of current economic realities in Nigeria.A nation where the average worker earns less than $1500 per annum. Is the legislature captured in the CHANGE the opposition party advocates? Nigerian's must realise that politicians across party divides are united in the rape and plunder of our commonwealth.Should GMB and the opposition succeed in CHANGING the executive(Jonathan and pdp)come 2015,his first task at cleansing the augean stable would be 'CHANGING' the legislature. But,can he? |
olabukola:Isoko in Rivers state?Brother, are you for real? |
As GMB gets set to clinch the APC ticket,a myriad of questions agitate my mind.......a nation's leadership is derived from amongst its people, hence the leader is a reflection of the society. Are Nigerians ready for a 'CHANGE'?The kind that a Buhari leadership portend? Are Nigerians ready to put an end to circumvention of due process for personal gain? Can Buhari wield the power to make the drastic needed change in Nigeria's socio politico milieu that requires redefinition? Can Buhari in Agbada, nay Khaki bestride Nigeria's plitical hemisphere like he did in 1983 without the encumberance of a corrupt and inept national assembly? Will the national assembly members whose sole aim of aspiring to the hallowed chambers is to have their hand on our collective patrimony for personal agrandisement allow the passage of bills that will clamp down on corruption and corrupt individuals?Nigerians must realise that CHANGE must come from within.A clear departure from the norm is demanded of every Nigerian.Rumours have it that the PDP and APC primaries were dollarised and will require recouping when the prize (presidency) is won.Can we trust these political merchants to bring about the CHANGE we so desperately crave?Change can only come from the people.......not from any Man.#nay Jonathan#nay Buhari |
