I've seen and heard a lot of people say what has an iPhone got to offer that Samsung doesn't even offer more. Of recent its a case of bragging rights now and maybe show off too. A friend once told me "hey bro, don't kill yourself over getting an iPhone, its just overrated". And recently these two giants have been engaged in a kinda fierce battle (from my point of view) of who wins a greater market share and thus have produced spectacular models of their phones of which recently, Apple launched the iPhone SR, Max, etc models while Samsung recently launched its S9 Plus and Note 9 variants.

Terms like shutdown, sleep, and hibernate are common to most users. If you use your computer regularly, then, you might be familiar with hybrid sleep and most recently fast startup. All of these are various power management modes to reduce power consumption of your computer while you're away. A common thought might have sparked among most of the users Shutdown The process involves disconnecting the power supply to the machine. The state (services and apps are running at the moment) of the operating system is not retained before initiating the shutdown process. So, when you boot your machine next time, the system loads with its default (sick)ettings and services. The machine takes longer than other power management modes. Sleep Once the Sleep mode (standby in earlier Windows) is called for action, the machine enters a low power mode. The power supply to the components, except the RAM, gets disconnected. RAM retains the state of the computer till the time. When the machine wakes up, all the services and apps previously running get back to their normal operation. Sleep mode automatically turns on most of the machines as a measure to conserve power. Hibernation In this process, the power is cut from the system. So, how it is different from Shutdown? In hibernation, the state of the system is transferred to the hard drive as a file before disconnecting the power source. The state of the system is reinstated when the system is powered on. Hibernation is beneficial over sleep mode as it saves more amount of power but the machine takes more time to wake up in comparison to sleep. Hybrid Sleep The hybrid sleep mode is a combination of hibernation and sleep mode. The state of the system is stored on the hard drive and then the machine enters a low power mode. The main advantage of the hybrid sleep mode is that if there is a power outage when the machine is sleeping, the state of the machine is safe as it is stored on the hard drive. Fast Startup This mode has made a debut with the launch of Windows 10. It is a combination of the hibernation and the shutdown process. Similar to hibernation, the state of the machine is saved on the hard drive but it only includes the basic services that load on the system startup. It doesn't include other non-essential apps, like your video player or any third party apps. Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) has blamed a programming error in the automated serviceability calculator that forced the bank to pay $180,000 in infringement fines. The bank also had to write off a huge sum of loan balances.This programming error played a pivotal role in approving personal account overdrafts applications that should've faced rejection. As a result, the Australian Securities & Investment Commission (ASIC) imposed a heavy fine on the bank. According to ASIC, CBA approved such 9,577 applications (that have otherwise been declined) and 1,152 others for higher limits. Overall, the customers affected by the error account for fewer than 2 percent of the total personal overdraft customers. What was the programming error that caused this loss? The review revealed that this blunder affected the accounts between July 2011 and September 2015. When looking into the customers' applications, the calculator didn't factor in the living and housing expenses. Basically, it entered $0, which was, obviously, lesser than customers' actual expenses.ASIC feared that this incident breached the responsible lending laws. It levied four infringement notices on the bank, totaling $180,000 fine on the bank. To balance the programming error, CBA has advised ASIC to write off a hefty sum of $2.5 million. "We sincerely apologize to our customers and we regret that this error occurred," CBA head of retail products and strategy Clive van Horen said in a statement.Here's ASIC's complete statement.Did you find this article interesting? A number of Deposit Money Banks in the country will close many of what they described as unprofitable branches as the economic recession continues to bite harder, investigation by our correspondent has shown. It was similarly gathered that most of the banks would lay off hundreds of workers between now and December. The revelation came barely 24 hours after Unity Bank Plc laid off about 300 workers, more than the 220 that was mentioned last week. Diamond Bank Plc, Ecobank and Skye Bank Plc had earlier in the year sacked over 3,000 members of their workforce. It was learnt that following the economic downturn in the country, a number of bank branches could no longer justify their existence as cost analysis had shown that the financial institutions were spending more on salaries and overheads than the income from the branches. Some top bank executives, who confirmed the development to our correspondent under the condition of anonymity on Monday, said some lenders might be forced to relieve more workers of their duties before the end of this year. An executive director in one of the banks that recently asked some of its workers to go said, "We have laid off some of our staff members but that it still not enough. Many branches are just existing for the sake of being there. They are not generating enough income. What they are bringing in is far less than what the bank is incurring as costs on them. "We may have to close such branches before the year ends. I know a number of other banks that are planning something similar." Commenting on the development, an ex-banker and Chief Executive Officer, Cowry Asset Management Limited, Mr. Johnson Chukwu, described branch closure as an ongoing action in the banking sector, especially in times of economic downturn. He, however, noted that banks were required to notify the Central Bank of Nigeria before closing any branch. "It is an ongoing administrative thing in the banking industry. Banks will want to rationalise branches, especially in a difficult economy. Banks are planning to cut costs. Branch rationalisation is normal but the CBN has to be notified," Chukwu explained. The banking sector has been facing a number of challenges following the downturn in economic activities. The slowdown in the economy, which has led to a high rate of non-performing loans in the banking system, made four lenders to lose at least N17bn in profits in the first quarter of this year. Specifically, Ecobank Transnational Incorporated, Guaranty Trust Bank Plc, Unity Bank Plc and Diamond Bank Plc recorded a combined decline of N17bn in their profits before tax for the three months ended March 31, 2016, when compared with the corresponding period of 2015, according to the results of the financial institutions posted on the website of the Nigerian Stock Exchange.

The Indigenous People of Biafra has said its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, is critically ill in Kuje prison. The group said it got the information from Kanu's lawyers who visited him recently, In a statement issued by the Publicity Secretary of IPOB, Emma Powerful, on Saturday, the group said Kanu was suffering from chest and abdominal pains as well as a violent cough. The group alleged that Kanu's poor health might not be unconnected with the bad treatment he had been allegedly subjected to by prisons officials. It called on the international community to prevail on President Muhammadu Buhari to allow its leader to have access to medical treatment. The statement read, "We have notified the international community about his present condition which include debilitating abdominal pains and occasional tightening of the chest resulting in cough, which has persisted. "The Department of State Services has this information in its record and we suggest it makes it public for the world to know. Kanu's loss of blood through bleeding from the nose prompted the agency to send in an external doctor to examine him while in their custody." The group also declared its support for the United States Republican Party's presidential candidate, Donald Trump. The group ranked Trump among other world leaders such as Vladimir Putin of Russia, Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel, and Angela Merkel of Germany. It said Americans and the world should be desirous to see Trump as the next US President. It also expressed hope that if Trump became the President of the US, he would address "the plight of Biafrans." The statement added, "We are calling on the international community, world leaders like Vladimir Putin of Russia, Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel, Angela Merkel of Germany and Donald Trump, whom the good people of America, to come and make the US greater. These leaders and others who recognise the ideals of freedom for all should come to our rescue." The group decried the DSS' declaration of the wife of its leader, Uchechi and one Powerful as wanted persons. "The DSS should have known that IPOB is a non-violent organisation committed to the liberation of the people of Biafra and has not been involved in any violent act or crime during its protests in Nigeria and across the globe," the group added.
