Technology MarketMicrosoft Would Be Killing Windows 8 Support Next Week by willo4eva(op): 5:28pm On Jan 11, 2016
I just stumbled on an article on
www.fossybytes.com claiming that Microsoft would
soon stop further support for the dreaded and
mostly user-unfriendly Windows 8. Below is an
excerpt from the website.
" Short Bytes: Microsoft is ending Windows 8
support on January 12th. These odd state of
affairs are a result of Microsoft’s treatment of
Windows 8.1 as a service pack to Windows 8.
Well, if you are running Windows 8 on your
PC, there are 3 options for you — upgrade to
Windows 8.1, upgrade to Windows 10, or
downgrade to Windows 7.
Windows 8 was released just three years ago. One
might easily assume that their not-so-great OS
came with Microsoft’s regular 10-year support
policy. However, there’s a twist in Windows 8
support cycle — as a result, it runs out on
January 12th. So, if you are running Windows 8,
it’s time to upgrade.
But, how did this happen? Over the past years, we
have learned that Windows Vista will continue
getting security updates until April 11, 2017, and
Windows 7 users will get the same until January
14, 2020. So, how is Microsoft treating Windows 8
differently? "
But Why Is Microsoft Ending Windows 8 Support
Next
Week?
"Further excerpts from the site says:
On January 12, Microsoft will be rolling out its
first Patch Tuesday of 2016 that will be the last
batch of Windows 8 updates.
The reason? Well, Microsoft is treating Windows
8.1 just as a service pack for Windows 8 users.
According to the rules, you can hold off installing
a service pack just for two years. If you want to
read the exact words said by Redmond, here they
are:
Windows 8, support ends 24 months after the
next service pack releases or at the end of the
product’s support lifecycle, whichever comes
first. If you are using software without the
latest service pack you won’t be offered any
new security or non-security updates,
although preexisting updates will continue to
be offered.
With Windows 8.1, Microsoft promised tons of bug
fixes, new features, and enhancements. While
Windows 8.1 reaches its end of support on
January 10, 2023, the end of Windows 8 has finally
arrived."
Here comes The Big Question – What Should I Do
Now?
If you choose to ignore this news, your Windows 8
PC will be exposed to unpatched security risks. So,
to avoid those, fossBytes advises you to consider
these options:
Upgrade to Windows 8.1: >>>
If you love Windows 8 and want something familiar,
go for it as Windows 8.1 is a free upgrade for
Windows 8 users. Windows 8.1 comes with support
until January 10, 2023.
Upgrade to Windows 10:>>>
There’s also an option to upgrade your PC to the
latest Windows iteration i.e. Windows 10. Again, it’s
free of charge and a few clicks away. Windows 10
comes with support until October 14, 2025.
Downgrade to Windows 7: >>>
The support for Windows 7 lasts until January 14,
2020. If you are in love with the world’s most
popular OS, go for it.
While Microsoft could justify this step by calling it
straight from the rulebook, it could also be seen as
a strategy to lure users into upgrading to
Windows 10.
So, which path are you going to follow? Let us
know in the comments below.

SportsLahm Says Teamwork Was Key To German Glory by willo4eva(op): 1:28am On Jul 14, 2014
Germany captain Philipp
Lahm hailed his side’s collective ability as they
downed Lionel Messi’s Argentina 1-0 to win the World
Cup for fourth time in Rio de Janero on Sunday.
Substitute Mario Goetze grabbed the only goal of the
game in extra time as Argentina paid for missing a
host of good chances through Gonzalo Higuain, Messi
and Rodrigo Palacio to take the lead.
“It’s unbelievable what we have achieved. Whether
we have the best individual player doesn’t matter at
all, you just need to have the best team,” said the
Bayern Munich defender.
“We improved throughout the tournament and didn’t
get down when things didn’t always go our way, we
just stuck to our path and at the end we’re standing
here as world champions.

Car TalkPeugeot Nigeria Rolls Out Peugeot 301 In Commercial Qty by willo4eva(op): 12:24am On Jul 14, 2014
While those who killed our farmers earning
capacity and industries through their
CLUELESS importation of everything
including rice, milk, sugar and other
Essential Commodities (Essenco) through
the Nigerian National Supply Company
(NNSC) are fulfilling their promise of
"monkeys & baboons soaked in blood", the
Jonathan/Sambo team is slowly but STEADILY
REVIVING those moribund sectors
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
++++++++++++++++++++++ +
Peugeot Automobile Nigeria Limited is
consolidating its leadership in the nation's car
manufacturing sector with the launching of the
Peugeot 301 in commercial quantity in Nigeria,
an official of the company has said.
The Managing Director of the company, Mr
Ibrahim Boyi, said the company was in full
support of the government's Automotive
Industrial Development Programme and had
designated about 24,000 square metres within
its premises in Kaduna State for the Local
Components Park.
Representatives of the Federal Government
and the management of the Peugeot
Automobile Nigeria, on Saturday, had a feel of
what the vehicle looked like, as they were
taken round the park to inspect the Peugeot
Components Auto Cluster Park.
The Automotive Industrial Development
Programme is aimed at promoting local
automobile production and reducing the
importation of used cars.
Nigeria spends the sum of 4.2 billion Naira on
importation of vehicles in 2010 alone and
higher figures in 2011 and 2012.
Importation has continued to increase,
boosting the economies of countries
where the vehicles are manufactured
while the indigenous automobile
companies have continued to face low
patronage.
To tackle this challenge, grow the Nigerian
economy and create more jobs, the
Federal Government of Nigeria introduced the
automotive policy that would support the
establishment of automobile companies in
Nigeria and the revival of the metal steel and
tyre manufacturing industries. This has started
yielding some results.
The manufacturing of the Peugeot vehicle has
placed Nigeria in the league of automobile
producing countries.
At the launch of the site for the automotive
cluster pack and flag-off of local production of
Peugeot vehicles in Kaduna, the Minister of
Commerce Trade and Investment, Olusegun
Aganga, said that the government would
ensure that the automotive policy would not
only be implemented but sustained beyond
the present administration.
"The automotive industry development plan
took account of the problems that led to the
collapse of the industry in the past and was
developed after extensive consultations with
the executives of the existing local auto
manufacturers. That is why we plan to
establish auto-skills and auto-companies
parts in three parts of the country, " he
said.
Mr Aganga further said that the
government would launch a vehicle
financing scheme to make funds
available to Nigerians for the purchase of
made in Nigeria vehicles under the new
automotive policy.
The Minister said that the scheme would be
launched within four months and would
involve the collaboration of local and foreign
banks.
The former head of state, General
Yakubu Gowon, lamented that
indigenous automobile company, which
used to be Nigeria's pride in the global
auto-industry, had been neglected by
successive governments.
"I hope that Nigerians will like to patronise this
more than ever before and I hope that there
would be no government policies that would
short change the automobile companies in the
future," General Gowon said.
The automobile company was able to
commence production within the shortest
period after the approval of National
Automotive Development Plan, a development
that confirms the company's leadership role in
the Nigerian automotive industry.
The unveiled Peugeot 301 was made from over
120 years of automotive experience in the
traditional Peugeot style of safety, comfort and
strength.
Over the next six to twelve months, the
company has promised to roll out the Peugeot
508 and 408 models while hoping that the
Federal Government will ensure the
implementation and compliance of the
automotive policy.
As Nigerians await the commencement of the
policy, industry players have emphasised
that the policy would be a mere mirage if
the companies are not supported to pick
up or protected from the influx of used
cars into Nigeria daily.

SportsNo African Player Listed As Fifa Nominees For Awards by willo4eva(op): 12:03am On Jul 14, 2014
The pathetic state of the Beautiful Game in Africa has
reflected in FIFA not listing any of the players that
featured for the continent's five representatives at
Brazil 2014 World Cup for individual honours.
Nigeria, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Cameroun and Algeria
represented Africa at Brazil 2014.
Only the Super Eagles and the Desert Foxes made it
to the Round of 16 before crashing out to France and
Germany respectively. One name noticeably absent
from the shortlist dominated by German players was
the USA goalkeeper, Tim Howard, who was left off the
three-man goalkeeping award despite his record
setting performance against Belgium in the round of
16 that ultimately wasn't enough to keep his team's
improbable World Cup run going. But before naming
those who were included, here are the nominees for
the Golden Ball award, which goes to the
tournament's best overall player:
GOLDEN BALL AWARD... Angel Di Maria, midfielder,
Argentina -Robin to Messi's Batman. Scored
Argentina's round of 16 winner before suffering a
thigh injury in the quarterfinals that ended his
tournament. Mats Hummels, defender, Germany -
One of the best defenders in this World Cup and he's
also contributed two goals. James Rodriguez,
midfielder, Colombia -The tournament's breakout
star and leading scorer with six goals. Toni Kroos,
midfielder, Germany - A vital cog in the German
machine. He's scored two goals and set up four
others. Philipp Lahm, midfielder/defender, Germany -
Germany's captain and most important player.
Whether in midfield or at his natural position of right
back, he's powered the team to the final. Javier
Mascherano, midfielder, Argentina -Has literally done
Argentina's dirty work. The man tore his anus while
preventing Arjen Robben from scoring late in the
semifinal. Lionel Messi, deity, Argentina - Despite
massive pressure, he's scored half of Argentina's
eight goals and set up Di Maria's in the round of 16.
Thomas Muller, striker, Germany - Five goals, three
assists and five stitches. Wherever he is, goals
appear like scarves out of a magician's sleeve.
Arjen Robben, genius and tumbling expert,
Netherlands - His diving got lots of attention, but he
led the Netherlands to an unexpected semifinal
appearance with three goals, one assist and all of
Mexico cursing his name Neymar, hope of a nation,
Brazil -Before suffering a back injury late in Brazil's
quarterfinal win over Colombia, Neymar carried the
host nation with four goals. Without him in the
semifinal, his teammates seemed more concerned
with paying tribute to their No. 10 than not losing by
six goals.
YOUNG PLAYERS... The Best Young Player Award
nominees are midfielder Paul Pogba and defender
Raphael Varane from France and Memphis Depay
from the Netherlands.
GOALKEEPERS And the three goalkeepers deemed
better than Tim Howard are shootout heroes Keylor
Navas of Costa Rica and Sergio Romero of Argentina,
plus the tournament's undeniable top keeper,
Manuel Neuer ofGermany.
GOLDEN BOOT... The Tournament's other individual
award, the Golden Boot, will, of course, go to whoever
scores the most goals. At the 2010 World Cup,
Uruguay's Diego Forlan won the Golden Ball, Spain's

Romance5 Simple Rules On How To Be A Good Kisser by willo4eva(op): 1:50pm On Jul 11, 2014
Kissing is pretty much the most intimate thing that you can do with someone. In fact, to some people it is more intimate than sex. Here is what actress Julia Roberts in her film Pretty Woman said “Sex is just friction, but kissing is like getting a glimpse of someone else’s soul.” The first kiss can make or break a relationship. So, here are some simple yet very effective tips to be a great kisser.

1. Be Involved
Did you think that kissing was just about your lips and your mouth? Kissing is a lot more than that. You ought to involve your whole body in the act. Feel free to caress your partner’s face and run your hands through his/her hair. Wipe your mind from all the worries when you are kissing. In case it is your first kiss then avoid touching full body, until you two have built up a good rapport.

2. Be soft and gentle
While kissing, do not open your mouth so much wider than your partner's that it appears as if you are trying to eat their head. In the initial seconds, go easy and close your eyes. Give the other person time to feel completely at ease. Also, grabbing someone's face is romantic as long as you are not holding their head to keep them from pulling away. Remember, you are kissing someone not trying to put him/her in a headlock. So be soft and gentle while kissing.

3. Do not swap spit
Some people think that you are not really kissing someone unless you don’t do their full dental examination with your tongue. The rule to remember here is that you are kissing someone, not excavating his/her mouth. Also, always try different types of kisses. French kiss is not the only kiss in the world. (Here look: 7 Types of Kisses for Passionate Lovemaking).
Not to do: Do not lick your lips as you go in for the kiss.

4. Do not bite
For the first kiss, follow the K-I-S-S principle, i.e. keep it simple silly! Use only your lips, not your tongue. As you two discover each other, you will get to know what your partner likes and exactly how much tongue you can use in a kiss. But re... [read more]

SportsQatar Unveils Sports Institute Ahead 2022world Cup by willo4eva(op): 11:02pm On Dec 10, 2013
In its determination to host a successful FIFA
World Cup in 2022, Qatar has unveiled the
Josoor Institute, a centre of excellence designed
to give world-class education and training
facilities to the people of Qatar, the Middle East
and North Africa.
The Centre was unveiled by Hassan Al Thawadi,
Secretary General of the Qatar 2022 Supreme
Committee, during the second annual Doha
Goals Forum.
According to a statement from the Qatar 2022
Supreme Council, the Josoor Institute will train
many of the people who will play an integral
role in Qatar’s hosting of the 2022 FIFA World
Cup, individuals who will then have the
knowledge to deliver large-scale sporting and
non-sporting events across the region long after
2022.
The Josoor Institute will teach courses on a
range of topics from running major events and
the business of football to creating a culture of
volunteering. Courses at the Josoor Institute
will combine classroom-based theory with
practical learning in a variety of ways:
Speaking at the event, Qatar’s Minister of Youth
and Sport, Salah bin Ghanim Al Ali said that he
was sure that the Josoor Institute will play an
important role in Qatar’s bid to deliver the best
ever World Cup in 2022.
“Increasing educational opportunities is central
to Qatar’s achieving the ambitious goals set out
in the Qatar National Vision 2030. We in Qatar
firmly believe that access to education and
enabling the transfer of knowledge are key to
the advancement of societies across the Middle
East.
“We believe that learning inspires young
people and provides a clear means to improve
their lives. That is why we aim to make sport a
way of life in Qatar.
“I strongly believe that the Josoor Institute will
create an exceptional opportunity for our
region. It will provide young people with new
opportunities to learn in and outside of the
classroom and enhance our ability to host
major sporting events. “The new knowledge it
will create has the power to inspire our young
people, providing them with the means to
become leaders in their communities and
societies.
“Finally, I am certain that the Josoor Institute
will play an important role in Qatar, by
preparing Qatari youth to assist in our great
nation’s hosting of a truly amazing 2022 FIFA
World Cup”, added Ali.
We gathered that the Qatar 2022 Supreme
Committee is a founding partner of the Josoor
Institute and is working alongside some of the
world’s leading universities, marketing
agencies, media outlets and events and sports
management companies to develop and deliver
the programmes and courses.
More than 1,000 participants are expected to
attend the Josoor Institute in the first full
operational year beginning in October 2014.
Georgetown University is working with the
Institute to provide an academic framework
and endorsement for coursework.
Although the Josoor Institute is still in
development, the first outreach course took
place on Monday 9th December. Over the next
two days a further 100 participants from

Science/TechnologyCBN To Create Hot Spots To Boost Internet Services by willo4eva(op): 10:40pm On Dec 10, 2013
The Governor of the Central Bank,
Malam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, says the apex
bank will partner some satellite system
companies to boost international
telecommunication services in the country by
creating hot spots.
Sanusi, who disclosed this at a meeting with a
World Economic Forum Group in Abuja on
Tuesday, said that the synergy would enhance
implementation of financial inclusion in
Nigeria.
The focus of the meeting was “Promoting
Global Financial Inclusion: Overcoming Key
Barriers through Public–Private Collaboration.’’
Sanusi identified lack of infrastructure as a
major challenge to the implementation of the
policy.
He said that the least expensive way of
deploying products was technology, but said
that the low level of internet penetration
around the country remained a problem.
He also said that excessive reliance on
telephone companies in the country had its
problems “because in this country,
telecommunication companies make a lot of
money from Small Message Service (SMS)”.
“But, the incentives to invest in order to have a
bandwidth are limited unless it has additional
commercial values.
“So, we have to figure out something and for
example, one of the things we have figured out
is to see if we can use some of the satellite
companies to drop internet across the country”.
According to him, the idea is to have internet
services in each of the 774 local government
headquarters in the country and to create hot
spots.
The hot spots, he said, would help to create
internet cafe, mobile agents, Point of Sales
(POS) operations, Automated Teller Machines
(ATM) operation, among others.
The apex bank governor said that financial
inclusion would not be achieved without strong
financial literacy and education to help people
to take decisions on personal financial issues.
On efforts of the bank to ensure financial
inclusion through Cashless policy, he said that
there had been continuous progress with the
policy.
“The simple example is on the POS; we started
with 11,000 terminals in the entire Lagos area
with less than 6,000 active POS terminals and
were doing transactions of N5 million to N10
million per day.
“Today, we have got more than 150 thousand
POS terminals in Lagos; about 20 per cent of
them are active and we are doing between
N1billion and N2.5 billion on POS transactions
daily,’’ he said
Sanusi said that there had been general
reduction in cash transactions in the country
and that banks would strive to harmonise the
Know-Your-Customer (KYC) policy to capture
persons that were excluded in the banking
system.
“A major bottleneck in the phase of financial
inclusion is the identification of customers with
a unique ID; I don’t know what it is in other
countries, but here it is serious,’’ he said.
According to him, without proper identification,
there will be a limit to the amount of money
that can be given to a customer for doing
business.
He said that the CBN would, on February 14,
2014, officially launch the second phase of the
biometric project, adding that the contract had
been awarded and that work on it was ongoing.
He said that the biometric project was to ensure
that every customer of a bank, a micro finance
company or any other financial system, was
captured on a central data-base.
“Once a customer has...

PhonesApple Reportedly Developing Curved Iphone Screens by willo4eva(op): 9:53am On Nov 12, 2013
Apple is developing iPhones with curved-glass
screens and enhanced sensors that detect
different levels of pressure, according to a new
report.
Two models — with screens of 4.7 inches and
5.5 inches —are in the works, and both would
use glass that curves downward at the edges,
Bloomberg reported, citing an anonymous
source familiar with the plans. These screen
sizes almost rival that of Samsung's Galaxy Note
3, which boasts a 5.7-inch screen
. For its part, Apple's iPhone 5S has a 4-inch
screen. The new phones would likely be
released in the
third quarter of next year, the source said,
adding that Apple is also testing "pressure-
sensitive technology," which won't be ready for
the next iPhone launch.
Curved glass has become a smartphone trend
among major tech companies. Samsung
released its Galaxy Round phone, which has a
5.7-inch curved display, while LG is set to
release its G Flex phone, which is curved from
top to bottom.
