Base on what I deduced from that write up the committee is set up to sort out the letters and give Akah for signing which commence tomorrow and end second week of September,,,,so it has nothing to do with payment rather the letters that will be given to us at the resumption of school by second week of September should be signed by Akah. Let us clearly read with understanding.

The Executive Chairman of the Rivers State Universal Basic Education Board Ven. Fyneface Akah this morning inaugurated the Promotion Letters Committee headed by Dr. Sam Obisike.

Addressing the committee members who also are staff drawn from the Board Headquarters and the Local Government Areas Akah advised them to be committed to the assignment given to them and ensure that they adhere strictly to what they have been instructed to do.

While assuring them of support and an enabling environment to do their work the Board Chairman cautioned against acts or behaviours capable of delaying the job as he would be ready to start signing the promotion letters from tomorrow and gave up to the second week of September 2023 as deadline to conclude the work.

In his speech, chairman of the committee Dr. Sam Obisike assured the chairman of the committee's readiness to deliver appropriately and thanked the Board for chosing them.

Part of the committee's work is to among things look at the date of employment and last promotion as well as grade levels.

Present at the inauguration ceremony this morning were Commissioner Services Dr. Precious Baridoo and Board Directors.

I don't understand

I dont think this write up means that new salary won't be paid this month.

I think signing of promotion letters is about to start and ending by second week of September by that time school has resume and collections consequently commence

In as much as am optimistic to see my new salary, I still have doubt in this government and it's implementation process. I spoke to someone who is at ministry of agriculture, he said only the senior cadres have received promotion letters last two weeks but junior cadres are yet to get.

We have said it here before now, argued and all that for more than 3months yet no payment.

I wonder why this new information is coming from. When we have not seen letters nor have we heard anything new.

If I may ask, this same people telling you guys that new salary will be paid, are they different from the persons who told you guys the other time?

I just have to wait and see. I am hopeful that we will be paid but let's trade with caution not to be disappointed when we see alert next week.

Finally, nothing our God cannot do. If e come we thank God, if e no come too, we still tank God.

WE IN THE CENTRAL PLANNING COMMITTEE WENT OUT EARLY IN THE MORNING TO CARRY OUT LOGISTICS, BUT WAS ADVISED TO PUT OFF THE MEETING FOR SECURITY REASONS, WHICH THIS HOUSE OBEYED, BUT STILL MONITORING THE HAPPENINGS..
THIS FALES ACCUSATIONS OF FIGHTING THE GOVERNMENT MADE THE GOVERNOR TO INVITE THE NUT CHAIRMAN AND HIS EXCOS TO THE GOVERNMENT HOUSE FOR A MEETING.

ON HEARING THIS, WE SENT ALL OUR PROTEST LETTERS AND PETITION TO THE GOVERNOR, COMMISSIONER OF EDUCATION,SSG, CHIEF OF STAFF AND SA TO GOVERNOR ON INTER GOVERNMENTAL AFFAIRS.
WHILE STILL AT DIOBU MONITORING EVENTS, THE DSS TRACKED ADONYE NUMBER AND TOOK HIM AWAY. THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME, SO WE SECRETLY SENT TEXT TO MADAM FLORENCE OGWUTUM WHO DROVE TO MEET US AT GOVERNMENT HOUSE GATE, SHOUTING WE ARE TEACHERS, THEN WE FINALLY GOT FAVOUR FROM THE GOVERNOR AND LEFT THE DSS SECURITY POST AND ENTERED THE GOVERNMENT HOUSE.

ON REACHING THERE, THE NUT CHAIRMAN WAS CALLED TO I IDENTIFY US BUT HE DENIED US THAT WE ARE NOT HIS TEACHERS, WE TOLD HIM THAT YOU DONT KNOW US BUT YOU ARE DEDUCTING OUR MONEY. BEFORE THE DSS TOOK US IN TO THE GOVERNOR'S CONFERENCE HALL

*MEETING WITH THE GOVERNOR*

THE GOVERNOR CAME TO THE MEETING WITH THE DEPUTY GOVERNOR, CHIEF OF STAFF, .HEAD OF SERVICE,COMMISSIONER FOR EDUCATION, AND PDP STATE CHAIRMAN.

WE STATED OUR POINTS BASED ON OUR DEMANDS AS IS IN OUR STRUGGLE AND THE NUT CHAIRMAN STATED HIS DEFENSE.

*RESOLUTION/ GOVERNOR'S DIRECTIVE*

1. THE GOVERNOR INSTRUCTED THAT ALL DEDUCTIONS ON THE BUILDING BE STOPPED IMMEDIATELY.

2. THE GOVERNOR, INSTRUCTED THE HEAD OF CIVIL SERVICE DR. GEORGE NWEKE AND THE COMMISSIONER FOR EDUCATION TO CALL THE TWO BODIES, (NUT AND US) TO RESOLVE ALL ISSUES.

3. THE GOVERNOR INSTRUCTED THAT THE COST OF THE REMAINING BUILDING BE SENT TO HIM , THAT HE WILL COMPLETE THE BUILDING.

4. THE GOVERNOR INFORMED US THAT THE PROMOTION OF UBE HAS BEEN APPROVED AND WILL BE IMPLEMENTED. BUT THAT OF SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOLS IS ON HOLD DUE TO NO CONSTITUTED BOARD, BUT THAT HE WILL CONSTITUTE THE BOARD NEXT WEEK SO AS TO CONCLUDE THEIR PROMOTION.

THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED TODAY.

Update on promotion

Today Monday, I was at the State Board headquarters at DLine. I heard the ogaz there have collected letter of promotion but the lower cadres in the same Board has not collected. I was reliably informed that out of the over 6,000 staff strength of sssb and ube, about 800 are going to level 16 from previous level of 12$13 respectively. That the governor is doing the implementations in batches as earlier stated here by others too. Yes, he is paying promotion arrears too. That he claimed, he is observing the amount involved as to know the financial strength of the state. They said, sssb, UBE and ministry of health has the highest financial amount from the state.

But based on the informations I pointed out and the ones I have not stated. Kindly remove your mind on promotion letter for now.
Like I will always tell us, yes God's favour and grace is available to all, and nothing is impossible with God.

For now, nothing new is happening at the board. So let's move on.

I don't understand why the Governor will be observing amount involved by wasting the whole time in the world when one can also know the amount by knowing the total number of workers and their respective new level calculated before the payment starts instead of paying some and leaving some behind all in the name of GOVERNOR OBSERVING AMOUNT INVOLVED. I doubt this information in its totality ,,, because it has never happened in the history of promotion of workers by promoting some and leaving some behind, unless it will start from this Government.

There have been a lot of speculations concerning this issue of promotion its implementation

The SSSB problem is that no substantive chairman. However, it's the government via commissioner for education will constitute the board committee for us. I wonder why an acting chairman can't do so because whoever that acts on such capacity is deemed to sign all signables as substantive head should have signed. Therefore, the government is holding both the yam and knife, she decides when to cut the yam and give to us.

Your promotion letters were ready since last month but what kept yours from being issued to you was because they erroneously gave our immediate senior grade level 12 instead of grade level 14. Due to that error their board chairman asked them to go back and redo it. They're almost done with it.
Meanwhile a friend of mine who has long legs has seen his own letters still in soft copy.
UBE just exercise small patience you shall get yours soonest. That's The latest.

I have no problem with the protest, because it may not happen knowing that teachers are very patient people by nature.

Besides, Naturally and Historically Teacher hardly protest, is almost possible to say they don't protest, the reason is simple, we have a government that doesn't care about their welfare

If old men and women can cry out after 35 years of service for their pension
And the government did not blink eyes, who are you.

Who protested before promotion was declared, Nobody.

Who protested for the interview to be done in 30days, Nobody.

Who have protested over 16 years No promotion under the govornors, Nobody sir.

Me am tired of all these uncertainties surounding this our promotion,,if they don't do anything now that we are on holidays and expect me to resume school by September with this same salary,,,they are joking

In line with the current realities in the country and commitment of our administration to ameliorate the effects of removal of fuel subsidy on the well-being of the good people of Ogun State, we have approved the following measures for immediate implementation:

1. Cash palliative of N10,000 for each public servant including pensioners to enable workers to cope with the economic shocks occasioned by the removal of fuel subsidy for 3 months in the first instance with effect from July 2023.

My great colleagues. Please for now just forget about promotion for the purpose of your sanity. If it comes take it,if it doesn't relax. My only advice is for you all to double or triple your side hustle.
The plan of government for teachers is for us to live in one room batcher,eat one square meal,if you sick you are on your own, your kids should attend free government schools, wear tattered ragged clothes.
So my dear friends just take this job as secondary and your other hustle as primary.

My brother we are in for a real slavery,,,is it not the side hustle that some of us went for and supervisors came and and collected the time book and consequently their salaries has been seized for the past three months,,,finally they have been asked to refund their one or two months salary as the case maybe before their salaries can be released, This politicians really want us to suffer feed from hand to mount,,,if you go for other husle you will be penalized I don't know what we can do right now,,,we are under slavery...except we speak for ourselves

I can c we r beginning to try to make moves to get ourselves heard, its a welcome development.

We shouldn't allow unnecessary obstacles, technology glitch stop us ( the link provided by Ogbugo not connecting ).

Let us simply start by bombarding the talk shows on radio with calls from tomorrow. I am sure with such volume of complaints d stations will make it a news headline, which may force positive reactions from govt.

We should b civil & responsible as we do this:
1. Complain on d plight of Civil Servants in d state in relation to the harsh economy & make it known that there has not been any promotion for over 10 years.

2. PLEAD with d govt to have compassion on its workforce & implement d promotion that has been going on for months now.

3. We must refrain from referring to teachers but in all our statements say civil servants, so as to possibly gain solidarity with all civil servants & enlarge awareness base. ( no b only teachers b civil servants, Wike &co no kukuma like us ).

4. WE MUST NOT INSULT ANYBODY!!! The intention is to create awareness, get compassion & move d powers that b to positive reactions to our requests.
