[Hi Everyone, hope U guys are great, pls, I need y'all to help me out, 2nyt's ma 1st tym of checking ds USA thread nd I can't just read thru, By His grace, I av a very excellent WAEC result @ one sitting, i'm studying a course in a 9ja Uni nd I'ld soon b thru, I av relatives in d US nd now I really wanna go study as an undergraduate again in anoda field in d US, In short I wanna go study Computer Science, my relatives stay in Michigan state, I'ld be living with them, what else do I need to know, after getting my International passport, whatz d next step to take quote]

my guy you are already proving to be an intending immigrant by studying an undergraduate programme after you have done one in Nigeria plus saying you have relatives in the united states. in my own view i think you should go for another higher degree course rather than undergraduate. saying to the v.o that you have relatives in the united states is a red flag plus in the same state you want to study cos that will spark up issues about their immigration status in the united states and you may never be able to defend that in front of the V.O.After getting an international passport you will need to apply to schools in the US and send them you transcripts for evaluation and also certificates obtained in Nigeria with financial guarantee for studies. if you have been chosen then you will be sent an I 20 whereby you pay what is called SEVIS fee after which you apply for your f1 Visa and pay a visa fee also. that's all you need to know. |
[ @oloworulz,, Go with Scratch card, then you are good to go , but are you going for spring? if yes, when is your school resuming?because oct is too early for spring interview oooo, quote]

thats is not true. its is not too early to go for interview by october for spring session because one can apply 2 to 3 months prio to schools's start date and can enter the US up to 1 month before school start date. |
whats going on? this tread does not seem to be like it used to be again. i mean in terms of contributions. are there no people still going for interviews again? please niralanders come back oo. as far as am concerned this tread has really helped me in prepareing for my visa interview. from the day i read it from the gongoaso posts and so on till date i have really gained alot from this tread and i have recommend it to many as well. although i was denied visa sometime June 2011 at the Lagos consulate but i could still say i did not do bad at all during the interview all thanks to the post of house members who post their experience and i learnt from it. i was only denied due to the fact that i had no traveling experience by the lady on counter 1.i had along interview and my all my document was checked by the vo.it was 1 question followed by the other all these were not new to me at the time of the interview. so pls people of this tread come back we need contributions more from you all. |
@ House, my opinion is just that everyone going to the united states for studies should be well prepared and know one thing that life in another man's land cant really be a bed of roses for beginners who don't have families based there in the states. what i can just say is have a adequate and reliable funding source from home and and stay focused. if you don't have any of these then life can be a problem there i know. Workout your plan well before before embarking on the trip. know the kind of school you want to apply to in terms of its fees and tuition and what rent is like and the state you plan to live in. every society has its own problems and are differ from one to another. when all these are been put into consideration then you will know weather you can cope or not. that is my own contribution. |
@Gentlezik . That was a verry nice interrview there. am glad you got it and i wish you all the best in the states and also to all other applicants going verry soon. its just God working and makeing it stress free for us and it will always be good news for all of us. amen. for everyone going for interview pls be fully prepare and get to know every details as posssible. |

@ festus009. This is indeed grate and i love your experience and indeed its really God's doing. am very happy for you. |
@Timotee , i will lke to say congratulations to you. God has put that chinko lady to shame. she was too agressive and now there seems to be light at the end of the turnnel and this is real victory for you. |
@ funsho, first of all i will say congratulations to you. secondly consider it as Gods favour upon you that day you went to the consulate. mine went exactly in the same format as yours went. i mean the questions that the v.o asked you, as in they were really long and i gave very similar answers to the one you gave there but God knows the best and i will say i am very happy for you as this is a land mark victory for you after been interviewed by that lady with traveling experience question. |
@ WARYZ, i said it. that woman on counter 1 is something else. if you prove to her to be smart and intelligent and giving her your answers to the best of your answers to the best of your ability will make her ask more questions from you and at one point 1 question will come twice in a diffrent form.so if you were at your best with your given answers then the last question will come in a more direct form to you. which is have you travelled before? so if yes then you should be given the visa and if no is the answer 214b follows next. i had a similar experience with her 2 months back. @HOUSE, pls take note of the woman on counter 1 at the Lagos consulate she is a devil waiting to cut short the dream of having an American education. if you never go UK, Asia, middle east before then no visa for you ooh. forget you think. if you get smart and intelligent with the interview with her then more questions will follow and later she will ask her big question of have you traveled before? so if you never go all these places before pry make Dem no call you to her side o |
@cutegirl, tthe lady that interviewd you was the one that interviewd me also. with or in counter 1 you have to be smart and inteligent and also well grounded in education that is knowing the courses you will study at the said institution and over all traveling experience matters to her in overcoming 214b that i noticed. if any aplicant get smart and inteligent he or she will have some quite a long interview with counter 1 but he or she must have travelling experience outside africa before. so i see that as playing avital role in your visa interview.as i was jsut exactly as you were with her alhough i had a long interview with her after which she just went in to a quiet mode and later asked that have i traveled before? and i asked to where?she said out and i know what she ment before she gave the 214b. |
@adolite, pls forget booking in lagos, because you will have the same experience such as the one you have had.although you were not articulate in all your repoundces with the vo. we might say not all the vo knows about the programmes we are going for nor the details or what it involves. prayer and Gods favour helps. the lady in counter 1 asks academic questions and looks after travelling experence and soundess in respoundces to questions. if you are able to beat all these you will get the visa in lagos on counter 1.of which i dont see just anybody getting the f1 from the lady in counter 1. counter 2 in lagos ways is based on inteligence as a tool for geting the visa with little or no relation to accademic questions and paper evidences.but if you have done the SAT and TOEFL with good marks then be ready to answer questions or questions based on the most difficult questions you faced when writing the exams with real short and simple explanations. counter 4 will just do you anyhow he feels. so my advice is that go and do more of reserch on 214b and find means to overcome it in the same abuja were your chances are high cos any consular that has 214b in mind will prove too difficult to you. your answers has got to be sound and intelegence has to be confirmed in all respounces. all respounces must show ties to your home contry as it has now become important for you and have the basic knowledge about the courses you will be taking in the said institution and have real reason for choosing the said school. i had my interview by counter 1 and i was super inteligent with her to the last extent that she was in doubt to issue the pink ticket or 214b to me after she asked about my travelling experience after a palse and she had to give me 214b. so go and reprepare your self. |
@ USBound, @ usbound. Thats true about lagos consulate. it was the lady in counter 1 that interviewed me i wish it was the black American guy it would have been on a 50 50 chance with him.no documents show just talk and he smiles at you and if you are smart and intelligent you will definitely get the visa from him. i was prepared for the interview but that lady in counter 1 kept bringing one question after the other and i i was given her the answers correctly when she see say i don too dey get am plus academic questions some asked twice but in adifferent way each time she had no choice Thant to take a pulse for some few seconds checked bank statements, certificates pali to pali with no red flags at all.then she asked have you travelled out before? i said no i havent.she could not tell me am sorry all she did was to pull out a white paper and said you can go through it. the reasons are there. can you imagine that? |
@ House. for thoes considering the lagos consulate for student visa interview. counter 1 is a bit feir but she will keep looking for ways to bounce you.if you are smart and inteligent you should be able to scale through and tofel and travelling experience matters.whan i say travelling i dont mean travelling to south africa nor dubi oo. european contries and asia will do for her. she will note every thing you say down and ask you same question in a twisted way twice.but like i said if you are smart and inteligent with her one question brings another until the final one have you travelled before after asking have you been to the usa before. pls note my point on this lady on counter 1 @ the lagos consulate. counter 2(balck american) is really good as in that one dey always smile and issue visas well but one thing about him is that he does not really check documents at all.what he needs to see are your SAT score cert and he will ask what was the most difficult question you faced when writing the exam.what are your future plans, your waec result in case of undergraduate progarame how you came across the school etc. but he is not difficult at all.if you can talk and give short detail explanations and answers with documents to back up calims if he asks or request any.but i bet you this one no get time for all that. counter 4. that one no get time for story at all first he wants to see your waec followede by yourother documents and verry short questions folllow if you miss any or cannot answer well he will just say am sorry i cannot issue you visa at this time.he is not ready for stories at all. |
@ adolite. my bro age does not matter. just go there with one mind.if you are asked about your age just tell the v.o. but on the undegraduate issue be ready to answer questions on your secondry o levels subjects like when did you garduate from secondry school and what have you been doing since then, expalin the course you are going for and what is the relivance to your contry, where can you work with it,what area are you going to major in.who is paying for your studies.have you travelled before.be ready to answer questions like that at the lagos consulate. i was asked thoes types of questions during my interview. |

be ready to show your waec certificate and any one like 02,03 till like 08 may have probs with the boot 4 man. instantly he will calculate the years you have been out of sec sch without mixing words.niralandas be awere lagos embassy na nonsence. i couldnt belive it after all questions where answerd well no hitch on all answers infact yhe lady at boot 1 was taken points on apaper as i was answering questions that lasted about 12 to 15 min.i was the only one there that took that long with them.it was 1 after another.after which she seem to have finshed with me she den asked after a brake of less than a min.she asked, have you traveled out nija before? i latly answered no.then she kept quiet and removed all that has been attached to my passport and gave me a white pper indecating section 214b of immigration laws tekking me to go through it and that the reasons were there. so if you have travelled out before and back to nija you have better chances with confident respounces you will get it.i noticed that there. |
Lagos consulate is not the best place for student visa ooo.if you are not verry smart, thoughtful and intelegent and you dont have Gods favour on you.menn for get it oooo. the lady on boot 1 and the black young guy at boot 2 are frienly but tough if you think you are smart one question follows the next.they dont belive in documents there at all.what will make dem look at it is when you prove sound and verry confident then documentation presentation my arise. the man at boot 3,that one dey do ako dont really interview pepole.but the man in boot 4 na that one worse pass.ant little mistake you make or you no make sence to am you will be intanly be denied. on my day i think i saw about 5 to 8 student waiting to get their visa but one by one dem dey bounse dem their interview lasted no more than 2 min.then problem starts then you will ear AM SORRY YOU DO NOT QUALIFY FOR A VISA AT THIS TIME. my adcvice is this to everyone going to lagos.it is verry stressful there o.getting in doing all security checks you will be really tired by the time you get in finnaly. go with an umbrella to prepare for bad weather or else you will get dried up by their ac that is freezy and your confidence might drop before the visa officer. be ready to show your SAT,TOEFL,GMAT their. |
