Thanksgiving Proclamation [New York, 3 October 1789] By the President of the United States of America, a Proclamation. "Whereas it is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favor-- and whereas both Houses of Congress have by their joint Committee requested me to recommend to the People of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many signal favors of Almighty God especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness. Now therefore I do recommend and assign Thursday the 26th day of November next to be devoted by the People of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being, who is the beneficent Author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be-- That we may then all unite in rendering unto him our sincere and humble thanks--for his kind care and protection of the People of this Country previous to their becoming a Nation--for the signal and manifold mercies, and the favorable interpositions of his Providence which we experienced in the course and conclusion of the late war-- for the great degree of tranquility, union, and plenty, which we have since enjoyed--for the peaceable and rational manner, in which we have been enabled to establish constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national One now lately instituted--for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed; and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge; and in general for all the great and various favors which he hath been pleased to confer upon us. and also that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech him to pardon our national and other transgressions-- to enable us all, whether in public or private stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually--to render our national government a blessing to all the people, by constantly being a Government of wise, just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed--to protect and guide all Sovereigns and Nations (especially such as have shewn kindness unto us) and to bless them with good government, peace, and concord--To promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the encrease of science among them and us--and generally to grant unto all Mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as he alone knows to be best. Given under my hand at the City of New York the third day of October in the year of our Lord 1789." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N9AvEotefMs Great speech from a great man dont you think. These people even though imperfect, were passionate about the Good. Nowadays, so much evil everywhere, we try to redefine good, we try to modify bad, we do evil without remorse, ungodliness without shame, we seek immorality and unnacountability, we seek superficial freedom, we worship a temporary self and negative shortcuts and frown at those who calls us to order. Why do we desperately want to self-destruct?

Bookstores are filled with books attempting to help us figure out this life. Books on marriage, parenting, relationships, and personal growth fill countless shelves. Others claim to aid in addiction recovery and explain the meaning of life. Still more give views on life after death, good and evil, and the origin of human existence. But only the Bible gives us answers to those questions, and more, directly from the God who created us. The Bible is God's inspired words to us. No speculatory self-help book can come close to the words of our Creator. Because the Bible is the direct Word of God, breathed out by His Holy Spirit (2 Timothy 3:16), it is accurate, reliable, and inerrant. The science in the Bible is accurate because the Bible was given by Him who created the world. Scientific, geological, and historical evidence are consistent with biblical accounts. We know the Bible is reliable because God gave affirmation of the writers by empowering them to perform miracles. We also know it is accurate because of the myriad prophesies and their consistent, specific fulfillments. No other holy book has such substantiation. Because of these obvious, visible proofs, we can trust that the un-provable words in the Bible are also true. A book with so many physical truths can be trusted with the spiritual, as well. Although societies, cultures, and technologies have changed over the years, God's character remains the same. God's universal truths do not alter. The Bible, written over the course of 4500 years, shows this. A mere 2000 years later, God's Word is as relevant to us now as it ever has been. Mankind is still sinful, we all search for meaning and happiness in vain ways, and God is always patient, waiting for us to acknowledge Him (2 Peter 3:9). The Bible shows that this has always been the case, and then shows us that God is always the answer. This is an unpopular message, if all those volumes in bookstores are taken into account. Each one is written by a person, using human intellect and speculation to try to make sense of the world. Only the Bible is inspired from God, and studying it will so fill us with truth that we will be able to better recognize the lies around us. Only the Bible is God's own description of Himself; every other account is human hubris or deception from the enemy. Only the Bible contains God's description of how much He loves us (Romans 5:6-8; John 3:16) and how we are designed to love Him (1 John 4:19). And only the Bible shows how we can join God for eternity, be freed from our sins by the sacrifice of His Son, alone, and not by any effort on our part (John 14:6; Ephesians 2:1-10; Isaiah 53:6; Romans 3:10-18,5:8, 6:23, 10:9-13). Then the Bible shows us how to respond to God's love and grace by serving Him (2 Timothy 3:17;Ephesians 6:17; Hebrews 4:12) and living the life He meant for us to live (Joshua 1:8; James 1:25). It teaches us how to reject sin in ourselves (Psalm 119:9, 11) and in the world (Romans 12:2; James 4:4). How to focus on what really matters (1 Timothy 6:17). And how to actively participate in God's plan (1 Corinthians 9:23). The Bible also gives us examples of what happens when people live according to God's will—and what happens when they don't. Adam and Eve, Ananias and Sapphira, and the children of Israel show that sinning may seem prudent at the time, but rebellion against God always ends in harm. Joshua, Jeremiah, and Paul demonstrate that following God is often difficult, but leads to rewards in the end, and joy in the moment. And David and Peter are classic examples of how a humble heart allows God to work through an imperfect character. The Bible is the only book inspired by God, filled with what He wants us to understand. To read it is to read a personal message to us, written by God Himself. To ignore it is to reject His primary method of communicating with us. God wants us to understand Who He is, who we are, how we can be reconciled with Him, and how we can live fruitful, joyful lives. To that end, He gave us the Scriptures. The more we study the Bible, the more we will gain. God bless you. Source: CompellingTruth.org

crazysaint:Its pointless replying such people, they claim christianity is nonsense, it disturbs them so much that they cant stop talking about it. Its a form of evangelism though unfortunately, they arnt sure what they are evangelising. Its pointless replying disturbed people, we can only pray for them. |
In the Bible, God reveals many ways He has communicated with people. How can we know when God is telling us to do something? A look at Scripture reveals that one of the best ways to determine if God is telling us to do something is to see if it is consistent with God's teachings. John 16:13 teaches, "When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth." In other words, God's Spirit will only guide you to do things that are consistent with what God has already taught as truth. Another way to know when God is telling you to do something is through prayer. James 1:5 says, "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him." If we are uncertain, we are to pray and ask for wisdom from God. A third way to better know when God is telling you to do something is through counsel with other Christian friends. Proverbs 15:22 observes, "Without counsel plans fail, but with many advisers they succeed." Proverbs 11:14 says, "Where there is no guidance, a people falls, but in anabundance of counselors there is safety." It is often through consulting with godly people that God helps us to discover whether our motives are pure and confirms whether our desires are truly from God. Fourth, God often prepares our circumstances to support the way He is leading. The saying, "Where God leads, He also guides," can be a helpful way of considering God's will for your life. For example, if God is leading you to move to a new town, He may choose to allow you to meet certain people or make connections for the new place in ways that help confirm His leading in a new direction. When circumstances match God's Word, prayer, and godly counsel, they may be part of God's way to indicate His leading. If God's Word is consistent with how you are being led, your prayers appear to affirm your leading, other godly friends confirm your plans, and God has allowed circumstances to support your calling, then it may be that God is telling you to take a particular course of action. Even in the lives of biblical leaders, God rarely spoke audibly or provided clear signs like a burning bush or sending an angel. In most cases, God's Spirit will lead believers toward godly actions through less dramatic means. God's Word speaks on the major issues regarding God's will. However, He has also provided His Spirit, prayer, godly people, and circumstances to help guide our individual lives regarding the specific details of many areas of our lives. When we are aware of these areas and seek God's will for our lives, He often shows us insights that better guide us in making decisions to honor Him. God bless you. Source: CompellingTruth.org |

Here are four ways to prepare for a spiritual battle that you know is coming. The Shield of Faith In preparing the Ephesian church for a spiritual battle, Paul wrote, “ In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one ” (Eph. 6:16). Why would Paul describe faith as a shield? It might be because if the believer rightly understood their standing in Christ and that they are held firmly in the grasp of Jesus and the Father’s hands (John 10:28-29), then they might understand their faith is only as strong as the object of their Faith, and that is Jesus Christ. Every believer is sealed by the Holy Spirit (Eph. 1). The Breastplate of Righteousness This “bulletproof” vest is the shield of righteousness and a shield that the enemy cannot penetrate. Maybe you don’t even know you have one, but the fact is that 2 Corinthians 5:21 states we have the very righteousness of Christ: “For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God .” If God is for you, what do you have to worry about if anyone is against you (Rom. 8:31)? The Sword of the Word Satan and his minions most likely know the Word of God better than we do, as Satan quoted Scripture quite easily when He tempted Christ in the wilderness (Matt. 4:1-11). Actually, Satan misquoted the Bible or took verses out of context, and today the subtle enemy is still doing it, even from behind a few pulpits. This shouldn’t come as a surprise to the Christian since “even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light” (2 Cor. 11:14). Therefore, we need to take up “ the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God ” (Eph. 6:17). If you memorize or hide God’s Word in your heart, it can help you resist temptation and possibly not sin, as the psalmist wrote, “ I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you ” (Psalm 119:11). The Helmet of Salvation We Christians must use caution with what is allowed into the “eye gate” or into our minds because it can cause us to stumble into sin, which is why God gave us the armor of God (Eph. 6:10-18). We want to protect what goes into our minds, so we must “take the helmet of salvation” and then put it on (Eph. 6:17), “ for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ” (2 Cor.10:4-5). Conclusion I haven’t written anything new because the Bible gives us all we will need to prepare for and then engage the invisible enemy. Ephesians chapter six equips the believer, but it is up to the believer to take up the full armor of God and to do it before the enemy attacks. God will not put it on for us. “Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm” (Eph. 6:13). God bless you. urahara:Matthew 26:64 also says: "You have said so," Jesus replied. "But I say to all of you: From now on you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven." The Bible never made mention of ruminants, pseudo ruminants or non ruminants because its not a biology textbook. It made mention of chewing the cud, cud simply means partially digested food. In case you find it difficult to read, allow me to offer some assistance ![]() "Also, some mammals are pseudoruminants, which have a three-compartment stomach instead of four like ruminants. The Hippopotamidae (comprising hippopotami) are well-known examples. Pseudoruminants, like traditional ruminants, are foregut fermentors and most ruminate or chew cud. However, their anatomy and method of digestion differs significantly from that of a four-chambered ruminant. Monogastric herbivores, such as rhinoceroses, horses, and rabbits, are not ruminants, as they have a simple single-chambered stomach. urahara:I guess you have nothing more to say. Its funny how you expect the Bible to use the exact word caecotropes. The writer realized that cud is partially digested food material, and used the word cud. A lot has happened 3500 years after, we have discovered that rabbits dont fall under ruminant or non ruminants but still reingest partially digested food called caecotrophes.
