I remember when I created the thread on atheistic nuisance and football: https://www.nairaland.com/4403825/atheistic-nuisance-barcelona-chelseaRanchhoddas, paxonel, superhumanist, coolUsername, Fegelfire were all yarning dust and saying that's its only football. Atheists constitute an unnoticeable nuisance and no one really cares about your opinion. Yes Nigerians worked hard and religious people prayed for them. They lost simply because they didn't have the quality. Why bring your nuisance to this simple game And how about, deluded, ignorant, anti+science, illogical, irrational and delusional Lionel Messi who never works hard but only "depends on God" for miracles and said so publicly yesterday? What's your take on that? Never mind, No one needs your take, Nigerians prayed, Argentines prayed, a winner emerged from a bitter sweet game. No one really cares about atheists.

Since you know your lies are not my business why are you preaching your foolish bible to me, why disturb me in the bus or knock on my door or stop me on the street?
Oga, go and hug tranformer... atheists will be here telling it to your face everyday that you preach lies. Stop coming to preach here and shoving your preaching down peoples throat if you know you dont want to be challenged... cry baby. **** So in your mind, I'm concerned about how you spend your life here talking constantly about something you don't believe in Me wey dey find how I go overtake dangote and use money to better the lives of people around me. Nawa. How many times have you confronted those that stopped you on the street or those that preach to your face. *** **** After regurgitating the lines of Harris, Singer, Dawkins, Krauss and co over the years without any new arguments, you still think there's anything exciting about your madness, you really are an idiot. We will continue preaching here as long as Seun refers to it as a religion section, its will continue to prick your nerves that you have dedicated your whole life to a lie too. Deal with it. |

Oops u are the only one mandated to shove his belief down others throat because Jesus asked u to do so in the Holy Bible.
Remind me why that early morning preacher woman was killed in Abuja some years ago. I see you still wallow in your foolishness. I preach lies how is that your concern I imagine myself being as stupid as you guys and going to an atheist gathering or an atheist forum everyday of my life just to tell them they are sharing lies amongst themselves You can never rationally justify why you're mandated to remain on this section all the days of your life especially on something you don't even believe. budaatum: No sir, this does not prove "human disposition to believe in the supernatural" . All it shows is human will to seek explanation for their surroundings. It is the laziness of some that makes them believe without searching any further. The human disposition to believe in the supernatural is a scientific fact. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1386533/Belief-religion-simply-universal-human-nature.htmlhttp://religion.blogs.cnn.com/2011/05/12/religious-belief-is-human-nature-huge-new-study-claims/http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/8510711/Belief-in-God-is-part-of-human-nature-Oxford-study.htmlbudaatum: Sounds absurd, don't it. Tell me the difference though between that and them coming into existence through the moulding of mud and being breathed into by some super powerful almighty being!! Sounds more plausible to me. The machines I see around me are too sophisticated to have arisen by chance. Even models created by humans are nowhere near the intelligence of the total human structure. This has always been the common sense stand even though I also disagreed with it willfully when I was irreligious. Well, truth will be truth even if no one believed in it. Atheist astronomer Fred Hoyle, who coined the term “Big Bang", once confessed that his disbelief was “greatly shaken” by the undisputed science, writing about the universe that “a common-sense interpretation of the facts suggests that a super-intellect has monkeyed with the physics, as well as with chemistry and biology.” The evidence is overwhelming and continues to stare at us even though we continue to look for alternate answers. If this Super-intellect created man using raw materials from a created world, what qualities could I possibly use to probe the existence of this Super-intellect asides from the qualities He has willfully ingrained in me? budaatum: You don't believe that certain 'esoteric' knowledges should not be discredit. Or at least you don't normally act like you do or I would simply ask, what about the esoteric knowledge called atheism, then? Atheism requires lots of faith in my opinion, I simply do not have that much faith. How could one rationally push that man is here to be here and once he's dead he's gone, that the universe is unplanned and cares nothing for us, that everything happens to happen and there's no greater purpose to life, that there is no transcendent morality, no good, no evil, and all we have are just likes and dislikes. It makes no sense and the available evidence stands against these. budaatum: No I don't! Religion was early school. Some of us will still be bashing the heads of little babies against the wall if the school of Christianity had not taught us not to. And we agree it was how early understanding of things were propagated, before we went on to create school. But at some point, Pharisee like people and thinking takes over, and they tell people to believe what is considered to be the whole truth when in fact there is much more to everything than the serpents they dish out. You're correct. School is good and has always been in most cases. However, even today, there are wrong and toxic lessons taught in religious, cultural, academic and even atheistic classes. budaatum: Go check. You'll find that the Christianity that they used to justify putting chains on some people and working them as slaves is not the same Christian they practice today. If it were, they would still be in what could best be described as dark ages. Maybe the Christianity practiced today is true Christianity. If you'll be honest enough with me, you'll agree that Jesus would have condemned outrightly such activities under the idea that "all men are created equal". budaatum: Yes, to reinforce the beliefs of people. But the curtain is being rent free and some people are looking beyond the veil. Education in many nations is now teaching how student can get to learn more, and not just telling them 'what is'. Maybe many of our teachers, parents and even religious leaders got this wrong, it still does not say much about the validity of such teachings. I can observe how people get overtly religious in society with little to show for it, and how they condemn those who try to ask questions. This is why christian apologetics for instance, is almost non existent in Nigeria. We now know better and we can reform the process of teaching. budaatum: Well, there is no reason not to teach the history of the Yorubas, say. But we'd have problems if you then say I should base my behaviour on that history. Of course, we should have problems if such teachings are out of touch with reality. But seeing that we get countless testimonies of the live effect of certain histories, the power of the Word in the lives of countless persons. One of the factors that led me to Christ, is the existential reality of the gospel. budaatum: No one is wishing anyone away, but no person finds a pot of gold and doesn't go tell his neighbours, or have a light and cover it up so no one sees it. The issues we debate here is whether what we have is a pot of gold, or a light. It is the basis of the atheist/theist debates we have here. Of course, the need to evangelise I've discovered, is innate. That explains why most atheists are here trying to persuade me to be one of them. If atheists cared so much about humanity as they claim, they'll constantly be in Islams face, for we all know its the most potent tool for evil in our world today. |

budaatum: Historically, any person who did not believe in any deity supported by the state was fair game to accusations of atheism, a capital crime. For political reasons, Socrates in Athens (399 BCE) was accused of being atheos ("refusing to acknowledge the gods recognized by the state" .
Christians in Rome were also considered subversive to the state religion and persecuted as atheists. Thus, charges of atheism, meaning the subversion of religion, were often used similarly to charges of heresy and impiety as a political tool to eliminate enemies. Wiki
An Atheista ; one who rejected the gods worshipped by the wider society.

TayserMahiri: Yeah to me you try TayserMahiri: Atheists also have their own conscience-given mandate to help theists see reality and eliminate the very bad consequences of religion. Please give an example of false that atheists tell. Are you speaking for yourself or for all atheists? Where is the evidence of this conscience-given mandate and how can we test it empirically? If there are "bad consequences" of religion, does it mean there are good consequences of religion? TayserMahiri: Yeah because what issue do you have with atheists building churches, organizations, concerts etc? It should be none of your business after all they respect your rallies. Fine, so its safe to say atheism is religious or has ritualistic tendencies? TayserMahiri: According to your source, "Although the number of atheists and agnostics continues to rise in the Western world, the current growth of a variety of religions in China in particular (where the vast majority of the non-religious live today) suggests continued future demographic growth of religion.”
Which means atheism is rising in the western world. What is happening is that the gains are being eroded by the rise of religion in the developing and smack poor parts of world. When those poor regions get to western levels of development one day in future, atheism will see global overall growth. Even in China, wait till they reach developed world standard, most of them will return back to atheism. Lol, I know you didn't bother to read the article, but here's the highlight: Atheism is in decline worldwide, with the number of atheists falling from 4.5% of the world’s population in 1970 to 2.0% in 2010 and projected to drop to 1.8% by 2020, according to a new report. |

TayserMahiri: You dont need to prove. Just know you dont sound like one. To you? Mr TayserMahiri okay TayserMahiri: Maybe part of telling theists to stop wasting time ends up sounding like pushing an ideology. Mostly, atheists just want you to understand their view of things, and most of the times you theists get really worked up and offended because what atheists tell you is so obviously true and undeniable but still unpalatable and incompatible with what you'd wish to be true. wanna know how stupid this sounds? Me going to an atheist forum to tell them to believe in God. Actually it won't even be as stupid, I have a mandate, but you, you want me to not believe in God with you. Makes no sense. What atheists tell me are mostly false. I really wish I knew what you talking about. TayserMahiri: Im not even Nigerian. Atheists, like all human beings are free to gather anywhere (even if it involves building a church as you say) to share whatever they would want to share. In any case they are often threatened and maltreated by theists and need strong social support groups, support that theists would rather not offer. is this what you could come up with? TayserMahiri: I didnt tell you religious ppl or religion will disappear. I said atheists will keep increasing in number so long as humanity advances and the understanding of nature keeps improving. Dont get me wrong, I dont even mind one of my kids becoming the Pope. I have nothing against that. But research proves that atheism is in decline. |

TayserMahiri: You dont sound like a scientist at all. I cannot believe that one. What field. Care to tell us? You sound like a religious braggart who cant understand how on earth anyone cant understand him. Why do you think I'll be willing to prove to you who I really am or what I do? TayserMahiri: About atheism not growing is because it is not a religion. You wont find an atheist 'preaching' to you because there is nothing to preach. An atheist will simply tell you you are deluded and stop wasting his/her time with shenanigans. Not preaching. Well, atheism is getting much more cult like and in fact religious. Atheists swarm this section, a religion section, not to tell theists to stop wasting their time, but to push their ideology, mock and ridicule religious people and their beliefs. If that is not synonymous to preaching, I don't know what is. TayserMahiri: Atheism being the denial of deities means that your question on why it is unpopular is like asking why is the lack of love for football not popular. Otherwise if atheism was a religion with teachings and so forth it would be doing very well especially because there is no constant threats of eternal suffering in hell. Lol, you are probably another one of the regular Nigerian atheist, blissfully ignorant too. You may need to look beyong Nigeria here. Tell me, why would you set up an atheist church, atheist organization, atheist concerts and shows, atheist rally amongst other atheistic activities? Atheism has been around for centuries, there are obvious reasons why its remained unpopular. TayserMahiri: I can bet with you that in 5000 years from now the world will be very much atheist. Because ppl will be more informed, and perhaps with less problems, good technology, you can live 1000s of yrs and suddenly eternal life becomes useless, some travelling to other star systems etc Voitaire also made the prediction in his time, he predicted that religious population would be suppressed in 100 years, yet 50 years after his death, the Geneva Bible Society used his house as a printing press. Who knows, maybe one of your scientist kids will use your house for house fellowship. |
