FL Gators:
It simply means, don't hold a knife by the sharp side unless you're handing it to someone else.
(Don't point the sharp side to someone, hold the shapr side while the person recieving the knife raches for the base of the knife)

I'm not sure of what you meant by Ritual; but:

Clean up while cooking, or clean the mess up right away.
Don't leave the kitchen while cooking
Faster and better if you try to cook your meals at once (rice on the front left, stew on the rear left, vegies on the rear right, etc)
Don't depend on measuring cups/spoons, use your instinct
Wash your dishes right away, more work/dirtier if you leave it till later on
NEVER hold the knife by the tips unless your pasing it to someone else
